2Klap in uw handen, alle volken op aarde,
juich voor God met lofliederen.
3De Here, de Allerhoogste, is beroemd en gevreesd,
Hij is de grote Koning van de hele aarde.
4Hij laat ons andere volken overwinnen,
wij heersen over andere landen.
5Hij zoekt voor ons een erfdeel uit,
waar Jakob trots op zal zijn.
God houdt van Jakob.
6God stijgt ten hemel
onder juichende klanken,
de Here stijgt ten hemel
bij het geluid van schallende trompetten.
7Zing voor God, zing psalmen voor onze Koning,
laten onze lofliederen voor Hem opklinken.
8God is immers Koning over de hele aarde!
Zing voor Hem een psalm, een prachtig lied.
9God regeert vanaf zijn heilige troon
over alle volken op aarde.
10De leiders van alle volken komen bij elkaar
en sluiten zich aan bij het volk van Abrahams God.
Want alle bescherming die de aarde biedt,
is van God.
Hij is de Allerhoogste.

1Clap your hands, all you nations;
shout to God with cries of joy.
2For the Lord Most High is awesome,
the great King over all the earth.
3He subdued nations under us,
peoples under our feet.
4He chose our inheritance for us,
the pride of Jacob, whom he loved.47:4 The Hebrew has Selah (a word of uncertain meaning) here.
5God has ascended amid shouts of joy,
the Lord amid the sounding of trumpets.
6Sing praises to God, sing praises;
sing praises to our King, sing praises.
7For God is the King of all the earth;
sing to him a psalm of praise.
8God reigns over the nations;
God is seated on his holy throne.
9The nobles of the nations assemble
as the people of the God of Abraham,
for the kings47:9 Or shields of the earth belong to God;
he is greatly exalted.
