Didto sa Kamingawan
1“Dayon nagbalik kita kag nagkadto sa kamingawan pakadto sa Mapula nga Dagat, suno sa ginmando sang Ginoo sa akon. Kag sa madugay nga tion naglibot-libot kita sa kabukiran sang Seir. 2Dayon nagsiling ang Ginoo sa akon, 3‘Dugay na kamo nga nagalibot-libot sa sini nga kabukiran. Karon, magderetso na kamo sa aminhan. 4Silinga ang mga tawo, “Magaagi kamo sa teritoryo sang inyo mga kadugo nga mga kaliwat ni Esau, nga nagaestar sa Seir. Mahadlok sila sa inyo, gani maghalong kamo 5nga indi ninyo sila pagsalakayon. Kay ginahatag ko sa ila ang mga kabukiran sang Seir bilang ila duta, kag indi ko kamo paghatagan sang ila duta bisan gamay lang. 6Bayaran ninyo sila sang kuwarta sa inyo makaon kag mainom. 7Dumdumon ninyo kon paano ko kamo ginbendisyunan sa tanan ninyo nga ginhimo. Ako, ang Ginoo nga inyo Dios, ang nagbantay sa inyo sa pagpanglakaton ninyo sa sining malapad nga kamingawan. Sa sulod sang 40 ka tuig nag-upod ako sa inyo, kag wala gid kamo nakulangi sang bisan ano.” ’
8“Gani nag-agi lang kita sa aton mga kadugo nga mga kaliwat ni Esau, nga nagaestar sa Seir. Wala kita nag-agi sa dalan sang Kapatagan sang Jordan,2:8 Kapatagan sang Jordan: sa Hebreo, Araba. nga nagahalin sa mga banwa sang Elat kag Ezion Geber. Sang nagapanglakaton kita sa alagyan sa kamingawan sang Moab, 9nagsiling ang Ginoo sa akon, ‘Indi ninyo paggamuha ukon pagsalakaya ang mga Moabnon nga mga kaliwat ni Lot, kay ginhatag ko sa ila ang Ar bilang ila duta, kag indi ko kamo paghatagan sang ila duta bisan gamay lang.’ ”
10(Sang una didto nagaestar sa Ar ang madamo kag makusog nga mga tawo nga ginatawag Emhanon. Mga mataas man sila nga mga tawo pareho sang mga kaliwat ni Anak. 11Ginatawag man sila nga mga Refaimnon, pareho sang mga kaliwat ni Anak, pero ginatawag sila sang mga Moabnon nga mga Emhanon. 12Sang una didto nagaestar ang mga Horhanon sa Seir, pero ginlaglag sila kag gintabog sang mga kaliwat ni Esau, kag sila na ang nag-estar didto, pareho sang ginhimo sang mga Israelinhon sa mga Canaanhon sa duta nga ginhatag sang Ginoo sa ila.)
13“Dayon nagsiling ang Ginoo nga matabok kita sa Zered nga ililigan sang tubig, gani nagtabok kita. 14Ini pagkaligad sang 38 ka tuig halin sang tion nga naghalin kita sa Kadesh Barnea. Nagkalamatay na sa kamingawan ang mga soldado nga Israelinhon sa sina nga henerasyon, suno sa ginsumpa sang Ginoo sa ila. 15Ginsilutan sila sang Ginoo hasta nga gin-ubos niya sila pamatay sa kampo.
16“Sang nagkalamatay na ang tanan nga soldado, 17nagsiling sa akon ang Ginoo, 18‘Matabok kamo subong sa dulunan sang Moab sa Ar. 19Kon makaabot na kamo sa mga Ammonhon, nga mga kaliwat ni Lot, indi ninyo sila paggamuha ukon pagsalakaya kay ginhatag ko sa ila ang ila duta, kag indi ko kamo paghatagan sang ila duta bisan gamay lang.’
