God wil bij Zijn volk wonen
1De Here zei tegen Mozes: 2‘Zeg het volk Israël dat iedere man die in zijn hart de behoefte daartoe voelt, Mij iets mag geven van de volgende zaken: 3-5goud, zilver, koper, blauwpurper, roodpurper, scharlaken, fijn linnen, geitenhaar, roodgeverfde lamsvellen, dassenvellen en acaciahout, 6olie voor de lampen, specerijen voor de zalfolie en kruiden voor het reukwerk, 7onyxstenen en stenen voor het priesterkleed en de borsttas. 8Het volk moet een heiligdom voor Mij maken, zodat Ik onder mijn volk kan wonen. 9Het moet een grote tent worden, een tabernakel. Ik zal u een voorbeeld laten zien en nauwkeurig omschrijven hoe Ik het gemaakt wil hebben.
10Zij moeten van acaciahout een ark maken, 113 cm lang, 68 cm breed en 68 cm hoog. 11Van binnen en van buiten moet die ark worden overtrokken met zuiver goud en er moet een gouden omlijsting omheen komen. 12Smeed vier gouden ringen en bevestig die aan de vier laagste hoeken van de ark, aan beide kanten twee. 13-14 Maak van acaciahout draagstokken en overtrek die ook met goud. Die draagstokken moeten door de gouden ringen worden gestoken om de ark te kunnen dragen. 15Ze moeten er voortdurend in blijven zitten.
16In de ark moeten de stenen plaquettes waar de wet op staat, komen te liggen. 17Maak een deksel van puur goud, een verzoendeksel van 113 cm lang en 68 cm breed. 18Dan moet u twee engelen maken van gedreven goud en 19deze vastzetten op het verzoendeksel, elk aan een kant van de ark. 20De engelen moeten hun vleugels naar boven uitspreiden, zodat ze het verzoendeksel bedekken en in elkaars richting kijken. Zij moeten neerkijken op het verzoendeksel.
21Leg het verzoendeksel op de ark en leg daar de stenen plaquettes met de wet in die Ik u zal geven. 22Daar zal Ik u ontmoeten en vanaf het verzoendeksel tussen de engelen zal Ik met u spreken en in de ark zullen de wetten van het verbond liggen. Daar zal Ik u mijn opdrachten voor het volk Israël geven.
23Maak dan een tafel van acaciahout, 90 cm lang, 45 cm breed en 68 cm hoog. 24Overtrek hem met goud en maak er een gouden rand omheen. 25Maak er een rand van 7,5 cm omheen en omlijst die weer met een smalle rand van goud. 26-27 Maak vier gouden ringen en bevestig deze aan de bovenkant van de poten van de tafel. Die ringen zijn voor de stokken, waarmee de tafel moet worden gedragen. 28Maak de draagstokken van acaciahout en overtrek ze met goud. 29Maak schotels, schalen, kannen en kommen van zuiver goud 30en zorg ervoor dat er altijd toonbroden voor Mij op de tafel liggen.
31Maak een kandelaar van puur gedreven goud. De hele kandelaar en zijn versieringen moeten uit één stuk bestaan, het voetstuk, de schacht, de bloemkelken en de bloesems. 32-33 Vanuit de schacht moeten aan elke zijde drie armen uitsteken, versierd met amandelbloesems. 34-35 De schacht zelf moet worden versierd met vier amandelbloesems, een tussen elk paar armen en bovendien een bloesem boven de bovenste armen en onder de onderste armen. 36Deze versieringen, de armen en de schacht, moeten uit één stuk puur, gedreven goud zijn. 37Maak ook zeven lampen voor de kandelaar en plaats deze zo dat hun licht naar voren valt. 38De snuiters en bakjes van de lampen moeten van puur goud zijn. 39Er zal voor de kandelaar ongeveer dertig kilo goud nodig zijn. 40Zorg ervoor dat alles wordt gemaakt naar het voorbeeld dat Ik u op de berg heb laten zien.’
Offerings for the Holy Tent
1The Lord said to Moses, 2“Tell the people of Israel to bring me an offering. You must receive the offering for me from everyone whose hearts move them to give.
3“Here are the offerings you must receive from them.
“gold, silver and bronze
4blue, purple and bright red yarn and fine linen
goat hair
5ram skins that are dyed red
another kind of strong leather
acacia wood
6olive oil for the lights
spices for the anointing oil and for the sweet-smelling incense
7onyx stones and other jewels for the linen apron and chest cloth
8“Have them make a sacred tent for me. I will live among them. 9Make the holy tent and everything that belongs to it. Make them exactly like the pattern I will show you.
The Ark of the Covenant Law
10“Have them make an ark out of acacia wood. It must be a chest three feet nine inches long and two feet three inches wide and high. 11Cover it inside and outside with pure gold. Put a strip of gold around it. 12Make four gold rings for it. Join them to its four bottom corners. Put two rings on one side and two rings on the other. 13Then make poles out of acacia wood. Cover them with gold. 14Put the poles through the rings on the sides of the ark to carry it. 15The poles must remain in the rings of the ark. Do not remove them. 16I will give you the tablets of the covenant law. When I do, put them into the ark.
17“Make its cover out of pure gold. The cover is the place where sin will be paid for. Make it three feet nine inches long and two feet three inches wide. 18Make two cherubim out of hammered gold at the ends of the cover. 19Put one of the cherubim on each end of it. Make the cherubim part of the cover itself. 20They must have their wings spread up over the cover. The cherubim must face each other and look toward the cover. 21Place the cover on top of the ark. I will give you the tablets of the covenant law. Put them in the ark. 22The ark is where the tablets of the covenant law are kept. I will meet with you above the cover between the two cherubim that are over the ark. There I will give you all my commands for the Israelites.
The Table for the Holy Bread
23“Make a table out of acacia wood. Make it three feet long, one foot six inches wide and two feet three inches high. 24Cover it with pure gold. Put a strip of gold around it. 25Also make a rim around it three inches wide. Put a strip of gold around the rim. 26Make four gold rings for the table. Join them to the four corners, where the four legs are. 27The rings must be close to the rim. They must hold the poles that will be used to carry the table. 28Make the poles out of acacia wood. Cover them with gold. Use them to carry the table. 29Make its plates and dishes out of pure gold. Also make its pitchers and bowls out of pure gold. Use the pitchers and bowls to pour out drink offerings. 30Put the holy bread on the table. It must be near my holy throne on the ark of the covenant law at all times.
The Gold Lampstand
31“Make a lampstand out of pure gold. Hammer out its base and stem. Its buds, blossoms and cups must branch out from it. They must be part of the lampstand itself. 32Six branches must come out from the sides of the lampstand. Make three on one side and three on the other. 33On one branch make three cups that are shaped like almond flowers with buds and blossoms. Then put three on the next branch. Do the same with all six branches that come out from the lampstand. 34On the lampstand there must be four cups that are shaped like almond flowers with buds and blossoms. 35One bud must be under the first pair of branches that come out from the lampstand. Put a second bud under the second pair. And put a third bud under the third pair. Make a total of six branches. 36The buds and branches must come out from the lampstand. The whole lampstand must be one piece hammered out of pure gold.
37“Then make its seven lamps. Set them up on it so that they light the space in front of it. 38The trays and wick cutters must be made out of pure gold. 39Use 75 pounds of pure gold to make the lampstand and everything used with it. 40Be sure to make everything just like the pattern I showed you on the mountain.
