2Ich rufe zu Gott, ja, ich schreie mein Gebet hinaus,
damit er mich endlich hört.
3Ich habe große Angst und sehe keinen Ausweg mehr.
Unaufhörlich bete ich zu Gott –
sogar in der Nacht strecke ich meine Hände nach ihm aus.
Ich bin untröstlich.
4Wenn ich an Gott denke, fange ich an zu seufzen;
grüble ich über meine Lage nach, so verliere ich allen Mut.
5Ich kann nicht schlafen, weil er mich wach hält;
die Unruhe treibt mich umher und lässt mich verstummen.
6Ich erinnere mich an frühere Zeiten,
an Jahre, die längst vergangen sind,
7als ich beim Spiel auf der Harfe noch fröhlich sein konnte.
Jede Nacht grüble ich nach;
das Herz wird mir schwer,
weil meine Gedanken immer um die gleichen Fragen kreisen:
8Hat der Herr uns für alle Zeiten verstoßen?
Wird er nie wieder freundlich zu uns sein?
9Ist seine Gnade für immer zu Ende?
Gelten seine Zusagen nicht mehr?
10Hat Gott vergessen, uns gnädig zu sein?
Warum verschließt er vor uns im Zorn sein Herz?
11Das ist es, was mich am meisten schmerzt:
Gott, der Höchste, verhält sich jetzt anders als vorher –
er setzt sich nicht mehr für uns ein!
12Ich erinnere mich an deine großen Taten, Herr,
und denke an die Wunder, die du einst vollbracht hast.
13Ich führe mir vor Augen, was du getan hast,
immer wieder mache ich es mir bewusst.
14O Gott, heilig ist alles, was du tust.
Kein anderer Gott ist so mächtig wie du!
15Du allein bist der Gott, der Wunder vollbringt;
du hast die Völker deine Macht spüren lassen.
16Mit starker Hand hast du dein Volk
aus der Gefangenschaft in Ägypten befreit,
die Nachkommen von Jakob und Josef.
17Als dich die Wasserfluten sahen, begannen sie zu brodeln,
sogar die Tiefen des Meeres erzitterten vor dir.
18Aus den Wolken floss strömender Regen,
gewaltige Donnerschläge krachten,
und deine Blitze durchzuckten die Luft.
19Ja, im Sturm donnerte deine Stimme;
grelle Blitze erhellten die Erde,
sie zitterte und bebte.
20Du bahntest dir einen Weg mitten durch das Meer.
Dein Pfad führte durch mächtige Fluten,
doch deine Spuren konnte niemand erkennen.
21Durch Mose und Aaron, deine Diener,
hast du dein Volk wie ein Hirte geführt.

10And I said, This is my infirmity: but I will remember the years of the right hand of the most High.

13Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God?
14Thou art the God that doest wonders: thou hast declared thy strength among the people.

18The voice of thy thunder was in the heaven: the lightnings lightened the world: the earth trembled and shook.
19Thy way is in the sea, and thy path in the great waters, and thy footsteps are not known.
20Thou leddest thy people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.
