Die Verantwortung der Priester und Leviten
1Der Herr sprach zu Aaron: »Du trägst zusammen mit deinen Söhnen und der ganzen Familie deines Vaters die Verantwortung für das heilige Zelt. Wenn dort gegen meine Gebote verstoßen wird, trifft euch die Schuld. Und wenn ihr beim Priesterdienst meine Anweisungen missachtet, ziehe ich euch dafür zur Rechenschaft. 2Denn diese Aufgaben sind allein euch anvertraut. Die anderen Leviten dürfen sich zusammen mit euch dem Heiligtum nähern. Sie sollen euch begleiten und euch helfen, wenn ihr dort euren Dienst verrichtet. 3Was ihr ihnen auftragt, sollen sie tun und alle Arbeiten erledigen, die beim heiligen Zelt anfallen. Nur den heiligen Gefäßen und Werkzeugen und dem Altar dürfen sie sich nicht nähern, sonst müssen sie sterben und ihr mit ihnen. 4Die Leviten sollen also an eurer Seite die erforderlichen Arbeiten im Heiligtum ausführen. Außer ihnen darf jedoch niemand zu euch in das Heiligtum kommen. 5-6Denkt daran: Eure levitischen Brüder sind mein Geschenk an euch. Ich habe sie aus allen Stämmen Israels ausgewählt, damit sie mir im Heiligtum dienen. Aber für den Altar und das heilige Zelt selbst seid allein ihr Priester zuständig. Niemand anderes darf sich in euer Amt einmischen, damit mein Zorn nicht wieder über euch Israeliten hereinbricht. 7Das Priestertum ist nur dir und deinen Söhnen anvertraut. Ihr allein dürft die Opfer auf dem Altar darbringen und das Allerheiligste hinter dem Vorhang betreten. Das sind ausschließlich eure Aufgaben. Das Priestertum ist mein Geschenk an euch. Jeder andere, der sich in euer Amt drängt, muss sterben.«
Der Anteil der Priester an den Opfern
8Weiter sprach der Herr zu Aaron: »Du weißt, dass ich euch Priestern von jedem meiner Opfer einen Anteil als Lohn geben werde. Dies soll für alle Zeiten so bleiben. 9Außerdem habe ich die heiligsten Gaben, die mir die Israeliten darbringen, für euch bestimmt: jedes Speiseopfer, Sündopfer und Schuldopfer. Alles, was nicht auf dem Altar verbrannt wird, gehört dir und deinen Söhnen. Achtet es als etwas besonders Heiliges! 10Ihr Männer sollt es im Vorhof des Heiligtums essen.
11Doch die Gaben, die vor dem Altar hin- und hergeschwungen und so mir geweiht werden, sind für alle eure Angehörigen bestimmt, Männer, Frauen und Kinder. Jeder aus eurer Sippe darf davon essen, wenn er rein ist. Euer Anspruch auf diesen Anteil am Opfer soll für immer bestehen bleiben. 12Außerdem gebe ich euch das Beste von Öl, Most und Getreide, die erste Ernte, die man mir darbringt. 13Auch die ersten Früchte, die im Land wachsen und die man im Heiligtum abgibt, gehören euch. Jeder aus eurer Sippe, der rein ist, darf davon essen. 14Ihr erhaltet alles, was die Israeliten mir unwiderruflich weihen. 15Darüber hinaus gehört euch jeder älteste Sohn in Israel und jedes männliche Tier, das als erstes geboren und mir dargebracht wird. Allerdings sollt ihr die Kinder freikaufen lassen, ebenso die unreinen Tiere, die nicht als Opfer in Frage kommen.
16Sobald der erstgeborene Sohn einer Familie einen Monat alt ist, sollen für ihn 5 Silberstücke zu je 12 Gramm bezahlt werden, nach dem im Heiligtum gültigen Gewicht. 17Aber reine Tiere wie Rinder, Schafe und Ziegen sollt ihr nicht freikaufen lassen, denn sie gehören allein mir. Besprengt den Altar mit ihrem Blut und lasst ihr Fett in Rauch aufgehen, um mich mit diesem wohlriechenden Brandopfer zu erfreuen. 18Das Fleisch dieser Tiere aber soll euch Priestern gehören, so wie bei den Opfern, wo ihr den rechten Hinterschenkel und die Brust vor dem Eingang des heiligen Zeltes hin- und herschwingt, um zu zeigen, dass sie mir geweiht sind.
