Mensaje para Moab
48:29-36 – Is 16:6-12
1Así dice el Señor Todopoderoso, el Dios de Israel, acerca de Moab:
«¡Ay de Nebo, porque será devastada!
¡Quiriatayin será capturada y puesta en vergüenza!
¡Su fortaleza48:1 Su fortaleza. Alt. Misgab. será humillada y destruida!
2La gloria de Moab ha desaparecido;
en Hesbón48:2 En hebreo, Hesbón suena como el verbo que significa maquinan. maquinan el mal contra ella:
“¡Venid, hagamos desaparecer a esta nación!”
También tú, Madmén,48:2 En hebreo, Madmén suena como el verbo que significa serás silenciada. serás silenciada,
y la espada te perseguirá.
3Se oye el clamor desde Joronayin:
¡devastación y gran destrucción!
4Moab será quebrantada;
ya se oyen los gritos de sus pequeños.
5Por la cuesta de Luhit
suben llorando sin cesar;
por la bajada de Joronayin
se oyen gritos de dolor,
por causa de la destrucción.
6¡Huid! ¡Sálvese quien pueda!
¡Sed como las zarzas48:6 las zarzas (véanse Aquila y Vulgata). Alt. Aroer. del desierto!
7Por cuanto confías en tus obras y en tus riquezas,
también tú serás capturada.
Quemós, tu dios, irá al exilio,
junto con sus sacerdotes y oficiales.
8El destructor vendrá contra toda ciudad,
y ni una sola de ellas escapará.
El valle quedará en ruinas,
y la meseta quedará destruida,
tal como ha dicho el Señor.
9Colocad una lápida48:9 lápida (LXX); en TM, palabra de difícil traducción. para Moab,
porque yace destruida;
sus ciudades están desoladas,
y sin habitante alguno.
10»¡Maldito el que sea negligente
para realizar el trabajo del Señor!
¡Maldito el que de la sangre
retraiga su espada!
11»Moab ha vivido en paz desde su juventud;
ha reposado sobre sus heces.
No ha pasado de vasija en vasija,
ni ha ido jamás al exilio.
Por eso conserva su sabor
y no pierde su aroma.
12Pero vienen días —afirma el Señor—
en que enviaré gente que transvasará a Moab;
y vaciará sus vasijas
y romperá sus cántaros.
13Entonces Moab se avergonzará de Quemós,
como el pueblo de Israel se avergonzó de Betel,
santuario en el que había depositado su confianza.
14»¿Cómo os atrevéis a decir:
“Somos guerreros,
hombres valientes para la guerra”?
15Moab será devastada
y sus ciudades, invadidas
—afirma el Rey,
cuyo nombre es el Señor Todopoderoso—:
Lo mejor de su juventud
descenderá al matadero.
16La ruina de Moab se acerca;
su calamidad es inminente.
17Llorad por él todos sus vecinos,
los que sabéis de su fama.
Decid: “¡Cómo se ha quebrado el cetro
tan poderoso e imponente!”
18»Tú, que habitas en Dibón:
desciende de tu lugar de honor
y siéntate en el sequedal,
porque el destructor de Moab te ataca
y destruye tus fortificaciones.
19Tú, que habitas en Aroer,
párate a la vera del camino, y observa;
pregunta a los que huyen, hombres y mujeres:
“¿Qué es lo que ha sucedido?”
20Moab está humillado;
ha sido destrozado.
¡Gemid y clamad!
¡Anunciad por el río Arnón
que Moab ha sido devastado!
21El juicio ha llegado hasta la meseta
contra Holón, Yahaza y Mefat;
22contra Dibón, Nebo y Bet Diblatayin;
23contra Quiriatayin, Bet Gamul y Bet Megón,
24contra Queriot y Bosra,
y contra todas las ciudades de Moab,
cercanas y lejanas.
25El poder48:25 poder. Lit. cuerno. de Moab ha desaparecido;
¡su fuerza está abatida!
—afirma el Señor—.
26»¡Emborrachad a Moab,
porque ha desafiado al Señor!
¡Que se regodee en su vómito,
y se convierta en objeto de burla!
27¿Acaso no te burlabas de Israel,
y con tus palabras lo despreciabas,
como si hubiera sido sorprendido entre ladrones?
28Habitantes de Moab,
¡abandonad las ciudades
y vivid entre las rocas!
