1Мудрые изречения Сулеймана:
Мудрый сын – радость своего отца,
а глупый сын – горе своей матери.
2Не приносят блага сокровища, нажитые неправдой,
а праведность спасает от смерти.
3Не допустит Вечный, чтобы праведные голодали,
и не даст нечестивым исполнить свои желания.
4Ленивые руки ввергают в бедность,
а усердные – приносят богатство.
5Собирающий плоды летом – разумный сын,
а спящий в пору жатвы – сын беспутный.
6Головы праведников венчают благословения,
но на устах нечестивых – жестокость10:6 Или: «но уста нечестивых таят жестокость»; также в ст. 11..
7Память о праведных будет благословенна,
а имя нечестивых будет как гниль.
8Мудрый сердцем внимает повелениям,
а болтливого глупца ждёт крушение.
9Идущие честно, идут в безопасности,
но искривляющие свой путь будут уличены.
10Лукаво подмигивающий накличет беду,
а болтливого глупца ждёт крушение.
11Уста праведных – живительный источник,
а на устах нечестивых – жестокость.
12Ненависть будит раздоры,
а любовь покрывает все грехи.
13На устах разумного находится мудрость,
но розга – для спины безрассудного.
14Мудрецы сберегают знание,
но уста глупца приближают гибель.
15Состояние богатого – надёжная крепость,
а нищета бедных – их гибель.
16Плата праведным – это жизнь,
прибыль нечестивых – наказание.
17Внемлющий наставлению – на пути жизни,
но сбивается с пути не слушающий укора.
18Лживые уста у таящего ненависть,
и глуп, кто разносит клевету.
19При многословии не избежать греха,
но тот, кто удерживает язык, – разумен.
20Язык праведника – отборное серебро,
но грош цена разуму нечестивых.
21Многих питают уста праведников,
а глупцы умирают от недостатка разума.
22Благословение Вечного обогащает,
и не прилагает Он скорби к богатству.
23Забава глупца – поступать порочно,
а мудрость – радость разумного.
24Что пугает нечестивых, то и постигнет их,
а желания праведных будут исполнены.
25Пронесётся буря и сметёт нечестивых,
а праведные устоят вовеки.
26Как уксус зубам и дым глазам,
так и лентяй для тех, кто его посылает.
27Страх перед Вечным прибавит жизни,
а жизнь нечестивого сократится.
28Надежда праведных ведёт к радости,
а предвкушение нечестивых не сбудется.
29Вечный – убежище для непорочных,
но погибель для тех, кто творит зло.
30Праведные не искоренятся вовеки,
но нечестивые в стране не останутся.
31Уста праведных изрекают мудрость,
а порочный язык будет отсечён.
32Язык праведных знает уместное,
а уста нечестивых – порочное.
1The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.

24The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted. 25As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an everlasting foundation. 26As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him.
27The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.10.27 prolongeth: Heb. addeth 28The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.
29The way of the LORD is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity. 30The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.
