Hiob: Wo bleibt denn Gottes Gerechtigkeit?
1Da erwiderte Hiob:
2»Ach, hört mir doch einmal zu!
Damit würdet ihr mich trösten!
3Ertragt mich, wenn ich rede,
und spottet hinterher weiter, wenn ihr wollt!
4Ich trage doch meine Klage nicht einem sterblichen Menschen vor,
darum habe ich allen Grund, ungeduldig zu sein!
5Seht mich an! Lässt euch dieser Anblick kalt?
Verschlägt es euch da nicht die Sprache?
6Ich bin bis ins Innerste aufgewühlt,
ich zittere am ganzen Leib,
wenn ich über dieser Frage grüble:
7Warum bleiben die Gottlosen am Leben,
werden alt und immer mächtiger?
8Ihre Kinder wachsen heran,
und auch ihre Enkel haben sie ständig um sich.
9Gott hält jedes Unglück von ihren Häusern fern;
so leben sie in Frieden, ohne Angst.
10Ihr Stier deckt die Kühe auf der Weide,
und diese kalben ohne Fehlgeburt.
11Ihre Kinder spielen draußen;
sie springen herum wie die Lämmer,
die Jüngsten tanzen fröhlich umher.
12Man singt zu Tamburin und Laute
und feiert beim Klang der Flöte.
13Sie verbringen ihre Jahre glücklich und zufrieden
und sterben einen sanften Tod.
14Und Gott?
›Lass mich in Ruhe!‹, sagen sie zu ihm.
›Ich will von dir nichts wissen
und nicht den Weg gehen, den du mir zeigst!
15Wer ist schon Gott, dass ich ihm dienen sollte,
was bringt es mir, wenn ich zu ihm bete?‹ –
16Und doch: Ihr Glück liegt nicht in ihrer Hand.
Von ihren üblen Reden halte ich mich fern! –
17Wie oft geschieht’s denn,
dass ihr Licht verlöscht,
das Licht der Menschen, die Gott verachten?
Wie oft holt sie das Unheil ein?
Wann trifft sie jemals Gottes Zorn?
18Wann endlich sind sie wie Spreu im Wind,
wie ein Strohhalm, den der Sturm wegwirbelt?
19Ihr sagt: ›Aufgeschoben ist nicht aufgehoben.
Gott straft stattdessen ihre Kinder!‹
Nein! Sie selbst sollen Gottes Strafe spüren!
20Mit eigenen Augen sollen Übeltäter ihr Verderben sehen,
vom Zorn des Allmächtigen bis zur bitteren Neige kosten!
21Denn was kümmert sie das Schicksal ihrer Kinder,
wenn ihr eigenes Leben abgelaufen ist?
22Gott richtet selbst die höchsten Engel21,22 Wörtlich: die Erhabenen..
Wer unter uns will ihn da noch belehren?
23Der eine stirbt, noch voll bei Kräften,
hat sicher und sorglos gelebt.
24Seine Melkeimer flossen stets über von frischer Milch;
er selbst war gesund und wohlgenährt.
25Der andere stirbt einsam und verbittert,
er hat sein Leben lang nicht eine Spur von Glück gesehen.
26Nun liegen sie beide unter der Erde,
werden beide von Würmern zerfressen!
27Ich weiß genau, was ihr jetzt denkt,
mit welchen Vorurteilen ihr mir unrecht tut!
28Ihr sagt: ›Wo ist es geblieben, das Haus des Tyrannen?
Von der Bleibe der Gottlosen ist nichts mehr zu sehen!‹
29Doch habt ihr noch nie mit Reisenden gesprochen,
die weit herumgekommen sind,
und noch nie gehört, was sie erzählten:
30dass der Böse verschont wird,
wenn Gott in seinem Zorn Gericht hält?
Er kommt mit heiler Haut davon!
31Wer sagt ihm ins Gesicht, was er getan hat?
Wer bestraft ihn, wie er es verdient? Keiner!
32Nach seinem Tod wird er mit allen Ehren beigesetzt;
an seinem Grab hält man noch Ehrenwache!
33Unübersehbar ist sein Leichenzug,
der ihn zur letzten Ruh’ geleitet,
und Heimaterde deckt ihn freundlich zu.
34Wollt ihr mich mit blankem Schwindel trösten?
Jede Antwort, die ihr gebt, ist eine glatte Lüge!«
