2Il est bon de louer l’Eternel,
de te célébrer ╵par des chants, ╵ô Très-Haut !
3Et de proclamer, ╵dès le point du jour, ╵ton amour,
tout au long des nuits, ╵ta fidélité,
4sur la cithare à dix cordes92.4 Terme de sens incertain.,

5Ce que tu fais, Eternel, ╵me remplit de joie
et j’acclamerai
les ouvrages de tes mains.
6Que tes œuvres sont grandioses, ╵Eternel !
Que tes pensées sont profondes !
7L’insensé n’y connaît rien,
le sot ne peut les comprendre.
8Si les malfaisants ╵croissent comme l’herbe,
si tous les méchants ╵sont si florissants,
c’est pour périr à jamais.
9Mais toi, tu es tout là-haut,
Eternel, ╵pour toujours.
10Car voici tes ennemis, ╵Eternel,
car voici tes ennemis périssent,
et tous ceux qui font le mal ╵seront dispersés !
11Mais tu me remplis de force, ╵je suis comme un buffle,
je me suis enduit ╵d’huile fraîche.
12Je regarde tous mes détracteurs,
j’entends tous mes adversaires ╵qui s’emploient au mal.
13Car les justes poussent ╵comme le palmier,
ils grandissent ╵comme un cèdre du Liban92.13 Symbole de la prospérité durable opposée à la croissance rapide mais éphémère du méchant (v. 8). Le palmier résiste à la chaleur du désert, le cèdre aux neiges du Liban..
14Bien plantés ╵dans la demeure de l’Eternel,
ils fleurissent ╵sur les parvis du temple, ╵de notre Dieu.
15Ils seront féconds ╵jusqu’en leur vieillesse
et ils resteront ╵pleins de sève et de vigueur,
16ils proclameront ╵combien l’Eternel est droit :
il est mon rocher, ╵on ne trouve en lui ╵aucune injustice.

4For thou, LORD, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands.
5O LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep.

7When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed for ever:
8But thou, LORD, art most high for evermore.
9For, lo, thine enemies, O LORD, for, lo, thine enemies shall perish; all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.
10But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil.
11Mine eye also shall see my desire on mine enemies, and mine ears shall hear my desire of the wicked that rise up against me.
12The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
13Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God.

15To shew that the LORD is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.