Sed como las palomas
que anidan al borde de los precipicios.
29»Conocemos bien el orgullo de Moab,
ese orgullo exagerado.
¡Tanta soberbia y tanto orgullo!
¡Tanta arrogancia y altivez!
30Yo conozco su insolencia,
pero sus jactancias no logran nada
—afirma el Señor—.
31Por eso lloro por Moab;
gimo por toda su gente,
sollozo por el pueblo de Quir Jeres.
32Lloro por ti, viña de Sibma,
más que por Jazer;
tus sarmientos sobrepasan el mar
y llegan hasta Jazer,
pero caerá el destructor
sobre tu cosecha y sobre tu vendimia.
33De los fértiles campos de Moab
han desaparecido el gozo y la alegría.
Acabé con el vino de tus lagares;
ya nadie pisa las uvas entre gritos de alborozo;
los gritos ya no son de regocijo.
34»El clamor de Hesbón llega hasta Elalé y Yahaza,
su voz se alza desde Zoar
hasta Joronayin y Eglat Selisiyá.
Porque hasta las aguas de Nimrín
se han secado.
35Acabaré con la gente de Moab
que ofrece sacrificios en altares paganos
y quema incienso a sus dioses
—afirma el Señor—.
36»Por eso, con sonido de flautas
gime por Moab mi corazón;
con sonido de flautas
gime mi corazón por Quir Jeres,
porque han desaparecido
las riquezas que acumularon.
37Toda cabeza está rapada
y toda barba rasurada;
en todas las manos hay incisiones,
y todos están vestidos de luto.
38Sobre todos los techos de Moab,
y por todas sus plazas,
solo se escuchan lamentos;
porque rompí en pedazos a Moab
como a una vasija desechada
—afirma el Señor—.
39¡Cómo quedó hecha pedazos!
¡Cómo gimen!
Moab ha vuelto la espalda
del todo avergonzada.
Es para todos sus vecinos
objeto de burla y de terror».
40Así dice el Señor:
«¡Mirad! Vuela el enemigo como águila;
sobre Moab despliega sus alas.
41Sus ciudades serán capturadas,
y conquistadas sus fortalezas.
En aquel día, el corazón de los guerreros de Moab
será como el de una parturienta.
42Moab será destruida como nación,
porque ha desafiado al Señor.
43El terror, la fosa y la trampa
aguardan al habitante de Moab
—afirma el Señor—.
44El que huya del terror caerá en la fosa;
el que salga de la fosa caerá en la trampa;
porque yo hago venir sobre Moab
el tiempo de su castigo
—afirma el Señor—.
45»A la sombra de Hesbón
se detienen exhaustos los fugitivos.
De Hesbón sale un fuego;
de la ciudad de Sijón, una llama
que consume las sienes de Moab
y el cráneo de los arrogantes y revoltosos.
46¡Ay de ti, Moab!
El pueblo de Quemós está destruido;
tus hijos son llevados al exilio;
tus hijas, al cautiverio.
47Pero en los días venideros
yo cambiaré la suerte de Moab»,
afirma el Señor.
Aquí concluye el juicio contra Moab.

7¶ For because thou hast trusted in thy works and in thy treasures, thou shalt also be taken: and Chemosh shall go forth into captivity with his priests and his princes together. 8And the spoiler shall come upon every city, and no city shall escape: the valley also shall perish, and the plain shall be destroyed, as the LORD hath spoken. 9Give wings unto Moab, that it may flee and get away: for the cities thereof shall be desolate, without any to dwell therein. 10Cursed be he that doeth the work of the LORD deceitfully, and cursed be he that keepeth back his sword from blood.48.10 deceitfully: or, negligently
11¶ Moab hath been at ease from his youth, and he hath settled on his lees, and hath not been emptied from vessel to vessel, neither hath he gone into captivity: therefore his taste remained in him, and his scent is not changed.48.11 remained: Heb. stood 12Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will send unto him wanderers, that shall cause him to wander, and shall empty his vessels, and break their bottles. 13And Moab shall be ashamed of Chemosh, as the house of Israel was ashamed of Beth-el their confidence.
