Reiniging na melaatsheid
1-2 De Here gaf Mozes de volgende voorschriften voor iemand die van zijn melaatsheid genezen is verklaard: 3-4 ‘De priester zal het kamp verlaten om hem te onderzoeken. Als hij ziet dat de melaatsheid is verdwenen, zal hij vragen om twee levende, reine vogels, cederhout, scharlaken en hysop om die te gebruiken bij de reinigingsceremonie van degene die genezen is. 5De priester zal dan opdracht geven een van de vogels te slachten boven een aardewerken pot waarin zich fris bronwater bevindt. 6De andere vogel zal, samen met het cederhout, scharlaken en hysop in het bloed van de gedode vogel worden gedoopt. 7Vervolgens zal de priester zevenmaal bloed sprenkelen over de man die is genezen. Daarna zal hij hem rein verklaren. De levende vogel zal hij in het open veld laten vliegen. 8De genezene moet zijn kleren wassen, al zijn haar afscheren, een bad nemen en in het kamp terugkeren. Eenmaal in het kamp moet hij nog zeven dagen buiten zijn tent blijven. 9Op de zevende dag moet hij opnieuw al het haar van zijn hoofd, baard en wenkbrauwen afscheren, zijn kleren wassen en een bad nemen. Daarna zal hij volkomen genezen worden verklaard.
10De volgende dag, de achtste, moet hij twee lammeren zonder gebreken, een eenjarige ooi zonder gebreken, zes zes tiende liter fijn meel, aangemaakt met olijfolie en eenderde liter olijfolie nemen. 11De priester die hem genezen verklaart, zal de genezen man met zijn offer bij de ingang van de tabernakel voor de ogen van de Here brengen. 12De priester zal een van de lammeren en de olijfolie aan de Here offeren als een schuldoffer, door deze staande voor het altaar omhoog te heffen. 13Dan zal hij het lam slachten op de plaats waar ook de zondoffers en brandoffers worden geslacht in de tabernakel. Dit schuldoffer zal dan aan de priester worden gegeven als voedsel, zoals dat ook bij het zondoffer gebeurt. Het is een allerheiligst offer. 14De priester zal het bloed van dit schuldoffer met zijn vinger aan de rechter oorlel, de rechter duim en de rechter grote teen strijken van degene die moet worden gereinigd.
15-16 Daarna zal de priester de olijfolie nemen, iets ervan in de palm van zijn linkerhand gieten, zijn rechter vinger erin dopen en het zevenmaal voor de Here uitsprenkelen. 17Iets van de in zijn linkerhand overgebleven olijfolie zal de priester met zijn vinger aan de rechter oorlel, de rechter duim en de rechter grote teen van de man strijken, op het bloed van het schuldoffer. 18De rest van de olie in zijn linkerhand zal de priester aanbrengen op het hoofd van de te reinigen man. Zo zal de priester verzoening voor hem doen bij de Here. 19Daarna moet de priester het zondoffer offeren en opnieuw de reinigingsceremonie volbrengen voor de van melaatsheid genezen man. 20Vervolgens zal de priester het brandoffer slachten en het tegelijk met het spijsoffer op het altaar offeren en zo verzoening doen over de man, die daarna volkomen rein zal worden verklaard.
21Als hij zo arm is dat hij geen twee lammeren kan offeren, moet hij er één brengen voor het schuldoffer om aan de Here te worden aangeboden als een offer door het omhoog te heffen, staande voor het altaar en slechts 2,2 liter fijn meel, aangemaakt met olijfolie, als spijsoffer en eenderde liter olijfolie. 22Hij zal tevens twee tortelduiven of jonge duiven brengen, afhankelijk van wat hij zich kan veroorloven. De ene duif zal worden gebruikt voor het zondoffer, de andere voor het brandoffer. 23Hij zal deze op de achtste dag bij de priester aan de ingang van de tabernakel brengen om ze te gebruiken bij zijn reinigingsceremonie voor de Here. 24De priester zal het lam van het schuldoffer en de olie aan de Here offeren door het omhoog te heffen. 25Dan zal hij het lam voor het schuldoffer slachten en iets van het bloed strijken aan de rechter oorlel, de rechter duim en de rechter grote teen van de man die moet worden gereinigd. 26De priester zal daarna de olijfolie in de palm van zijn linkerhand gieten. 27Met zijn rechter vinger moet hij de olie zevenmaal voor de Here uitsprenkelen. 28Dan moet hij iets van de olie strijken aan de rechter oorlel, de rechter duim en de rechter grote teen van de man op het bloed van het schuldoffer. 29De rest van de olie moet op het hoofd van de man worden gedaan om verzoening voor hem te doen voor de Here. 30Dan moet hij de twee tortelduiven of jonge duiven (afhankelijk van wat de man zich kan veroorloven) offeren. 31Een van de twee is voor het zondoffer, de andere is voor het brandoffer en wordt samen met het spijsoffer geofferd. Zo zal de priester tegenover de Here verzoening doen voor de man.’
