1Вот слова, которые Мусо сказал всему Исроилу в пустыне, что к востоку от Иордана – то есть в Иорданской долине – напротив Суфа, между пустыней Паран и лагерями Тофел, Лаван, Хацерот и Дизахав. 2(Обычно уходит только одиннадцать дней на дорогу от горы Синай1:2 Букв.: «от Хорива». 3В сороковой год после выхода из Египта, в первый день одиннадцатого месяца (в середине зимы), Мусо объявил исроильтянам всё, что повелел ему о них Вечный1:3 Вечный – на языке оригинала: «Яхве». Под этим именем Всевышний открылся Мусо и народу Исроила (см. Исх. 3:13-15). См. пояснительный словарь.. 4Это было после того, как он разбил Сигона, царя аморреев, который правил в Хешбоне, а в Эдреи разбил Ога, царя Бошона, который правил в Аштароте1:4 Букв.: «и Ога, царя Бошона, который правил в Аштароте в Эдреи»..
5К востоку от Иордана на земле Моава Мусо начал разъяснять этот Закон, говоря:
6Вечный, наш Бог, говорил нам на горе Синай: «Довольно вам жить у этой горы. 7Сверните лагерь и идите в аморрейские нагорья и ко всем соседним народам, живущим в Иорданской долине, в горах, в западных предгорьях, в Негеве и вдоль побережья; идите в землю ханонеев и на Ливан, даже до великой реки Евфрат. 8Смотрите, Я дал вам эту землю. Войдите и завладейте землёй, которую Я клялся отдать вашим предкам Иброхиму, Исхоку и Якубу – и их потомкам».
Назначение судей
(Исх. 18:13-27)
9В то время я сказал вам: «Вы – слишком тяжёлое бремя, чтобы мне одному его нести. 10Вечный, ваш Бог, умножил вас, и сегодня вас так же много, как звёзд на небе. 11Пусть Вечный, Бог ваших предков, умножит ваше число в тысячу раз и благословит вас, как и обещал! 12Но как я могу нести тяжёлое бремя ваших споров один? 13Изберите мудрых, понимающих и уважаемых людей от каждого вашего рода, а я поставлю их над вами».
14Вы отвечали мне: «То, что ты предлагаешь, – хорошо».
15Я выбрал из ваших родов мудрых и уважаемых людей и поставил их вождями над вами: начальниками над тысячами, сотнями, полусотнями и десятками и старейшинами в родах. 16Я повелел вашим судьям: выслушивайте споры между вашими братьями и судите справедливо, будет ли тяжба между исроильтянами или между исроильтянином и чужеземцем. 17Когда будете судить, не будьте пристрастны. Выслушивайте влиятельных людей и простолюдинов. Никого не бойтесь, потому что суд принадлежит Всевышнему. Приходите ко мне, если дело слишком трудно для вас, и я выслушаю его. 18В то время я сказал вам всё, что вы должны были делать.
Посланные лазутчики
(Чис. 13:1-33)
19Затем мы тронулись в путь от горы Синай, как повелел нам Вечный, и пошли к аморрейским нагорьям через всю огромную и ужасную пустыню, которую вы видели, и достигли Кадеш-Барни. 20Тогда я сказал вам: «Вы достигли аморрейских нагорий, которые Вечный, наш Бог, отдаёт нам. 21Смотрите, Вечный, ваш Бог, отдал вам землю. Поднимитесь и завладейте ею, как сказал вам Вечный, Бог ваших предков. Не бойтесь, не будьте малодушными».
22Тогда вы все пришли ко мне и сказали: «Пошлём вперёд людей, пусть они разведают эту землю и расскажут о дороге, по которой нам идти, и о городах, куда мы вступим».
23Мне понравилось это предложение, и я выбрал из вас двенадцать человек, по одному из каждого рода. 24Они поднялись в нагорья, пришли в долину Эшкол и исследовали её. 25Взяв с собой плоды той земли, они принесли их нам и доложили: «Хорошую землю даёт нам Вечный, наш Бог».
Восстание против Вечного
(Чис. 14:1-45)
26Но вы не захотели пойти; вы взбунтовались против повеления Вечного, вашего Бога. 27Вы роптали у себя в шатрах и говорили: «Вечный ненавидит нас, поэтому Он вывел нас из Египта, чтобы отдать в руки аморреев и погубить. 28Куда нам идти? Наши братья лишили нас смелости. Они говорят: „Тот народ сильнее нас и выше ростом. Города там большие, со стенами до небес. Мы даже видели там анакитов (народ гигантов)“».
29Тогда я сказал вам: «Не страшитесь, не бойтесь их. 30Вечный, ваш Бог, идёт впереди, чтобы сражаться за вас, как Он делал в Египте у вас на глазах 31и в пустыне, где вы видели, как Вечный, ваш Бог, носил вас, словно отец сына, на всём вашем пути вплоть до этого места».
32Но вы не доверились Вечному, вашему Богу, 33Который шёл перед вами во время путешествия ночью в огне, а днём в облаке, чтобы найти вам места для остановки и показать путь, которым вы должны идти.
34Когда Вечный услышал ваши речи, Он разгневался и поклялся: 35«Ни один человек из этого злого поколения не увидит благодатной земли, которую Я клялся отдать вашим предкам, 36кроме Халева, сына Иефоннии. Он увидит её, и Я дам ему и его потомкам землю, через которую он проходил, потому что он от всего сердца исполнял всё, что Я повелел».
