Ang Kaalam ug ang Kabuang
1Ang kaalam sama sa usa ka tawo nga nagpatukod ug dako ug matahom nga balay.9:1 dako ug matahom nga balay: sa literal, balay nga may pito ka haligi. 2Nagpakombira siya; nagaandam ug mga pagkaon ug ilimnon. 3Unya gisugo niya ang iyang mga sulugoong babaye nga moadtog habog nga mga dapit sa lungsod aron imantala kini: 4“Kamong mga walay alamag ug pagsabot, giimbitar kamo sa kombira. 5Panganhi kamo aron mokaon ug moinom sa akong giandam. 6Undanga na ang inyong pagkawalay-alamag aron padayon kamong mabuhi. Pagkinabuhi kamo nga may pagsabot.”
7Kon badlongon mo ang tawong mabiay-biayon, insultohon ka niya. Kon badlongon mo ang tawong daotan, pasipad-an ka niya. 8Ayaw badlonga ang tawong mabiay-biayon kay kapungtan ka niya. Badlonga ang tawong maalamon ug higugmaon ka niya. 9Tudloi ang maalamon, ug mahimo siyang mas maalamon. Tudloi ang tawong matarong ug madugangan pa gayod ang iyang kahibalo.
10Kon gusto ka magmaalamon, tahora ang Ginoo. Kon ilhon mo ang Balaan nga Dios, makaangkon kag maayong panabot. 11Pinaagi sa kaalam, motaas ang imong kinabuhi. 12Kon maalamon ka, makahatag kini kanimog kaayohan, apan kon isalikway mo ang kaalam, ikaw ray mag-antos.
13Ang kabuang sama sa usa ka babayeng sabaan, walay alamag, ug walay kahibalo. 14Maglingkod siya sa pultahan sa iyang balay o sa habog nga mga dapit sa lungsod, 15ug manawag sa mga molabay nga nagapadulong sa ilang mga trabaho. 16Moingon siya, “Kamong mga walay alamag, dali kamo dinhi.” Ug ingon pa niya sa mga walay panabot, 17“Mas lami ang tubig nga kinawat ug mas lami ang pagkaon nga kan-on sa tago.”9:17 Tingali ang buot ipasabot nga ang gidili mao hinuoy lami. 18Apan wala masayod ang mga tawo nga ang moadto kaniya mamatay. Ang nakaadto na kaniya anaa na karon sa dapit sa mga patay.
1Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars: 2She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table.9.2 her beasts: Heb. her killing 3She hath sent forth her maidens: she crieth upon the highest places of the city, 4Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him, 5Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled. 6Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding. 7He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot. 8Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee. 9Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning. 10The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. 11For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased. 12If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it.
13¶ A foolish woman is clamorous: she is simple, and knoweth nothing. 14For she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city, 15To call passengers who go right on their ways: 16Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: and as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him, 17Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.9.17 eaten…: Heb. of secrecies 18But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell.
