上帝考验亚伯拉罕
1这些事以后，上帝要考验亚伯拉罕，就呼唤他：“亚伯拉罕！”他回答说：“我在这里。” 2上帝说：“带着你的儿子，你的独生子，你疼爱的以撒前往摩利亚，在我指示你的山上把他献为燔祭。” 3亚伯拉罕清早起来，准备好驴，劈好献燔祭用的柴，带着两个仆人和儿子以撒动身前往上帝指示他的地方。 4到了第三天，亚伯拉罕远远看见那地方， 5就对仆人说：“你们和驴在这里等着，我和孩子到那边敬拜上帝，然后便回来。”
6于是，亚伯拉罕把献燔祭用的柴放在儿子以撒肩上，自己手里拿着火种和刀。父子二人一同向前走。 7以撒说：“父亲。”亚伯拉罕说：“孩子，什么事？”以撒说：“你看，火种和柴都有了，但献燔祭用的羊羔在哪里呢？” 8亚伯拉罕说：“孩子，上帝自己会预备献燔祭的羊羔。”二人就继续向前走。
9他们到了上帝指示的地方，亚伯拉罕就筑起祭坛，把柴摆在上面，然后把以撒捆起来放在柴上。 10亚伯拉罕伸手拿起刀来，要杀他的儿子。 11耶和华的天使从天上呼唤他说：“亚伯拉罕！亚伯拉罕！”他回答说：“我在这里。” 12天使说：“不要动孩子，不可伤害他！现在我知道你敬畏上帝，因为你不惜献上你的儿子——你的独生子。” 13这时亚伯拉罕抬起头来，突然看见有一只公绵羊两角卡在稠密的树丛中，于是把羊取来代替他的儿子献为燔祭。 14亚伯拉罕称那地方为“耶和华以勒”22:14 “耶和华以勒”或译“耶和华必预备”。。直到今天人们还说：“在耶和华的山上必有预备。”
15耶和华的天使再次从天上呼唤亚伯拉罕， 16对他说：“耶和华说，‘你既然愿意把你的儿子，你的独生子献给我，我凭自己向你起誓， 17我必赐福给你，使你的后裔多如天上的星和海边的沙。你的后裔必占领仇敌的城池， 18天下万国必因你的后裔而蒙福，因为你听从了我的话。’” 19于是，亚伯拉罕回到仆人等候的地方，他们一同返回亚伯拉罕居住的别示巴。
拿鹤的后代
20后来，有人告诉亚伯拉罕：“密迦为你的兄弟拿鹤生了几个儿子， 21长子乌斯、乌斯的弟弟布斯、亚兰的父亲基姆利、 22基薛、哈琐、必达、益拉和利百加的父亲彼土利。” 23密迦为亚伯拉罕的兄弟拿鹤生了八个儿子。 24拿鹤的妾流玛生了提八、迦含、他辖和玛迦。
Abraham Tested
1Some time later God tested Abraham. He said to him, “Abraham!”
“Here I am,” he replied.
2Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love—Isaac—and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you.”
3Early the next morning Abraham got up and loaded his donkey. He took with him two of his servants and his son Isaac. When he had cut enough wood for the burnt offering, he set out for the place God had told him about. 4On the third day Abraham looked up and saw the place in the distance. 5He said to his servants, “Stay here with the donkey while I and the boy go over there. We will worship and then we will come back to you.”
6Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and placed it on his son Isaac, and he himself carried the fire and the knife. As the two of them went on together, 7Isaac spoke up and said to his father Abraham, “Father?”
“Yes, my son?” Abraham replied.
“The fire and wood are here,” Isaac said, “but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?”
8Abraham answered, “God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.” And the two of them went on together.
9When they reached the place God had told him about, Abraham built an altar there and arranged the wood on it. He bound his son Isaac and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood. 10Then he reached out his hand and took the knife to slay his son. 11But the angel of the Lord called out to him from heaven, “Abraham! Abraham!”
“Here I am,” he replied.
12“Do not lay a hand on the boy,” he said. “Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son.”
13Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram22:13 Many manuscripts of the Masoretic Text, Samaritan Pentateuch, Septuagint and Syriac; most manuscripts of the Masoretic Text a ram behind him caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son. 14So Abraham called that place The Lord Will Provide. And to this day it is said, “On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided.”
15The angel of the Lord called to Abraham from heaven a second time 16and said, “I swear by myself, declares the Lord, that because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, 17I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the cities of their enemies, 18and through your offspring22:18 Or seed all nations on earth will be blessed,22:18 Or and all nations on earth will use the name of your offspring in blessings (see 48:20) because you have obeyed me.”
19Then Abraham returned to his servants, and they set off together for Beersheba. And Abraham stayed in Beersheba.
Nahor’s Sons
20Some time later Abraham was told, “Milkah is also a mother; she has borne sons to your brother Nahor: 21Uz the firstborn, Buz his brother, Kemuel (the father of Aram), 22Kesed, Hazo, Pildash, Jidlaph and Bethuel.” 23Bethuel became the father of Rebekah. Milkah bore these eight sons to Abraham’s brother Nahor. 24His concubine, whose name was Reumah, also had sons: Tebah, Gaham, Tahash and Maakah.