37Из-за вас Вечный разгневался и на меня и сказал: «Ты тоже не войдёшь туда. 38Но твой помощник Иешуа, сын Нуна, войдёт в эту землю. Ободряй его, потому что он поведёт Исроил, чтобы унаследовать её. 39А дети, о которых вы говорили, что они попадут в плен, ваши дети, которые ещё не отличают хорошее от плохого, войдут в эту землю. Я отдам её им, и они завладеют ею. 40А вы повернитесь и отправляйтесь в пустыню в сторону Тростникового моря»1:40 Тростниковое море – буквальный перевод с языка оригинала. Среди современных специалистов существуют различные мнения, о каком водоёме здесь идёт речь. Тростниковым морем могли называть как цепи озёр, расположенных на Суэцком перешейке и, вероятно, соединявшихся тогда проливами с Красным морем, так и Суэцкий и Акабский заливы Красного моря (см. напр., 3 Цар. 9:26). 41Тогда вы отвечали: «Мы согрешили против Вечного. Мы поднимемся и сразимся, как повелел нам Вечный, наш Бог». Вы взяли оружие, думая, что подняться в нагорья легко.
42Но Вечный сказал мне: «Скажи им: „Не ходите и не сражайтесь, потому что Меня не будет с вами. Ваши враги разобьют вас“».
43Я сказал вам, но вы не послушали. Вы взбунтовались против повеления Вечного и в своей гордыне поднялись в нагорья. 44Аморреи, жившие в тех нагорьях, выступили против вас. Они преследовали вас, как пчелиный рой, и били вас от Сеира до самого города Хормы. 45Вы вернулись и плакали перед Вечным, но Он не внял вашему плачу и отказался услышать вас. 46И много дней вы оставались в Кадеше, всё то время, которое вы там провели.

9¶ And I spake unto you at that time, saying, I am not able to bear you myself alone: 10The LORD your God hath multiplied you, and, behold, ye are this day as the stars of heaven for multitude. 11(The LORD God of your fathers make you a thousand times so many more as ye are, and bless you, as he hath promised you!) 12How can I myself alone bear your cumbrance, and your burden, and your strife? 13Take you wise men, and understanding, and known among your tribes, and I will make them rulers over you.1.13 Take: Heb. 19¶ And when we departed from Horeb, we went through all that great and terrible wilderness, which ye saw by the way of the mountain of the Amorites, as the LORD our God commanded us; and we came to Kadesh-barnea. 20And I said unto you, Ye are come unto the mountain of the Amorites, which the LORD our God doth give unto us. 21Behold, the LORD thy God hath set the land before thee: go up and possess it, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath said unto thee; fear not, neither be discouraged.
22¶ And ye came near unto me every one of you, and said, We will send men before us, and they shall search us out the land, and bring us word again by what way we must go up, and into what cities we shall come. 23And the saying pleased me well: and I took twelve men of you, one of a tribe: 24And they turned and went up into the mountain, and came unto the valley of Eshcol, and searched it out. 25And they took of the fruit of the land in their hands, and brought it down unto us, and brought us word again, and said, It is a good land which the LORD our God doth give us. 26Notwithstanding ye would not go up, but rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God: 27And ye murmured in your tents, and said, Because the LORD hated us, he hath brought us forth out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us. 28Whither shall we go up? our brethren have discouraged our heart, saying, The people is greater and taller than we; the cities are great and walled up to heaven; and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakims there.1.28 discouraged: Heb. melted 29Then I said unto you, Dread not, neither be afraid of them. 30The LORD your God which goeth before you, he shall fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes; 31And in the wilderness, where thou hast seen how that the LORD thy God bare thee, as a man doth bear his son, in all the way that ye went, until ye came into this place. 32Yet in this thing ye did not believe the LORD your God, 33Who went in the way before you, to search you out a place to pitch your tents in, in fire by night, to shew you by what way ye should go, and in a cloud by day. 34And the LORD heard the voice of your words, and was wroth, and sware, saying, 35Surely there shall not one of these men of this evil generation see that good land, which I sware to give unto your fathers, 36Save Caleb the son of Jephunneh; he shall see it, and to him will I give the land that he hath trodden upon, and to his children, because he hath wholly followed the LORD.1.36 wholly…: Heb. fulfilled to go after 37Also the LORD was angry with me for your sakes, saying, Thou also shalt not go in thither. 38But Joshua the son of Nun, which standeth before thee, he shall go in thither: encourage him: for he shall cause Israel to inherit it. 39Moreover your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, and your children, which in that day had no knowledge between good and evil, they shall go in thither, and unto them will I give it, and they shall possess it. 40But as for you, turn you, and take your journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea. 41Then ye answered and said unto me, We have sinned against the LORD, we will go up and fight, according to all that the LORD our God commanded us. And when ye had girded on every man his weapons of war, ye were ready to go up into the hill. 42And the LORD said unto me, Say unto them, Go not up, neither fight; for I am not among you; lest ye be smitten before your enemies. 43So I spake unto you; and ye would not hear, but rebelled against the commandment of the LORD, and went presumptuously up into the hill.1.43 went…: Heb. ye were presumptuous, and went up 44And the Amorites, which dwelt in that mountain, came out against you, and chased you, as bees do, and destroyed you in Seir, even unto Hormah. 45And ye returned and wept before the LORD; but the LORD would not hearken to your voice, nor give ear unto you. 46So ye abode in Kadesh many days, according unto the days that ye abode there.
