1しかし、それを信じる人は
なんと少ないことでしょう。
だれが、耳をすまして聞くでしょう。
神はだれに、救いの力を示すのでしょう。
2主の目には、彼は不毛の地に芽を吹いた
柔らかな新芽のようで、
私たちの目には、
心引かれるものは何一つなく、
慕うようなものもありません。
3私たちは彼をさげすみ、受け入れませんでした。
彼は悲しみの人で、
苦しみをなめ尽くした人でした。
私たちは彼に背を向け、
そばを通っても顔をそらしました。
彼が侮られても、そ知らぬふりをしていました。
4しかし、彼は私たちの悲しみを負い、
私たちの嘆きをにないました。
私たちは、彼がそんなに苦しむのは、罪を犯して
神に罰せられているからだと思いました。
5しかし、私たちの罪のために傷つき、
血を流したのです。
彼は私たちに平安を与えようとして、
進んで懲らしめを受けました。
彼がむち打たれたので、私たちはいやされました。
6私たちは神の道を離れ、
羊のようにさまよい出て、
自分勝手な道を歩いてきました。
しかし神は、私たち一人一人の罪を
彼に負わせたのです。
7彼は痛めつけられ、苦しみ悩みました。
それでも、ひと言も語りませんでした。
子羊のようにおとなしくほふり場へ引いて行かれ、
毛を刈り取られる羊のように、
非難を浴びせる者たちの前に黙って立ちました。
8人々は彼を裁判にかけ、刑場へ引き立てました。
はたして、彼が死ぬのは自分たちの罪のためであり、
身代わりに罰を受けて苦しんでいることを
知っていた者が、その時代にいたでしょうか。
9彼は罪人扱いを受け、富む者の墓に葬られました。
悪いことをしたわけでもなく、
悪いことばを口にしたわけでもありません。
10彼を傷つけ、悲しみで満たすのは、
主の計画だったのです。
罪の赦しのためのささげ物として、
そのたましいをささげるとき、
彼は多くの子孫を見ることができます。
彼は復活し、
神の計画は彼の手によって成し遂げられます。
11彼は、自分のたましいが苦しみもだえた末、
神のみわざが実現するのを見て、満足します。
「わたしの正しいしもべは、
このような苦しみを経験して、
多くの人を神の前に義とする。
彼が人々の罪をすべてになうからだ。
12それゆえ、わたしは 彼に、
偉大な勝利者としての栄誉を与える。
彼は進んでいのちをささげたのだ。
彼は罪人の一人に数えられ、多くの人の罪を負い、
罪人のために神にとりなしをした。」

10¶ Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.53.10 thou…: or, his soul shall make an offering 11He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. 12Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
