1El Señor les dijo a Moisés y a Aarón: 2«Haced un censo, por clanes y por familias patriarcales, de los levitas que descienden de Coat. 3Incluid en él a todos los varones de treinta a cincuenta años de edad que sean aptos para trabajar en la Tienda de reunión.
4»El ministerio de los coatitas en la Tienda de reunión consiste en cuidar de las cosas más sagradas. 5Cuando los israelitas deban ponerse en marcha, Aarón y sus hijos entrarán en el santuario y descolgarán la cortina que lo resguarda, y con ella cubrirán el arca del pacto. 6Después la cubrirán con piel de delfín y con un paño púrpura, y le colocarán las varas para transportarla.
7»Sobre la mesa de la presencia del Señor extenderán un paño púrpura y colocarán los platos, las bandejas, los tazones y las jarras para las libaciones. También estará allí el pan de la ofrenda permanente. 8Sobre todo esto extenderán un paño escarlata. Luego cubrirán la mesa con piel de delfín y le colocarán las varas para transportarla.
9»Con un paño púrpura cubrirán el candelabro y sus lámparas, despabiladeras, ceniceros y utensilios que sirven para suministrarle aceite. 10Después cubrirán el candelabro y todos sus accesorios con piel de delfín, y lo colocarán sobre las andas.
11»Extenderán un paño púrpura sobre el altar de oro, lo cubrirán con piel de delfín y le colocarán las varas para transportarlo.
12»Envolverán en un paño púrpura todos los utensilios con los que ministran en el santuario, los cubrirán con piel de delfín, y luego los colocarán sobre las andas.
13»Al altar del holocausto le quitarán las cenizas y lo cubrirán con un paño carmesí. 14Sobre el altar pondrán todos los utensilios que usan en su ministerio: ceniceros, tenedores, tenazas, tazones y todos los utensilios del altar. Luego lo cubrirán con piel de delfín y le colocarán las varas para transportarlo.
15»Cuando Aarón y sus hijos hayan terminado de cubrir el santuario y todos sus accesorios, los israelitas podrán ponerse en marcha. Entonces vendrán los coatitas para transportar el santuario, pero sin tocarlo, para que no mueran. También transportarán los objetos que están en la Tienda de reunión.
16»En cambio, Eleazar hijo de Aarón estará a cargo del aceite para el candelabro, del incienso aromático, de la ofrenda permanente de cereal y del aceite de la unción. Además, cuidará del santuario y de todos sus utensilios».
17El Señor les dijo a Moisés y a Aarón: 18«Aseguraos de que los clanes de Coat no vayan a ser eliminados de la tribu de Leví. 19Para que no mueran cuando se acerquen a las cosas más sagradas, deberéis hacer lo siguiente: Aarón y sus hijos asignarán a cada uno lo que deba hacer y transportar. 20Pero los coatitas no mirarán ni por un momento las cosas sagradas; de lo contrario, morirán».
Ministerio de los guersonitas
21El Señor les dijo a Moisés y a Aarón: 22«Haced también un censo de los guersonitas por clanes y por familias patriarcales. 23Incluid a todos los varones de treinta a cincuenta años que sean aptos para servir en la Tienda de reunión.
24»El ministerio de los clanes guersonitas consiste en encargarse del transporte. 25Llevarán las cortinas del santuario, la Tienda de reunión, su toldo, la cubierta de piel de delfín que va encima, y la cortina de la entrada a la Tienda de reunión. 26También transportarán el cortinaje del atrio y la cortina que está a la entrada del atrio que rodea el santuario y el altar, junto con las cuerdas y todos los utensilios necesarios para su servicio. Deberán ocuparse de todo lo relacionado con estos. 27Todo su trabajo, ya sea transportando los utensilios o sirviendo en la Tienda, deberán hacerlo bajo la dirección de Aarón y de sus hijos. De ellos será la responsabilidad de todo el transporte. 28El servicio de los clanes de Guersón en la Tienda de reunión será supervisado por Itamar, hijo del sacerdote Aarón.