20“Ang amo nga duta ginkabig sang una nga duta sang mga Refaimnon kay gin-estaran nila ini. Ini sila gintawag sang mga Ammonhon nga Zamzumnon. 21Ini sila madamo kag makusog, kag mataas pareho sang mga kaliwat ni Anak. Pero ginpalaglag sila sang Ginoo sa mga Ammonhon. Gintabog sila sang mga Ammonhon kag gin-estaran ang ila duta. 22Pareho man sina ang pagbulig sang Ginoo sa mga kaliwat ni Esau nga nagaestar sa Seir. Kay ginpalaglag sa ila sang Ginoo ang mga Horhanon. Gintabog nila ang mga Horhanon kag gin-estaran ang ila duta hasta subong. 23Amo man sini ang natabo sang ginsalakay sang mga taga-Caftor2:23 taga-Caftor: ukon, taga-Crete. ang mga taga-Avim nga nagaestar sa mga baryo sa Gaza. Ginlaglag nila ang mga taga-Avim kag gin-estaran ang ila duta.
24“Dayon nagsiling ang Ginoo, ‘Karon magtabok na kamo sa Arnon nga ililigan sang tubig. Ginatugyan ko sa inyo si Sihon nga Amornon nga hari sang Heshbon, kag ang iya duta. Salakaya ninyo siya kag panag-iyahi ang iya duta. 25Sugod subong pahadlukon ko sa inyo ang tanan nga nasyon sa bug-os nga kalibutan. Magakulurog sa kahadlok ang makabati parte sa inyo.’
Napierdi si Haring Sihon sang Heshbon
(Num. 21:21-30)
26“Gani sang didto kita sa kamingawan sang Kedemot, nagpadala ako sang mga mensahero kay Haring Sihon sang Heshbon sa paghambal sa iya sining akon mensahi nga para sa kaayuhan sang amon relasyon: 27‘Kon mahimo tuguti kami sa pag-agi sa inyo duta. Indi kami mag-agi sa iban nga mga dalan kundi sa inyo lang mayor nga dalan. 28Bayaran namon sang kuwarta ang amon makaon kag mainom. Ang amon lang pangabay amo nga tugutan mo kami sa pag-agi sa inyo duta 29pareho sang pagtugot sa amon sang mga kaliwat ni Esau nga nagaestar sa Seir kag sang mga Moabnon nga nagaestar sa Ar. Tuguti kami sa pag-agi hasta nga makatabok kami sa Suba sang Jordan pakadto sa duta nga ginahatag sang Ginoo nga amon Dios sa amon.’ 30Pero wala nagsugot si Haring Sihon sang Heshbon sa pagpaagi sa aton. Kay ginpatig-a sang Ginoo nga inyo Dios ang iya tagipusuon agod itugyan siya sa aton mga kamot, pareho sang natabo subong.
31“Dayon nagsiling ang Ginoo sa akon, ‘Ginaumpisahan ko na sa pagtugyan sa inyo si Sihon kag ang iya duta; gani umpisahi na ninyo ang pagsalakay kag pagsakop sang iya duta.’
32“Sang nagpakig-away sa aton si Sihon kag ang tanan niya nga soldado2:32 soldado: ukon, katawhan. Amo man sa sunod nga bersikulo. didto sa Jahaz, 33gintugyan siya sa aton sang Ginoo nga aton Dios kag ginpatay ta siya, pati ang iya mga anak kag ang tanan niya nga soldado. 34Sadto nga tion, gin-agaw naton ang tanan niya nga banwa kag ginlaglag sila sing bug-os2:34 ginlaglag sila sing bug-os: Ang Hebreo nga pulong sini nagakahulugan sang mga gintugyan sa Ginoo paagi sa paghalad ukon paglaglag sini.—mga lalaki, babayi, kag kabataan. Wala gid kita sing ginbilin sa ila nga buhi. 35Ginpangdala naton ang ila mga kasapatan kag mga pagkabutang nga aton naagaw sa ila mga banwa.
36“Ginbuligan kita sang Ginoo nga aton Dios sa pag-agaw sang Aroer sa higad sang Arnon nga ililigan sang tubig kag sang banwa nga malapit sa sini nga ililigan kag sang mga lugar hasta sa Gilead. Wala sing banwa nga mabakod para sa aton. 37Pero suno sa ginsugo sa aton sang Ginoo nga aton Dios, wala naton pagpalapiti ang bisan diin nga duta sang mga Ammonhon, bisan ang duta nga ara sa higad sang Jabok ukon ang mga banwa sa palibot sang mga kabukiran.
