Die achte Vision: Die vier Wagen
1Als ich den Blick hob, hatte ich noch eine Vision: Ich sah vier Streitwagen zwischen zwei Bergen aus Bronze hervorkommen. 2Der erste wurde von rotbraunen Pferden gezogen, der zweite von schwarzen, 3der dritte von weißen und der vierte von gescheckten. Sie alle waren kräftige Tiere.
4»Was soll das bedeuten, mein Herr?«, fragte ich den Engel, der mir alles erklärte. 5Er antwortete: »Diese Gespanne kommen vom Herrn der ganzen Welt und werden nun in seinem Auftrag in alle Himmelsrichtungen ziehen. 6Die schwarzen Pferde reiten nach Norden, die weißen nach Westen6,6 Oder: hinter ihnen her. und die gescheckten nach Süden.«
7Ungeduldig warteten die starken Pferde auf den Befehl zum Aufbruch. Als der Herr sagte: »Los, durchstreift die ganze Erde!«, da galoppierten sie davon. 8Mir aber rief er zu: »Achte auf das Gespann, das nach Norden aufgebrochen ist! Es zieht ins Land des Nordens, um dort meinen Zorn zu stillen.6,8 Der hebräische Text ist nicht sicher zu deuten.«
Ein König für Israel
9Wieder empfing ich eine Botschaft vom Herrn. Er gab mir den Auftrag: 10»Geh noch heute ins Haus von Josia, dem Sohn von Zefanja! Dort sind Heldai, Tobija und Jedaja aus Babylonien eingetroffen, Abgesandte der Juden, die dort noch leben. Nimm die Gaben in Empfang, die sie mitgebracht haben! 11Lass aus dem Silber und Gold eine Krone anfertigen, setze sie dem Hohenpriester Jeschua, dem Sohn von Jozadak, auf 12und sag ihm: ›So spricht der Herr, der allmächtige Gott: Ein Mann wird aus der Nachkommenschaft von David hervorgehen,6,12 Im Hebräischen steht hier noch: ›Spross‹ ist sein Name. – Zur Bedeutung dieses Titels vgl. die Anmerkung zu Kapitel 3,8. unter dessen Herrschaft das Land wieder aufblühen wird. Er ist es, der meinen Tempel wieder aufbauen wird. 13Ja, er wird ihn bauen, und er wird hohes Ansehen genießen, wenn er den Thron besteigt, um über sein Volk zu regieren. Der Hohepriester wird an seiner Seite sein, und es wird völlige Einigkeit zwischen ihnen bestehen.6,13 Oder: Er wird als Hoherpriester auf dem Thron sitzen, und er wird beides (= das Amt des Königs und des Hohenpriesters) in sich vereinen. 14Die Krone soll in meinem Tempel aufbewahrt werden, zur Erinnerung an Heldai, Tobija, Jedaja und an die Gastfreundschaft von Josia. 15Aus weiter Ferne werden Menschen kommen und beim Bau des Tempels mithelfen.‹«
Daran sollt ihr erkennen, dass der Herr, der allmächtige Gott, mich zu euch gesandt hat. Dies alles wird eintreffen, wenn ihr auf den Herrn, euren Gott, hört und ihm gehorcht.
Four chariots
1I looked up again, and there before me were four chariots coming out from between two mountains – mountains of bronze. 2The first chariot had red horses, the second black, 3the third white, and the fourth dappled – all of them powerful. 4I asked the angel who was speaking to me, ‘What are these, my lord?’
5The angel answered me, ‘These are the four spirits6:5 Or winds of heaven, going out from standing in the presence of the Lord of the whole world. 6The one with the black horses is going towards the north country, the one with the white horses towards the west,6:6 Or horses after them and the one with the dappled horses towards the south.’
7When the powerful horses went out, they were straining to go throughout the earth. And he said, ‘Go throughout the earth!’ So they went throughout the earth.
8Then he called to me, ‘Look, those going towards the north country have given my Spirit6:8 Or spirit rest in the land of the north.’
A crown for Joshua
9The word of the Lord came to me: 10‘Take silver and gold from the exiles Heldai, Tobijah and Jedaiah, who have arrived from Babylon. Go the same day to the house of Josiah son of Zephaniah. 11Take the silver and gold and make a crown, and set it on the head of the high priest, Joshua son of Jozadak.6:11 Hebrew Jehozadak, a variant of Jozadak 12Tell him this is what the Lord Almighty says: “Here is the man whose name is the Branch, and he will branch out from his place and build the temple of the Lord. 13It is he who will build the temple of the Lord, and he will be clothed with majesty and will sit and rule on his throne. And he6:13 Or there will be a priest on his throne. And there will be harmony between the two.” 14The crown will be given to Heldai,6:14 Syriac; Hebrew Helem Tobijah, Jedaiah and Hen6:14 Or and the gracious one, the son of Zephaniah as a memorial in the temple of the Lord. 15Those who are far away will come and help to build the temple of the Lord, and you will know that the Lord Almighty has sent me to you. This will happen if you diligently obey the Lord your God.’