Ministerio de los meraritas
29»Haz un censo de los meraritas por clanes y por familias patriarcales. 30Incluye a todos los varones de treinta a cincuenta años que sean aptos para servir en la Tienda de reunión. 31Su trabajo en la Tienda de reunión consistirá en transportar el armazón del santuario, es decir, sus travesaños, postes y bases, 32lo mismo que los postes que están alrededor del atrio, sus bases, estacas y cuerdas, como también todos los utensilios necesarios para su servicio. Asígnale a cada uno los objetos que deberá transportar. 33El servicio de los clanes de Merari en la Tienda de reunión será supervisado por Itamar, hijo del sacerdote Aarón».

34Moisés, Aarón y los líderes de la comunidad hicieron un censo de los coatitas por clanes y por familias patriarcales. 35El censo incluía a todos los varones de treinta a cincuenta años que eran aptos para servir en la Tienda de reunión. 36El total de los censados por clanes llegó a dos mil setecientos cincuenta hombres. 37Este fue el total de los censados entre los clanes de Coat para servir en la Tienda de reunión, según el recuento que hicieron Moisés y Aarón, conforme al mandato del Señor por medio de Moisés.
Censo del clan de Guersón
38Se hizo un censo de guersonitas por clanes y por familias patriarcales. 39El censo incluía a todos los varones de treinta a cincuenta años que eran aptos para servir en la Tienda de reunión. 40El total de los censados por familias patriarcales llegó a dos mil seiscientos treinta hombres. 41Este fue el total de los censados entre los clanes de Guersón para servir en la Tienda de reunión, según el recuento que hicieron Moisés y Aarón, conforme al mandato del Señor.
Censo del clan de Merari
42Se hizo un censo de los meraritas por clanes y por familias patriarcales. 43El censo incluía a todos los varones de treinta a cincuenta años que eran aptos para servir en la Tienda de reunión. 44El total de los censados por clanes llegó a tres mil doscientos hombres. 45Este fue el total de los censados entre los clanes de Merari, según el recuento que hicieron Moisés y Aarón, conforme al mandato del Señor por medio de Moisés.
Conclusión
46Moisés, Aarón y los líderes de Israel hicieron un censo de todos los levitas por clanes y por familias patriarcales. 47El total de los varones de treinta a cincuenta años, que eran aptos para servir en la Tienda de reunión y transportarla, 48llegó a ocho mil quinientos ochenta. 49Conforme al mandato del Señor por medio de Moisés, a cada uno se le asignó lo que tenía que hacer y transportar.
Así fueron censados, según el mandato que Moisés recibió del Señor.
1And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, 2Take the sum of the sons of Kohath from among the sons of Levi, after their families, by the house of their fathers, 3From thirty years old and upward even until fifty years old, all that enter into the host, to do the work in the tabernacle of the congregation. 4This shall be the service of the sons of Kohath in the tabernacle of the congregation, about the most holy things:
5¶ And when the camp setteth forward, Aaron shall come, and his sons, and they shall take down the covering vail, and cover the ark of testimony with it: 6And shall put thereon the covering of badgers’ skins, and shall spread over it a cloth wholly of blue, and shall put in the staves thereof. 7And upon the table of shewbread they shall spread a cloth of blue, and put thereon the dishes, and the spoons, and the bowls, and covers to cover withal: and the continual bread shall be thereon:4.7 cover…: or, pour out withal 8And they shall spread upon them a cloth of scarlet, and cover the same with a covering of badgers’ skins, and shall put in the staves thereof. 9And they shall take a cloth of blue, and cover the candlestick of the light, and his lamps, and his tongs, and his snuffdishes, and all the oil vessels thereof, wherewith they minister unto it: 10And they shall put it and all the vessels thereof within a covering of badgers’ skins, and shall put it upon a bar. 11And upon the golden altar they shall spread a cloth of blue, and cover it with a covering of badgers’ skins, and shall put to the staves thereof: 12And they shall take all the instruments of ministry, wherewith they minister in the sanctuary, and put them in a cloth of blue, and cover them with a covering of badgers’ skins, and shall put them on a bar: 13And they shall take away the ashes from the altar, and spread a purple cloth thereon: 14And they shall put upon it all the vessels thereof, wherewith they minister about it, even the censers, the fleshhooks, and the shovels, and the basons, all the vessels of the altar; and they shall spread upon it a covering of badgers’ skins, and put to the staves of it.4.14 basons: or, bowls 15And when Aaron and his sons have made an end of covering the sanctuary, and all the vessels of the sanctuary, as the camp is to set forward; after that, the sons of Kohath shall come to bear it: but they shall not touch any holy thing, lest they die. These things are the burden of the sons of Kohath in the tabernacle of the congregation.
