а со срамом приходит бесславие.
4Слова человеческих уст – глубокие воды;
источник мудрости – текущий поток.
5Нехорошо быть пристрастным к злодею
и лишать правосудия невиновного.
6Язык глупца ведёт его к ссоре,
его уста навлекают побои.
7Уста глупца – его гибель,
его язык – для него же западня.
8Слова сплетен – как лакомые куски,
что проходят вовнутрь чрева.
9Ленивый в своей работе –
брат разрушителя.

убежит в неё праведник и будет спасён.
11Состояние богатого – надёжная крепость;
высокой стеной представляется ему оно.

а смирение предшествует славе.
13Отвечать, не выслушав,
это глупость и стыд.
14Дух человека подкрепляет его в болезни,
но если дух сокрушён – кто в силах снести его?
15Разум рассудительного приобретает знание,
и уши мудрых ищут его.
16Подарок открывает человеку путь
и приводит его к вельможам.
17Кто первым изложит дело, тот выглядит правым,
пока другой не придёт и не расспросит его.
18Жребий решает споры
и разнимает сильных соперников.
19Обиженный брат неприступнее крепости;
ссоры разделяют подобно засовам ворот.
20Красноречием человек может наполнять свой желудок,
словами своими – зарабатывать себе на жизнь.
21У языка – сила жизни и смерти,
те, кто любит говорить, будут вкушать плоды своих речей.
22Нашедший жену нашёл благо
и приобрёл расположение Вечного.
23Бедняк о милости молит,
а богач отвечает грубо.
24Есть друзья, с которыми лучше не знаться,
но иной друг ближе брата.
