Der Fluss, der aus dem Tempel kommt
1Dann führte mich der Mann noch einmal zum Eingang des Tempelgebäudes, der nach Osten lag. Dort entdeckte ich, dass Wasser unter der Schwelle hervorquoll. Erst floss es ein Stück an der Vorderseite des Tempels entlang, dann südlich am Altar vorbei und weiter nach Osten. 2Der Mann verließ mit mir den Tempelbezirk durch das Nordtor des äußeren Vorhofs, und wir gingen an der Außenmauer entlang bis zum Osttor. Ich sah, wie das Wasser an der Südseite des Torgebäudes hervorströmte.
3Wir folgten dem Wasserlauf in östlicher Richtung; nachdem der Mann mit seiner Messlatte 500 Meter ausgemessen hatte, ließ er mich an dieser Stelle durch das Wasser gehen. Es war bloß knöcheltief. 4Wieder maß er 500 Meter aus, und jetzt reichte es mir schon bis an die Knie. Nach weiteren 500 Metern stand ich bis zur Hüfte im Wasser. 5Ein letztes Mal folgte ich dem Mann 500 Meter, und nun war das Wasser zu einem tiefen Fluss geworden, durch den ich nicht mehr gehen konnte. Man konnte nur noch hindurchschwimmen.
6Der Mann fragte mich: »Hast du das gesehen, du Mensch?« Dann brachte er mich wieder ans Ufer zurück.
7Ich sah, dass auf beiden Seiten des Flusses sehr viele Bäume standen. 8Der Mann sagte zu mir: »Dieser Fluss fließt weiter nach Osten in das Gebiet oberhalb der Jordan-Ebene, dann durchquert er die Ebene und mündet schließlich ins Tote Meer. Dort verwandelt er das Salzwasser in gesundes Süßwasser. 9Überall wohin der Fluss kommt, da schenkt er Leben. Ja, durch ihn wird das Wasser des Toten Meeres gesund, so dass es darin von Tieren wimmelt. 10Am Ufer des Meeres leben dann Fischer, von En-Gedi bis En-Eglajim breiten sie ihre Netze zum Trocknen aus. Fische aller Art wird es wieder dort geben, so zahlreich wie im Mittelmeer. 11Nur in den Sümpfen und Teichen rund um das Tote Meer wird kein Süßwasser sein. Aus ihnen soll man auch in Zukunft Salz gewinnen können. 12An beiden Ufern des Flusses wachsen alle Arten von Obstbäumen. Ihre Blätter verwelken nie, und sie tragen immerfort reiche Frucht. Denn der Fluss, der ihren Wurzeln Wasser gibt, kommt aus dem Heiligtum. Monat für Monat bringen sie neue, wohlschmeckende Früchte hervor, und ihre Blätter dienen den Menschen als Heilmittel.«
Die Grenzen Israels
13Dann sprach Gott, der Herr, zu mir: »Ich will dir die Grenzen des Landes beschreiben, das ihr unter die zwölf Stämme Israels aufteilen sollt. Dabei stehen den Nachkommen von Josef zwei Gebiete zu. 14Euren Vorfahren habe ich geschworen, ihnen dieses Land zu schenken. Darum sollt ihr es für immer behalten und an eure Nachkommen weitervererben. Teilt es so unter euch auf, dass jeder Stamm sein eigenes Gebiet erhält!
15Die Nordgrenze des Landes verläuft vom Mittelmeer ostwärts in Richtung der Städte Hetlon, Lebo-Hamat und Zedad, 16dann weiter nach Berota47,16 So nach der griechischen Übersetzung (vgl. Kapitel 48,1). Der hebräische Text lautet: … über Zedad, Lebo, Hamat, Berota. und Sibrajim, das an der Grenze zwischen dem Herrschaftsbereich von Damaskus und dem von Hamat liegt. Dann führt sie zur Stadt Hazar-Enan47,16 So nach der griechischen Übersetzung (vgl. Vers 17). Der hebräische Text lautet: Hazar-Tikon. am Rand des Haurangebirges. 17Nördlich dieser Linie vom Mittelmeer bis nach Hazar-Enan liegt der Herrschaftsbereich von Damaskus und von Hamat.
