アッシリヤによるエジプト征服の預言
1アッシリヤのサルゴン王が、司令官にペリシテの町アシュドデを襲わせ、占領させた年のことです。 2主はアモツの子イザヤに、腰の荒布を取り、はだしで歩くように命じました。
イザヤが言われたとおりにすると、 3主は言いました。「わたしのしもべイザヤが、三年間、裸のままはだしで歩いたことは、わたしがエジプトとエチオピヤに下す恐ろしい災害のしるしだ。 4アッシリヤの王はエジプト人とエチオピヤ人を捕虜にし、老人も若者もみな裸のままはだしで歩かせ、エジプトの恥をさらす。 5-6これを見て、エチオピヤの力をあてにし、同盟国のエジプトを頼りにしていたペリシテ人はあわてふためき、口々に言うだろう。『なんということだ。エジプトでさえこのありさまなら、とうていわれわれに勝ち目はない。』」
1In the year that Tartan came unto Ashdod, (when Sargon the king of Assyria sent him,) and fought against Ashdod, and took it; 2At the same time spake the LORD by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, Go and loose the sackcloth from off thy loins, and put off thy shoe from thy foot.
