Gottes gute Ordnungen in der Schöpfung und in seinem Gesetz
1Ein Lied von David.
2Der Himmel verkündet Gottes Hoheit und Macht,
das Firmament bezeugt seine großen Schöpfungstaten.
3Ein Tag erzählt dem nächsten davon,
und eine Nacht sagt es der anderen weiter.
4Dies alles geschieht ohne Worte,
ohne einen vernehmlichen Laut.
5Doch auf der ganzen Erde hört man diese Botschaft,
sie erreicht noch die fernsten Länder.
Der Sonne hat Gott am Himmel ein Zelt aufgeschlagen.
6Am Morgen kommt sie strahlend heraus
wie ein Bräutigam aus seiner Kammer.
Siegesgewiss wie ein Held beginnt sie ihren Lauf;
7am fernen Horizont geht sie auf
und wandert von einem Ende des Himmels zum andern.
Nichts bleibt vor ihrer Hitze verborgen.
8Das Gesetz des Herrn ist vollkommen,
es belebt und schenkt neue Kraft.
Auf seine Gebote kann man sich verlassen.
Sie machen auch den klug,
der bisher gedankenlos in den Tag hineinlebte.
9Die Weisungen des Herrn sind zuverlässig
und erfreuen das Herz.
Die Befehle des Herrn sind klar;
Einsicht gewinnt, wer auf sie achtet.
10Die Ehrfurcht vor dem Herrn ist gut, nie wird sie aufhören.
Die Gebote, die der Herr gegeben hat,
sind richtig, vollkommen und gerecht.
11Sie lassen sich nicht mit Gold aufwiegen,
sie sind süßer als der beste Honig.
12Herr, ich will dir dienen.
Wie gut, dass mich dein Gesetz vor falschen Wegen warnt!
Wer sich an deine Gebote hält, wird reich belohnt.
13Wer aber kann erkennen, ob er nicht doch vom rechten Weg abkommt?
Vergib mir die Verfehlungen, die mir selbst nicht bewusst sind!
14Bewahre mich vor mutwilligen Sünden19,14 Oder: vor gewissenlosen Menschen.
und lass nicht zu, dass sie Macht über mich gewinnen;
dann werde ich dir nie mehr die Treue brechen
und frei sein von schwerer Schuld.
15Herr, lass dir meine Worte und Gedanken gefallen!
Du bist mein schützender Fels, mein starker Erlöser!

6His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.

8The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.

11Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.
12Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.