14¶ How say ye, We are mighty and strong men for the war? 15Moab is spoiled, and gone up out of her cities, and his chosen young men are gone down to the slaughter, saith the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts.48.15 his…: Heb. the choice of 16The calamity of Moab is near to come, and his affliction hasteth fast. 17All ye that are about him, bemoan him; and all ye that know his name, say, How is the strong staff broken, and the beautiful rod! 18Thou daughter that dost inhabit Dibon, come down from thy glory, and sit in thirst; for the spoiler of Moab shall come upon thee, and he shall destroy thy strong holds. 19O inhabitant of Aroer, stand by the way, and espy; ask him that fleeth, and her that escapeth, and say, What is done?48.19 inhabitant: Heb. inhabitress 20Moab is confounded; for it is broken down: howl and cry; tell ye it in Arnon, that Moab is spoiled, 21And judgment is come upon the plain country; upon Holon, and upon Jahazah, and upon Mephaath, 22And upon Dibon, and upon Nebo, and upon Beth-diblathaim, 23And upon Kiriathaim, and upon Beth-gamul, and upon Beth-meon, 24And upon Kerioth, and upon Bozrah, and upon all the cities of the land of Moab, far or near. 25The horn of Moab is cut off, and his arm is broken, saith the LORD.
26¶ Make ye him drunken: for he magnified himself against the LORD: Moab also shall wallow in his vomit, and he also shall be in derision. 27For was not Israel a derision unto thee? was he found among thieves? for since thou spakest of him, thou skippedst for joy.48.27 skippedst…: or, movedst thyself 28O ye that dwell in Moab, leave the cities, and dwell in the rock, and be like the dove that maketh her nest in the sides of the hole’s mouth. 29We have heard the pride of Moab, (he is exceeding proud) his loftiness, and his arrogancy, and his pride, and the haughtiness of his heart. 30I know his wrath, saith the LORD; but it shall not be so; his lies shall not so effect it.48.30 his lies…: or, those on whom he stayeth (Heb. his bars) do not right 31Therefore will I howl for Moab, and I will cry out for all Moab; mine heart shall mourn for the men of Kir-heres. 32O vine of Sibmah, I will weep for thee with the weeping of Jazer: thy plants are gone over the sea, they reach even to the sea of Jazer: the spoiler is fallen upon thy summer fruits and upon thy vintage. 33And joy and gladness is taken from the plentiful field, and from the land of Moab; and I have caused wine to fail from the winepresses: none shall tread with shouting; their shouting shall be no shouting. 34From the cry of Heshbon even unto Elealeh, and even unto Jahaz, have they uttered their voice, from Zoar even unto Horonaim, as an heifer of three years old: for the waters also of Nimrim shall be desolate.48.34 desolate: Heb. desolations 35Moreover I will cause to cease in Moab, saith the LORD, him that offereth in the high places, and him that burneth incense to his gods. 36Therefore mine heart shall sound for Moab like pipes, and mine heart shall sound like pipes for the men of Kir-heres: because the riches that he hath gotten are perished. 37For every head shall be bald, and every beard clipped: upon all the hands shall be cuttings, and upon the loins sackcloth.48.37 clipped: Heb. diminished 38There shall be lamentation generally upon all the housetops of Moab, and in the streets thereof: for I have broken Moab like a vessel wherein is no pleasure, saith the LORD. 39They shall howl, saying, How is it broken down! how hath Moab turned the back with shame! so shall Moab be a derision and a dismaying to all them about him.48.39 back: Heb. neck 40For thus saith the LORD; Behold, he shall fly as an eagle, and shall spread his wings over Moab. 41Kerioth is taken, and the strong holds are surprised, and the mighty men’s hearts in Moab at that day shall be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.48.41 Kerioth: or, The cities 42And Moab shall be destroyed from being a people, because he hath magnified himself against the LORD. 43Fear, and the pit, and the snare, shall be upon thee, O inhabitant of Moab, saith the LORD. 44He that fleeth from the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that getteth up out of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for I will bring upon it, even upon Moab, the year of their visitation, saith the LORD. 45They that fled stood under the shadow of Heshbon because of the force: but a fire shall come forth out of Heshbon, and a flame from the midst of Sihon, and shall devour the corner of Moab, and the crown of the head of the tumultuous ones.48.45 tumultuous…: Heb. children of noise 46Woe be unto thee, O Moab! the people of Chemosh perisheth: for thy sons are taken captives, and thy daughters captives.48.46 captives, and: Heb. in captivity, etc
47¶ Yet will I bring again the captivity of Moab in the latter days, saith the LORD. Thus far is the judgment of Moab.
