Tillid til Guds beskyttelse

2Jeg sætter al min lid til Gud,
for kun han kan frelse mig.
3Ja, han er mit skjold og mit værn,
hos ham kan jeg være tryg.
4Hvor længe vil I angribe en sagesløs mand
og forsøge at slå mig omkuld?
I ser på mig som en hældende mur
eller et faldefærdigt stakit.
5I ønsker at styrte mig fra min høje position,
og I er fulde af løgn og bedrag.
Jeres ord virker venlige,
men indvendig er I fulde af foragt.
6Jeg sætter al min lid til Gud,
for kun han giver mig håb.
7Ja, han er mit skjold og mit værn,
hos ham kan jeg være tryg.
8Det er Gud, der hjælper mig og giver mig ære.
Han er mit værn og mit tilflugtssted.
9Stol altid på Gud, mit folk.
Udøs jeres hjerte for ham,
for han er et værn for os alle.
10Menneskers tanker er tomhed,
deres hæderlighed er blot et bedrag.
Hvis man forsøgte at måle deres troskab,
ville det ikke give udslag på vægten.
11Man kan blive rig på uretmæssig vis,
men det giver ikke tryghed og fred.
Selv om din velstand skulle vokse,
må du ikke bygge dit liv på den.
12-13Gud har fortalt os to grundlæggende ting
om sit eget guddommelige væsen:
Han er mægtig, trofast og kærlig,
og han dømmer alle efter deres handlinger.

1Truly my soul finds rest in God;
my salvation comes from him.
2Truly he is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.
3How long will you assault me?
Would all of you throw me down—
this leaning wall, this tottering fence?
4Surely they intend to topple me
from my lofty place;
they take delight in lies.
With their mouths they bless,
but in their hearts they curse.62:4 The Hebrew has Selah (a word of uncertain meaning) here and at the end of verse 8.
5Yes, my soul, find rest in God;
my hope comes from him.
6Truly he is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.
7My salvation and my honor depend on God62:7 Or / God Most High is my salvation and my honor;
he is my mighty rock, my refuge.
8Trust in him at all times, you people;
pour out your hearts to him,
for God is our refuge.
9Surely the lowborn are but a breath,
the highborn are but a lie.
If weighed on a balance, they are nothing;
together they are only a breath.
10Do not trust in extortion
or put vain hope in stolen goods;
though your riches increase,
do not set your heart on them.
11One thing God has spoken,
two things I have heard:
“Power belongs to you, God,
12and with you, Lord, is unfailing love”;
and, “You reward everyone
according to what they have done.”