32Dit zijn de voorschriften betreffende hen die van melaatsheid worden gereinigd, maar niet in staat zijn de offers te brengen, die gewoonlijk worden verlangd voor een reinigingsceremonie.
33-35Toen zei de Here tegen Mozes en Aäron: ‘Wanneer u aankomt in het land Kanaän dat Ik u zal geven en Ik laat in een huis melaatsheid ontstaan, dan moet de eigenaar van het huis naar de priester gaan en zeggen: “Ik geloof dat er melaatsheid in mijn huis heerst!” 36De priester zal eerst het huis laten ontruimen voordat hij een onderzoek komt instellen, om te voorkomen dat alles onrein wordt verklaard als hij inderdaad melaatsheid constateert. 37-38 Als hij in de wanden van het huis groenachtige of roodachtige kuiltjes vindt die dieper schijnen te zitten dan de buitenkant van de muur, zal hij het huis zeven dagen sluiten. 39Op de zevende dag zal hij terugkomen voor een tweede onderzoek. 40Als de plekken zich over de muur hebben verspreid, zal hij opdracht geven de aangetaste delen uit de muur te halen. Het materiaal moet op een onreine plaats buiten de stad worden gestort. 41Daarna zal hij opdracht geven de muren van het huis helemaal af te schrapen. Ook dat materiaal moet op een onreine plaats buiten de stad worden gestort. 42Voor de stenen die zijn verwijderd, moeten nieuwe worden aangebracht en die moeten worden ingemetseld met nieuwe specie. Het hele huis moet daarna opnieuw worden gepleisterd. 43-44 Als de plekken opnieuw verschijnen, zal de priester terugkomen om te kijken en als hij ziet dat de plekken zich hebben verspreid, is het melaatsheid en is het huis onrein. 45Hij zal dan opdracht geven het huis af te breken. Alle stenen, houtwerk en leem van het huis moeten op een onreine plaats buiten de stad worden gestort. 46Ieder die het huis binnengaat terwijl het is afgesloten, zal tot de avond onrein zijn. 47Ieder die in het huis slaapt of eet, zal zijn kleren wassen. 48Maar als de priester terugkomt en de plekken zijn niet opnieuw verschenen nadat het nieuwe pleisterwerk is aangebracht, zal hij het huis rein verklaren. De melaatsheid is dan verdwenen. 49Hij zal dan ook een reinigingsceremonie uitvoeren met twee vogels, cederhout, scharlaken en hysop. 50-52Hij zal de ene vogel slachten boven een aardewerken pot met fris bronwater en het cederhout, de hysop, het scharlaken én de levende vogel in het bloed van de gedode vogel dopen en het huis zevenmaal besprenkelen. Zo zal het huis worden gereinigd. 53Daarna zal hij de levende vogel in het vrije veld buiten de stad loslaten. Op deze wijze wordt verzoening voor het huis gedaan en wordt het gereinigd.’
54-56Dit zijn de voorschriften betreffende de talloze plaatsen waar melaatsheid kan verschijnen: in een kledingstuk of een huis, in een gezwel op de huid, in een litteken van een brandwond of op een lichte plek. 57Op deze manier wordt bepaald of het melaatsheid is of niet. Daarom zijn deze wetten gegeven.

10And on the eighth day he shall take two he lambs without blemish, and one ewe lamb of the first year without blemish, and three tenth deals of fine flour for a meat offering, mingled with oil, and one log of oil.14.10 of the…: Heb. the daughter of her year 11And the priest that maketh him clean shall present the man that is to be made clean, and those things, before the LORD, at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: 12And the priest shall take one he lamb, and offer him for a trespass offering, and the log of oil, and wave them for a wave offering before the LORD: 13And he shall slay the lamb in the place where he shall kill the sin offering and the burnt offering, in the holy place: for as the sin offering is the priest’s, so is the trespass offering: it is most holy: 14And the priest shall take some of the blood of the trespass offering, and the priest shall put it upon the tip of the right ear of him that is to be cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot: 15And the priest shall take some of the log of oil, and pour it into the palm of his own left hand: 16And the priest shall dip his right finger in the oil that is in his left hand, and shall sprinkle of the oil with his finger seven times before the LORD: 17And of the rest of the oil that is in his hand shall the priest put upon the tip of the right ear of him that is to be cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot, upon the blood of the trespass offering: 18And the remnant of the oil that is in the priest’s hand he shall pour upon the head of him that is to be cleansed: and the priest shall make an atonement for him before the LORD. 19And the priest shall offer the sin offering, and make an atonement for him that is to be cleansed from his uncleanness; and afterward he shall kill the burnt offering: 20And the priest shall offer the burnt offering and the meat offering upon the altar: and the priest shall make an atonement for him, and he shall be clean.
