エチオピヤ陥落の預言
1ナイル川の上流にある、
帆船が川面を行き交う国エチオピヤよ。
2矢のように速く川を下る船で、
使者を送り出している国よ。
ナイル川を境に、
征服者と恐れられる者たちの住む国よ。
急使があなたのところに引き返し、
このように伝える。
3私が山の上に戦いの旗を立てるとき、
世界の国々はよく注意していなさい。
私がラッパを吹き鳴らしたら、耳をすましなさい。
4主は私にこう告げました。「あなたの強力な軍隊をイスラエルめざして進ませよ。」
神はエルサレムの神殿から静かに眺めています。
心地よい夏の日のように、
収穫の秋のすがすがしい朝のようにゆったりと。
5しかし、神は手をこまねいているわけではなく、
あなたが攻撃に移る前に、まだ作戦が熟さないうちに、
ぶどうの枝を払うように、
大きなはさみであなたを切り、
勢いよく伸びるつるを摘み取ってしまいます。
6あなたの強力な軍隊は戦場でしかばねをさらし、
野鳥や野獣の餌食になるのです。
はげたかの群れは夏の間死体を食い荒らし、
野獣の群れは冬の間骨まで食べ尽くします。
7主はその時、
近くの国にも遠くの国にも征服者と恐れられ、
ナイル川を境とするこの大国からも、
神がご自分の名を置いた所、
エルサレムに住む天の軍勢の主のもとへ
貢ぎ物が運び込まれます。

7¶ In that time shall the present be brought unto the LORD of hosts of a people scattered and peeled, and from a people terrible from their beginning hitherto; a nation meted out and trodden under foot, whose land the rivers have spoiled, to the place of the name of the LORD of hosts, the mount Zion.18.7 scattered…: or, outspread and polished