1Then we turned, and took our journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea, as the LORD spake unto me: and we compassed mount Seir many days. 2And the LORD spake unto me, saying, 3Ye have compassed this mountain long enough: turn you northward. 4And command thou the people, saying, Ye are to pass through the coast of your brethren the children of Esau, which dwell in Seir; and they shall be afraid of you: take ye good heed unto yourselves therefore: 5Meddle not with them; for I will not give you of their land, no, not so much as a foot breadth; because I have given mount Seir unto Esau for a possession.2.5 no…: Heb. even to the treading of the sole of the foot 6Ye shall buy meat of them for money, that ye may eat; and ye shall also buy water of them for money, that ye may drink. 7For the LORD thy God hath blessed thee in all the works of thy hand: he knoweth thy walking through this great wilderness: these forty years the LORD thy God hath been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.
8And when we passed by from our brethren the children of Esau, which dwelt in Seir, through the way of the plain from Elath, and from Ezion-gaber, we turned and passed by the way of the wilderness of Moab. 9And the LORD said unto me, Distress not the Moabites, neither contend with them in battle: for I will not give thee of their land for a possession; because I have given Ar unto the children of Lot for a possession.2.9 Distress…: or, Use no hostility against Moab 10The Emims dwelt therein in times past, a people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims; 11Which also were accounted giants, as the Anakims; but the Moabites call them Emims. 12The Horims also dwelt in Seir beforetime; but the children of Esau succeeded them, when they had destroyed them from before them, and dwelt in their stead; as Israel did unto the land of his possession, which the LORD gave unto them.2.12 succeeded: Heb. inherited2.12 stead: or, room 13Now rise up, said I, and get you over the brook Zered. And we went over the brook Zered.2.13 brook: or, valley 14And the space in which we came from Kadesh-barnea, until we were come over the brook Zered, was thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were wasted out from among the host, as the LORD sware unto them.2.14 brook: or, valley 15For indeed the hand of the LORD was against them, to destroy them from among the host, until they were consumed.
16¶ So it came to pass, when all the men of war were consumed and dead from among the people, 17That the LORD spake unto me, saying, 18Thou art to pass over through Ar, the coast of Moab, this day: 19And when thou comest nigh over against the children of Ammon, distress them not, nor meddle with them: for I will not give thee of the land of the children of Ammon any possession; because I have given it unto the children of Lot for a possession. 20(That also was accounted a land of giants: giants dwelt therein in old time; and the Ammonites call them Zamzummims;2.20 Zamzummims: also called, Zuzims 21A people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims; but the LORD destroyed them before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead: 22As he did to the children of Esau, which dwelt in Seir, when he destroyed the Horims from before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead even unto this day: 23And the Avims which dwelt in Hazerim, even unto Azzah, the Caphtorims, which came forth out of Caphtor, destroyed them, and dwelt in their stead.)
24¶ Rise ye up, take your journey, and pass over the river Arnon: behold, I have given into thine hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land: begin to possess it, and contend with him in battle.2.24 begin…: Heb. begin, possess 25This day will I begin to put the dread of thee and the fear of thee upon the nations that are under the whole heaven, who shall hear report of thee, and shall tremble, and be in anguish because of thee.
26¶ And I sent messengers out of the wilderness of Kedemoth unto Sihon king of Heshbon with words of peace, saying, 27Let me pass through thy land: I will go along by the high way, I will neither turn unto the right hand nor to the left. 28Thou shalt sell me meat for money, that I may eat; and give me water for money, that I may drink: only I will pass through on my feet; 29(As the children of Esau which dwell in Seir, and the Moabites which dwell in Ar, did unto me;) until I shall pass over Jordan into the land which the LORD our God giveth us. 30But Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him: for the LORD thy God hardened his spirit, and made his heart obstinate, that he might deliver him into thy hand, as appeareth this day. 31And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have begun to give Sihon and his land before thee: begin to possess, that thou mayest inherit his land. 32Then Sihon came out against us, he and all his people, to fight at Jahaz. 33And the LORD our God delivered him before us; and we smote him, and his sons, and all his people. 34And we took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed the men, and the women, and the little ones, of every city, we left none to remain:2.34 the men…: Heb. every city of men, and women, and little ones 35Only the cattle we took for a prey unto ourselves, and the spoil of the cities which we took. 36From Aroer, which is by the brink of the river of Arnon, and from the city that is by the river, even unto Gilead, there was not one city too strong for us: the LORD our God delivered all unto us: 37Only unto the land of the children of Ammon thou camest not, nor unto any place of the river Jabbok, nor unto the cities in the mountains, nor unto whatsoever the LORD our God forbad us.
