Gott zieht Jerusalem und ganz Israel zur Rechenschaft
(Kapitel 4–24)
Jerusalem wird belagert
1»Du Mensch, nimm dir einen Ziegelstein, leg ihn vor dich hin und ritz die Umrisse der Stadt Jerusalem hinein! 2Mit diesem Stein sollst du vormachen, wie Jerusalem belagert werden wird: Schütte rings um ihn einen Wall auf, bau eine Angriffsrampe und setz von allen Seiten Rammböcke gegen die Mauer. Leg außerdem befestigte Heerlager rundherum an! 3Nimm dann ein Backblech aus Eisen und stell es als eiserne Mauer zwischen dich und den Stein mit der Stadt! Wende dich gegen die Stadt und tu so, als würdest du sie belagern! Auf diese Weise sollst du den Israeliten zeigen, was sie erwartet.
4-5Dann leg dich auf die linke Seite als Zeichen dafür, dass du die Schuld des Volkes Israel auf dich nimmst! 390 Tage musst du am Boden liegen, denn genauso viele Jahre haben sie mich verlassen. 6Danach leg dich auf die rechte Seite und trag die Schuld des Reiches Juda: Vierzig Tage bürde ich dir diese Last auf, einen Tag für jedes Jahr, in dem sie sich von mir abgewandt haben. 7Richte deinen Blick dabei auf das belagerte Jerusalem, droh den Leuten mit erhobener Faust und kündige ihnen mein Gericht an. 8Schau, ich binde dich mit Stricken fest, damit du dich nicht von einer Seite auf die andere drehen kannst, bis du diese Zeit der Belagerung überstanden hast.
9Hol dir vorher noch Weizen, Gerste, Bohnen, Linsen, Hirse und Dinkel, vermenge sie in einem Gefäß und backe Brot daraus. Solange du auf der linken Seite liegst, 390 Tage lang, sollst du davon essen. 10-11250 Gramm Brot und einen Dreiviertelliter Wasser darfst du an einem Tag zu dir nehmen. Wieg sie genau ab, und dann iss und trink zu festgelegten Zeiten!
12Bereite das Brot so zu wie Gerstenbrot und back es vor aller Augen über einem Feuer, das du mit Menschenkot anheizt! 13Denn ich sage dir: Wenn ich die Israeliten verstoße und sie unter fremden Völkern leben, werden sie ebenfalls Brot essen müssen, das nach dem Gesetz als unrein gilt.« 14Entsetzt erwiderte ich: »Ach, Herr und Gott! Du weißt doch, dass ich mich noch nie verunreinigt habe! In meinem ganzen Leben habe ich nie von einem verendeten oder zerrissenen Tier gegessen, nie habe ich unreines Fleisch in den Mund genommen!« 15»Nun gut«, antwortete der Herr, »ich gestatte dir, das Brot auf dem Mist von Rindern statt auf Menschenkot zu backen.«
16Und er fügte hinzu: »Du Mensch, schon bald lasse ich alle Vorräte in Jerusalem zu Ende gehen. Dann müssen sie genau wie du ihr Brot und Wasser streng einteilen. Ständig werden sie in Angst und Sorge leben. 17Ja, Brot und Wasser werden so knapp, dass die Einwohner verzweifeln und sie einer nach dem anderen zugrunde gehen. So müssen sie für ihre Schuld büßen.«

9¶ Take thou also unto thee wheat, and barley, and beans, and lentiles, and millet, and fitches, and put them in one vessel, and make thee bread thereof, according to the number of the days that thou shalt lie upon thy side, three hundred and ninety days shalt thou eat thereof.4.9 fitches: or, spelt 10And thy meat which thou shalt eat shall be by weight, twenty shekels a day: from time to time shalt thou eat it. 11Thou shalt drink also water by measure, the sixth part of an hin: from time to time shalt thou drink. 12And thou shalt eat it as barley cakes, and thou shalt bake it with dung that cometh out of man, in their sight. 13And the LORD said, Even thus shall the children of Israel eat their defiled bread among the Gentiles, whither I will drive them. 14Then said I, Ah Lord GOD! behold, my soul hath not been polluted: for from my youth up even till now have I not eaten of that which dieth of itself, or is torn in pieces; neither came there abominable flesh into my mouth. 15Then he said unto me, Lo, I have given thee cow’s dung for man’s dung, and thou shalt prepare thy bread therewith. 16Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, behold, I will break the staff of bread in Jerusalem: and they shall eat bread by weight, and with care; and they shall drink water by measure, and with astonishment: 17That they may want bread and water, and be astonied one with another, and consume away for their iniquity.