16¶ And to the office of Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest pertaineth the oil for the light, and the sweet incense, and the daily meat offering, and the anointing oil, and the oversight of all the tabernacle, and of all that therein is, in the sanctuary, and in the vessels thereof.
17¶ And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, 18Cut ye not off the tribe of the families of the Kohathites from among the Levites: 19But thus do unto them, that they may live, and not die, when they approach unto the most holy things: Aaron and his sons shall go in, and appoint them every one to his service and to his burden: 20But they shall not go in to see when the holy things are covered, lest they die.
21¶ And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 22Take also the sum of the sons of Gershon, throughout the houses of their fathers, by their families; 23From thirty years old and upward until fifty years old shalt thou number them; all that enter in to perform the service, to do the work in the tabernacle of the congregation.4.23 to perform…: Heb. to war the warfare 24This is the service of the families of the Gershonites, to serve, and for burdens:4.24 burdens: or, carriage 25And they shall bear the curtains of the tabernacle, and the tabernacle of the congregation, his covering, and the covering of the badgers’ skins that is above upon it, and the hanging for the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, 26And the hangings of the court, and the hanging for the door of the gate of the court, which is by the tabernacle and by the altar round about, and their cords, and all the instruments of their service, and all that is made for them: so shall they serve. 27At the appointment of Aaron and his sons shall be all the service of the sons of the Gershonites, in all their burdens, and in all their service: and ye shall appoint unto them in charge all their burdens.4.27 appointment: Heb. mouth 28This is the service of the families of the sons of Gershon in the tabernacle of the congregation: and their charge shall be under the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest.
29¶ As for the sons of Merari, thou shalt number them after their families, by the house of their fathers; 30From thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old shalt thou number them, every one that entereth into the service, to do the work of the tabernacle of the congregation.4.30 service: Heb. warfare 31And this is the charge of their burden, according to all their service in the tabernacle of the congregation; the boards of the tabernacle, and the bars thereof, and the pillars thereof, and sockets thereof, 32And the pillars of the court round about, and their sockets, and their pins, and their cords, with all their instruments, and with all their service: and by name ye shall reckon the instruments of the charge of their burden. 33This is the service of the families of the sons of Merari, according to all their service, in the tabernacle of the congregation, under the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest.
34¶ And Moses and Aaron and the chief of the congregation numbered the sons of the Kohathites after their families, and after the house of their fathers, 35From thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old, every one that entereth into the service, for the work in the tabernacle of the congregation: 36And those that were numbered of them by their families were two thousand seven hundred and fifty. 37These were they that were numbered of the families of the Kohathites, all that might do service in the tabernacle of the congregation, which Moses and Aaron did number according to the commandment of the LORD by the hand of Moses. 38And those that were numbered of the sons of Gershon, throughout their families, and by the house of their fathers, 39From thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old, every one that entereth into the service, for the work in the tabernacle of the congregation, 40Even those that were numbered of them, throughout their families, by the house of their fathers, were two thousand and six hundred and thirty. 41These are they that were numbered of the families of the sons of Gershon, of all that might do service in the tabernacle of the congregation, whom Moses and Aaron did number according to the commandment of the LORD.
42¶ And those that were numbered of the families of the sons of Merari, throughout their families, by the house of their fathers, 43From thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old, every one that entereth into the service, for the work in the tabernacle of the congregation, 44Even those that were numbered of them after their families, were three thousand and two hundred. 45These be those that were numbered of the families of the sons of Merari, whom Moses and Aaron numbered according to the word of the LORD by the hand of Moses. 46All those that were numbered of the Levites, whom Moses and Aaron and the chief of Israel numbered, after their families, and after the house of their fathers, 47From thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old, every one that came to do the service of the ministry, and the service of the burden in the tabernacle of the congregation, 48Even those that were numbered of them, were eight thousand and five hundred and fourscore. 49According to the commandment of the LORD they were numbered by the hand of Moses, every one according to his service, and according to his burden: thus were they numbered of him, as the LORD commanded Moses.
