а ненавидящий нарекание – невежда.
2К доброму Вечный будет благосклонен,
а коварного Он осудит.
3Человеку не утвердить себя злом,
а корень праведных не поколеблется.
4Хорошая жена – мужу венец,
а срамящая мужа – что гниль в кости.
5Помышления праведных честны,
а советы нечестивых коварны.
6Слова нечестивых – гибельная засада,
но речь праведных спасает их.
7Нечестивца низвергнут, и нет его,
а дом праведных устоит.
8Человека хвалят по мудрости,
а извращённый ум презирают.
9Лучше быть в унижении, но иметь возможность нанять слугу12:9 Или: «но работать на себя».,
чем притворяться знатным, не имея и куска лепёшки.
10Праведник и скотину свою жалеет,
а у нечестивых и жалость жестока.
11Возделывающий свою землю будет есть досыта,
а гоняющийся за пустыми мечтами – не разумен.
12Неправедный жаждет поживы других злодеев,
но корень праведных пустит свой росток.
13Нечестивого ловят его же греховные слова,
но праведник избежит беды.
14Человек пожинает хороший плод сказанных им речей,
и кто трудится руками, тоже получит воздаяние.
15Глупец считает, что путь его прям,
но мудрый прислушивается к советам.
16Глупец обнаружит свой гнев немедля,
но разумный оставит оскорбление без внимания.
17Честный свидетель расскажет правду,
а криводушный солжёт.
18Слова опрометчивых ранят, как меч,
а речь мудрых – исцеляет.
19Правдивые уста пребудут вовеки,
а лживый язык – только мгновение.
20В сердцах злоумышленников обман,
а радость – у миротворцев.
21Не случится с праведником беды,
а жизнь нечестивых полна невзгод.
22Вечный гнушается лживыми устами,
но верные слову Ему угодны.
23Умный человек не спешит показать своё знание,
а сердце глупца разглашает глупость.
24Усердные будут править,
а ленивых приставят к труду подневольному.
25Тревога в сердце гнетёт человека,
а доброе слово веселит.
26Праведный разборчив в своей дружбе12:26 Или: «Праведный направит ближнего»; или: «Праведный избежит зла».,
а путь нечестивых сбивает с толка.
27Ленивому никогда не жарить дичи,
а усердный приобретёт ценное добро.
28На пути праведности – жизнь;
ходя её тропами, смерти не встретишь.

But the advice of sinners will lead you the wrong way.
6The words of those who are evil hide and wait to spill people’s blood.
But the speech of those who are honest saves them from traps like that.
7Sinners are destroyed and taken away.
But the houses of godly people stand firm.
8A person is praised for how wise they are.
But people hate anyone who has a twisted mind.
9Being nobody and having a servant
is better than pretending to be somebody and having no food.
10Those who do what is right take good care of their animals.
But the kindest acts of those who do wrong are mean.
11Those who farm their land will have plenty of food.
But those who chase dreams have no sense.
12Those who do what is wrong are safe for just a while.
But those who do what is right last forever.
13Those who do evil are trapped by their sinful talk.
But those who have done no wrong escape trouble.
14Many good things come from what people say.
And the work of their hands rewards them.
15The way of foolish people seems right to them.
But those who are wise listen to advice.

But a dishonest witness tells lies.

But there is joy for those who work to bring peace.
21No harm comes to godly people.

22The Lord hates those whose lips tell lies.
But he is pleased with people who tell the truth.
23Wise people keep their knowledge to themselves.
But the hearts of foolish people shout foolish things.
24Hands that work hard will rule.
But people who are lazy will be forced to work.
25Worry makes the heart heavy.
But a kind word cheers it up.
26Godly people are careful about the friends they choose.
But the way of sinners leads them down the wrong path.
27Lazy people do not even cook what they catch.
But those who work hard eat their fill of what is hunted.
28There is life in doing what is right.
Along that path you will never die.