21And if he be poor, and cannot get so much; then he shall take one lamb for a trespass offering to be waved, to make an atonement for him, and one tenth deal of fine flour mingled with oil for a meat offering, and a log of oil;14.21 cannot…: Heb. his hand reach not14.21 to be…: Heb. for a waving 22And two turtledoves, or two young pigeons, such as he is able to get; and the one shall be a sin offering, and the other a burnt offering. 23And he shall bring them on the eighth day for his cleansing unto the priest, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, before the LORD. 24And the priest shall take the lamb of the trespass offering, and the log of oil, and the priest shall wave them for a wave offering before the LORD: 25And he shall kill the lamb of the trespass offering, and the priest shall take some of the blood of the trespass offering, and put it upon the tip of the right ear of him that is to be cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot: 26And the priest shall pour of the oil into the palm of his own left hand: 27And the priest shall sprinkle with his right finger some of the oil that is in his left hand seven times before the LORD: 28And the priest shall put of the oil that is in his hand upon the tip of the right ear of him that is to be cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot, upon the place of the blood of the trespass offering: 29And the rest of the oil that is in the priest’s hand he shall put upon the head of him that is to be cleansed, to make an atonement for him before the LORD. 30And he shall offer the one of the turtledoves, or of the young pigeons, such as he can get; 31Even such as he is able to get, the one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering, with the meat offering: and the priest shall make an atonement for him that is to be cleansed before the LORD. 32This is the law of him in whom is the plague of leprosy, whose hand is not able to get that which pertaineth to his cleansing.
33¶ And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, 34When ye be come into the land of Canaan, which I give to you for a possession, and I put the plague of leprosy in a house of the land of your possession; 35And he that owneth the house shall come and tell the priest, saying, It seemeth to me there is as it were a plague in the house: 36Then the priest shall command that they empty the house, before the priest go into it to see the plague, that all that is in the house be not made unclean: and afterward the priest shall go in to see the house:14.36 empty: or, prepare 37And he shall look on the plague, and, behold, if the plague be in the walls of the house with hollow strakes, greenish or reddish, which in sight are lower than the wall; 38Then the priest shall go out of the house to the door of the house, and shut up the house seven days: 39And the priest shall come again the seventh day, and shall look: and, behold, if the plague be spread in the walls of the house; 40Then the priest shall command that they take away the stones in which the plague is, and they shall cast them into an unclean place without the city: 41And he shall cause the house to be scraped within round about, and they shall pour out the dust that they scrape off without the city into an unclean place: 42And they shall take other stones, and put them in the place of those stones; and he shall take other morter, and shall plaister the house. 43And if the plague come again, and break out in the house, after that he hath taken away the stones, and after he hath scraped the house, and after it is plaistered; 44Then the priest shall come and look, and, behold, if the plague be spread in the house, it is a fretting leprosy in the house: it is unclean. 45And he shall break down the house, the stones of it, and the timber thereof, and all the morter of the house; and he shall carry them forth out of the city into an unclean place. 46Moreover he that goeth into the house all the while that it is shut up shall be unclean until the even. 47And he that lieth in the house shall wash his clothes; and he that eateth in the house shall wash his clothes. 48And if the priest shall come in, and look upon it, and, behold, the plague hath not spread in the house, after the house was plaistered: then the priest shall pronounce the house clean, because the plague is healed.14.48 shall come…: Heb. in coming in shall come in, etc 49And he shall take to cleanse the house two birds, and cedar wood, and scarlet, and hyssop: 50And he shall kill the one of the birds in an earthen vessel over running water: 51And he shall take the cedar wood, and the hyssop, and the scarlet, and the living bird, and dip them in the blood of the slain bird, and in the running water, and sprinkle the house seven times: 52And he shall cleanse the house with the blood of the bird, and with the running water, and with the living bird, and with the cedar wood, and with the hyssop, and with the scarlet: 53But he shall let go the living bird out of the city into the open fields, and make an atonement for the house: and it shall be clean.
54This is the law for all manner of plague of leprosy, and scall, 55And for the leprosy of a garment, and of a house, 56And for a rising, and for a scab, and for a bright spot: 57To teach when it is unclean, and when it is clean: this is the law of leprosy.14.57 when it is unclean…: Heb. in the day of the unclean, and in the day of the clean