19Alle diese Anteile an den Opfertieren gebe ich euch und euren Angehörigen, Männern, Frauen und Kindern. So soll es für alle Zeiten bleiben. Darauf gebe ich euch mein Wort, und ich werde es niemals brechen!18,19 Wörtlich: Es ist ein ewiger Salzbund zwischen dem Herrn und dir und deinen Nachkommen. – Bündnisse wurden durch das Essen von Salz besiegelt. Der Anteil der Leviten
20Dann sprach der Herr zu Aaron: »Dein Stamm wird in Kanaan kein Land erhalten und kein eigenes Gebiet besitzen wie die anderen Israeliten. Denn ich selbst bin euer Anteil und Erbe. 21Den Leviten gebe ich als Lohn für ihren Dienst den zehnten Teil der Ernte, den die Israeliten zum Heiligtum bringen. 22Außer ihnen darf in Zukunft kein anderer Israelit dem heiligen Zelt zu nahe kommen. Das wäre eine Sünde, für die er mit dem Leben bezahlen muss. 23Nur die Leviten dürfen die Arbeiten am Heiligtum verrichten, sie sind dort für alles verantwortlich. So soll es immer bleiben, heute und für alle künftigen Generationen. Die Leviten erhalten also kein eigenes Stammesgebiet in Israel, 24sondern bekommen stattdessen den zehnten Teil der Ernte, den die Israeliten mir als Abgabe bringen.«
Die Abgabe der Leviten für den Herrn
25-26Außerdem ließ der Herr den Leviten durch Mose ausrichten: »Ich habe euch den zehnten Teil von allem zugesagt, was in Israel geerntet wird. Davon sollt ihr mir wiederum den zehnten Teil geben. 27Dieses Opfer zählt für mich genauso, als hättet ihr das Getreide selbst gedroschen und den Wein selbst gekeltert. 28Wie die anderen Israeliten sollt auch ihr Leviten mir einen Teil von allem geben, was ihr bekommt. Bringt es dem Priester Aaron. 29Das Beste von eurem Anteil sollt ihr mir überlassen, denn es ist heilig und gehört mir. 30Wenn ihr das tut, dann nehme ich eure Gabe an, als hättet ihr Getreide und Wein aus eurer eigenen Ernte dargebracht. 31Euren Anteil könnt ihr dann mit euren Familien essen, wo immer ihr wollt. Schließlich ist dies der Lohn, der euch für eure Arbeit am heiligen Zelt zusteht. 32Wenn ihr vorher das Beste abgegeben habt, ladet ihr keine Schuld auf euch. So sorgt ihr dafür, dass die heiligen Gaben der Israeliten nicht entweiht werden und ihr nicht sterben müsst.«
1And the LORD said unto Aaron, Thou and thy sons and thy father’s house with thee shall bear the iniquity of the sanctuary: and thou and thy sons with thee shall bear the iniquity of your priesthood. 2And thy brethren also of the tribe of Levi, the tribe of thy father, bring thou with thee, that they may be joined unto thee, and minister unto thee: but thou and thy sons with thee shall minister before the tabernacle of witness. 3And they shall keep thy charge, and the charge of all the tabernacle: only they shall not come nigh the vessels of the sanctuary and the altar, that neither they, nor ye also, die. 4And they shall be joined unto thee, and keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, for all the service of the tabernacle: and a stranger shall not come nigh unto you. 5And ye shall keep the charge of the sanctuary, and the charge of the altar: that there be no wrath any more upon the children of Israel. 6And I, behold, I have taken your brethren the Levites from among the children of Israel: to you they are given as a gift for the LORD, to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation. 7Therefore thou and thy sons with thee shall keep your priest’s office for every thing of the altar, and within the vail; and ye shall serve: I have given your priest’s office unto you as a service of gift: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.