18Die Ostgrenze beginnt dort, wo das Gebiet von Damaskus an das Haurangebirge grenzt. Von dort an bildet der Jordan die Grenze zwischen dem Land Israel im Westen und der Landschaft Gilead im Osten, bis hinunter zur Stadt Tamar am Toten Meer47,18 So nach der griechischen Übersetzung. 19Die Südgrenze verläuft von Tamar bis zu der Quelle Meriba bei Kadesch und von dort weiter zu dem Bach, der die Grenze nach Ägypten bildet und ins Mittelmeer mündet.
20Die Westgrenze bildet das Mittelmeer bis hinauf nach Lebo-Hamat.
21Teilt dieses Land unter die Stämme Israels auf. 22Ihr sollt es für immer besitzen und an eure Nachkommen weitervererben. Jede Familie bekommt ihren Anteil durch das Los zugewiesen; dabei sollen die Fremden, die unter euch leben und ihre Kinder bei euch großziehen, genauso berücksichtigt werden. Wenn das Land der einzelnen Stämme aufgeteilt wird, dann behandelt die Fremden und ihre Familien wie euresgleichen. 23In dem Stammesgebiet, wo sie wohnen, steht ihnen ihr eigener Anteil zu. Ich, Gott, der Herr, will es so.«
A River Will Flow From the Temple
1The man brought me back to the entrance to the temple. I saw water flowing east from under a temple gateway. The temple faced east. The water was coming down from under the south side of the temple. It was flowing south of the altar. 2Then he brought me out through the north gate of the outer courtyard. He led me around the outside to the outer gate that faced east. The water was flowing from the south side of the east gate.
3Then the man went toward the east. He had a measuring line in his hand. He measured off 1,700 feet. He led me through water that was up to my ankles. 4Then he measured off another 1,700 feet. He led me through water that was up to my knees. Then he measured off another 1,700 feet. He led me through water that was up to my waist. 5Then he measured off another 1,700 feet. But now it was a river that I could not go across. The water had risen so high that it was deep enough to swim in. 6He asked me, “Son of man, do you see this?”
Then he led me back to the bank of the river. 7When I arrived there, I saw many trees. They were on both sides of the river. 8The man said to me, “This water flows toward the eastern territory. It goes down into the Arabah Valley. There it enters the Dead Sea. When it empties into it, the salt water there becomes fresh. 9Many creatures will live where the river flows. It will have many schools of fish. This water flows there and makes the salt water fresh. So where the river flows everything will live. 10People will stand along the shore to fish. From En Gedi all the way to En Eglaim there will be places for spreading fishnets. The Dead Sea will have many kinds of fish. They will be like the fish in the Mediterranean Sea. 11But none of the swamps will have fresh water in them. They will stay salty. 12Fruit trees of all kinds will grow on both banks of the river. Their leaves will not dry up. The trees will always have fruit on them. Every month they will bear fruit. The water from the temple will flow to them. Their fruit will be used for food. And their leaves will be used for healing.”
The Borders of the Land
13Here is what the Lord and King says. “People of Israel, here are the borders of the land that you will divide up. You will divide up the land among the 12 tribes of Israel. Each tribe will receive a share. But the family of Joseph will have two shares. 14Divide the land into equal parts. Long ago I raised my hand and made a promise. I promised to give the land to your people of long ago. So all of it will belong to you.
15“Here are the borders of the land.
“On the north side the border will start at the Mediterranean Sea. It will go by the Hethlon road past Lebo Hamath. Then it will continue on to Zedad, 16Berothah and Sibraim. Sibraim is between Damascus and Hamath. The border will reach all the way to Hazer Hattikon. It is right next to Hauran. 17The border will go from the sea to Hazar Enan. It will run north of Damascus and south of Hamath. This will be the northern border.
18On the east side the border will run between Hauran and Damascus. It will continue along the Jordan River between Gilead and the land of Israel. It will reach to the Dead Sea and all the way to Tamar. This will be the eastern border.
19On the south side the border will start at Tamar. It will reach all the way to the waters of Meribah Kadesh. Then it will run along the Wadi of Egypt. It will end at the Mediterranean Sea. This will be the southern border.
20On the west side, the Mediterranean Sea will be the border. It will go to a point across from Lebo Hamath. This will be the western border.
21“You must divide up this land among yourselves. Do this based on the number of men in your tribes. 22Each of the tribes must receive a share of the land. You must also give some land to the outsiders who live among you and who have children. Treat them as if they had been born in Israel. Let them have some land among your tribes. 23Outsiders can live in the land of any tribe. There you must give them their share,” announces the Lord and King.
