Сановники и наместники Сулаймона
1Царь Сулаймон правил всем Исроилом. 2Вот его главные сановники:
Азария, сын Цадока, – священнослужитель;
3Элихореф и Ахия, сыновья Шиши, – писари;
Иосафат, сын Ахилуда, – летописец;
4Беная, сын Иодая, – начальник войска;
Цадок и Авиатар – священнослужители;
5Азария, сын Нафана, – начальник над наместниками;
Завуд, сын Нафана, – священнослужитель и личный советник царя;
6Ахишар – смотритель дворца;
Адонирам, сын Авды, – надсмотрщик за подневольными рабочими.
7Ещё у Сулаймона было двенадцать наместников над всем Исроилом, которые поставляли для царя и для царского дома продовольствие. Каждый из них должен был поставлять припасы на один месяц в году. 8Вот их имена:
Бен-Хур управлял в нагорьях Ефраима;
9Бен-Декер – в Макаце, Шаалбиме, Бет-Шемеше и Елон-Бет-Ханане;
10Бен-Хесед – в Арубботе (ему принадлежали Сохо и вся земля Хефер);
11Бен-Авинадав – на возвышенностях Дора4:11 Или: «в Нафот-Доре». (его женой была Тафат, дочь Сулаймона);
12Баана, сын Ахилуда, – в Таанахе, и в Мегиддо, и во всей территории вокруг Бет-Шеана, что рядом с Цартаном, ниже Изрееля, и от Бет-Шеана до Авель-Мехолы, и даже за Иокмеамом;
13Бен-Гевер – в Рамоте Галаадском (ему принадлежали селения Иаира, сына Манассы, в Галааде, а также область Аргова в Бошоне, включая шестьдесят больших, обнесённых стенами городов с бронзовыми засовами на воротах);
14Ахинадав, сын Иддо, – в Маханаиме;
15Ахимаац – в земле рода Неффалима (он женился на Басемафе, дочери Сулаймона);
16Баана, сын Хушая, – в земле рода Ошера и в Алоте;
17Иосафат, сын Паруаха, – в земле рода Иссокора;
18Шимей, сын Елы, – в земле рода Вениамина;
19Гевер, сын Ури, – в Галааде (в стране Сигона, царя аморреев, и Ога, царя Бошона). Он один был наместником над этими землями.
Величие царства Сулаймона
20Народ Иудеи и Исроила был многочислен, как песок на морском берегу; они ели, пили и веселились. 21И Сулаймон правил всеми царствами от реки Евфрат до земли филистимлян и до самой границы Египта. Эти страны платили дань и служили Сулаймону во все дни его жизни.
22Каждый день ко двору Сулаймона поставлялось более четырёх тонн лучшей муки и более восьми тонн4:22 Букв.: «тридцать… шестьдесят ко́ров». муки крупного помола, 23десять голов крупного скота, откормленного в стойле, двадцать голов крупного скота с пастбища и сто голов мелкого, не считая оленей, серн, косулей и откормленной птицы.
24Ведь он правил всеми царствами к западу от реки Евфрат, от Тифсаха до Газы, и пребывал в мире со всеми окрестными странами. 25Во времена жизни Сулаймона Иудея и Исроил жили в безопасности от Дона на севере до Беэр-Шевы на юге – каждый человек под своей виноградной лозой и инжиром.

27Наместники, каждый в свой месяц, поставляли продовольствие для царя Сулаймона и для всех, кто приходил есть за царским столом. Они смотрели, чтобы ни в чём не было недостатка. 28Ещё они доставляли в нужное место ячмень и сено для колесничных и прочих коней, каждый свою долю.
Мудрость Сулаймона
29Всевышний даровал Сулаймону мудрость, великую проницательность и глубокий ум, неизмеримый, как песок на морском берегу. 30Мудрость Сулаймона превосходила мудрость всех людей Востока и всю мудрость Египта. 31Он был мудрее любого человека, считая и Етана Эзрахитянина, и Емана, и Халкола, и Дарды, сыновей Махола. Его слава прошла по всем окрестным народам. 32Он произнёс три тысячи мудрых изречений, а песен его было тысяча и пять. 33Он исследовал жизнь растений – от ливанского кедра до иссопа, что растёт из стен. Он изучал животных и птиц, пресмыкающихся и рыб. 34Мудрость Сулаймона приходили послушать люди из всех народов, от всех царей мира, которые прослышали о ней.

20¶ Judah and Israel were many, as the sand which is by the sea in multitude, eating and drinking, and making merry. 21And Solomon reigned over all kingdoms from the river unto the land of the Philistines, and unto the border of Egypt: they brought presents, and served Solomon all the days of his life.
22¶ And Solomon’s provision for one day was thirty measures of fine flour, and threescore measures of meal,4.22 provision: Heb. bread4.22 measures: Heb. cors 23Ten fat oxen, and twenty oxen out of the pastures, and an hundred sheep, beside harts, and roebucks, and fallowdeer, and fatted fowl. 24For he had dominion over all the region on this side the river, from Tiphsah even to Azzah, over all the kings on this side the river: and he had peace on all sides round about him. 25And Judah and Israel dwelt safely, every man under his vine and under his fig tree, from Dan even to Beer-sheba, all the days of Solomon.4.25 safely: Heb. confidently
26¶ And Solomon had forty thousand stalls of horses for his chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen. 27And those officers provided victual for king Solomon, and for all that came unto king Solomon’s table, every man in his month: they lacked nothing. 28Barley also and straw for the horses and dromedaries brought they unto the place where the officers were, every man according to his charge.4.28 dromedaries: or, mules, or, swift beasts
29¶ And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore. 30And Solomon’s wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children of the east country, and all the wisdom of Egypt. 31For he was wiser than all men; than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, and Chalcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol: and his fame was in all nations round about. 32And he spake three thousand proverbs: and his songs were a thousand and five. 33And he spake of trees, from the cedar tree that is in Lebanon even unto the hyssop that springeth out of the wall: he spake also of beasts, and of fowl, and of creeping things, and of fishes. 34And there came of all people to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all kings of the earth, which had heard of his wisdom.