8¶ And the LORD spake unto Aaron, Behold, I also have given thee the charge of mine heave offerings of all the hallowed things of the children of Israel; unto thee have I given them by reason of the anointing, and to thy sons, by an ordinance for ever. 9This shall be thine of the most holy things, reserved from the fire: every oblation of theirs, every meat offering of theirs, and every sin offering of theirs, and every trespass offering of theirs, which they shall render unto me, shall be most holy for thee and for thy sons. 10In the most holy place shalt thou eat it; every male shall eat it: it shall be holy unto thee. 11And this is thine; the heave offering of their gift, with all the wave offerings of the children of Israel: I have given them unto thee, and to thy sons and to thy daughters with thee, by a statute for ever: every one that is clean in thy house shall eat of it. 12All the best of the oil, and all the best of the wine, and of the wheat, the firstfruits of them which they shall offer unto the LORD, them have I given thee.18.12 best: Heb. fat 13And whatsoever is first ripe in the land, which they shall bring unto the LORD, shall be thine; every one that is clean in thine house shall eat of it. 14Every thing devoted in Israel shall be thine. 15Every thing that openeth the matrix in all flesh, which they bring unto the LORD, whether it be of men or beasts, shall be thine: nevertheless the firstborn of man shalt thou surely redeem, and the firstling of unclean beasts shalt thou redeem. 16And those that are to be redeemed from a month old shalt thou redeem, according to thine estimation, for the money of five shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary, which is twenty gerahs. 17But the firstling of a cow, or the firstling of a sheep, or the firstling of a goat, thou shalt not redeem; they are holy: thou shalt sprinkle their blood upon the altar, and shalt burn their fat for an offering made by fire, for a sweet savour unto the LORD. 18And the flesh of them shall be thine, as the wave breast and as the right shoulder are thine. 19All the heave offerings of the holy things, which the children of Israel offer unto the LORD, have I given thee, and thy sons and thy daughters with thee, by a statute for ever: it is a covenant of salt for ever before the LORD unto thee and to thy seed with thee.
20¶ And the LORD spake unto Aaron, Thou shalt have no inheritance in their land, neither shalt thou have any part among them: I am thy part and thine inheritance among the children of Israel. 21And, behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tenth in Israel for an inheritance, for their service which they serve, even the service of the tabernacle of the congregation. 22Neither must the children of Israel henceforth come nigh the tabernacle of the congregation, lest they bear sin, and die.18.22 and die: Heb. to die 23But the Levites shall do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation, and they shall bear their iniquity: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations, that among the children of Israel they have no inheritance. 24But the tithes of the children of Israel, which they offer as an heave offering unto the LORD, I have given to the Levites to inherit: therefore I have said unto them, Among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance.
25¶ And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 26Thus speak unto the Levites, and say unto them, When ye take of the children of Israel the tithes which I have given you from them for your inheritance, then ye shall offer up an heave offering of it for the LORD, even a tenth part of the tithe. 27And this your heave offering shall be reckoned unto you, as though it were the corn of the threshingfloor, and as the fulness of the winepress. 28Thus ye also shall offer an heave offering unto the LORD of all your tithes, which ye receive of the children of Israel; and ye shall give thereof the LORD’s heave offering to Aaron the priest. 29Out of all your gifts ye shall offer every heave offering of the LORD, of all the best thereof, even the hallowed part thereof out of it.18.29 best: Heb. fat 30Therefore thou shalt say unto them, When ye have heaved the best thereof from it, then it shall be counted unto the Levites as the increase of the threshingfloor, and as the increase of the winepress.18.30 best: Heb. fat 31And ye shall eat it in every place, ye and your households: for it is your reward for your service in the tabernacle of the congregation. 32And ye shall bear no sin by reason of it, when ye have heaved from it the best of it: neither shall ye pollute the holy things of the children of Israel, lest ye die.
