1Sa kasuko sa Ginoo gitabonan niya sa kangitngit ang Jerusalem.2:1 Jerusalem: sa Hebreo, anak nga babaye sa Zion. Gisalikway niya ang dungganon nga Israel nga daw sa gilabay niya kini gikan sa langit paingon sa yuta. Tungod sa iyang kasuko gipasagdan niya bisan ang iyang templo. 2Gilaglag niya nga walay kalooy ang tanang mga balay sa mga kaliwat ni Jacob. Sa iyang kasuko gipangguba niya ang pinarilan nga mga lungsod sa Juda.2:2 Juda: sa Hebreo, anak nga babaye sa Juda. Gisalikway niya ug gipakaulawan kining maong gingharian ug ang mga pangulo niini. 3Sa labihan niya nga kasuko, gikuhaan niya sa tanang gahom ang Israel. Wala niya kini tabangi sa dihang gisulong kini sa kaaway. Sama siya sa kalayo nga milamoy sa mga kaliwat ni Jacob ug sa tanang anaa sa ilang palibot.
4Gipunting niya ang iyang pana sa iyang katawhan, nga daw siya ilang kaaway. Gipamatay niya ang tanang gimahal sa iyang katawhan. Gipatagamtam niya sa mga lumulupyo sa Jerusalem ang iyang labihan nga kasuko nga daw sa kalayo. 5Sama sa usa ka kaaway, gilaglag sa Ginoo ang Israel. Giguba niya ang pinarilan nga mga lungsod sa Israel ug ang tanang lig-ong bahin niini. Gidugangan niya ang kasubo ug panaghilak sa Juda. 6Giguba niya ang iyang templo nga daw sa usa lang kini ka payag sa uma. Pagbuot niya nga kalimtan sa katawhan sa Jerusalem ang gitakda nga mga pista ug Adlaw nga Igpapahulay. Sa iyang hilabihang kasuko gisalikway niya ang mga hari ug mga pari. 7Gisalikway sa Ginoo ang iyang halaran ug ang iyang templo. Gipaguba niya sa mga kaaway ang mga paril sa lig-ong mga bahin sa Jerusalem. Naninggit ang mga kaaway didto sa sulod sa templo sa Ginoo nga daw sa nagsaulog sila sa pista.
8Determinado ang Ginoo sa pagguba sa mga paril sa palibot sa Jerusalem. Giplano niya pag-ayo ang pagguba niini, ug gihimo gayod niya kini. Busa nangaguba ang mga depensa ug mga paril. 9Natabonan ug yuta ang mga pultahan sa Jerusalem. Gipangguba ug gipangbali sa Ginoo ang mga trangka niini. Gipangbihag ang hari ug ang dungganon nga mga tawo sa Jerusalem. Wala na itudlo ang balaod, ug wala nay mensahe ang mga propeta gikan sa Ginoo. 10Ang mga tigdumala sa Jerusalem hilom nga nangyaka sa yuta. Gibutangan nila ug abog ang ilang mga ulo ug nagbisti silag sako sa pagpakita sa ilang pagsubo. Ang mga putli nga babaye sa Jerusalem nangduko sa kaulaw.
11Nanghubag ang akong mga mata sa pagsigeg hilak. Hilabihan ang kasakit nga akong gibati. Daw mobuto ang akong dughan tungod sa pagkalaglag sa akong mga katawhan. Nangakuyapan diha sa mga kadalanan sa siyudad ang mga kabataan ug mga masuso. 12Naghilak sila nga nangayo sa ilang inahan ug pagkaon ug mainom. Nangakuyapan sila sama sa mga sundalo nga nasamdan sa mga kadalanan sa siyudad, ug hinay-hinay silang nangamatay sa bukton sa ilang inahan. 13Unsa may ikasulti ko kanimo, O Jerusalem?2:13 Jerusalem: sa Hebreo, anak nga babaye sa Jerusalem… putli nga anak nga babaye sa Zion. Sa unsa ko man itandi ang imong pag-antos? Ang imong samad daw sama kalawom sa dagat. Unsaon ko man ikaw pagdasig? Kinsa may makaayo kanimo? 14Ang mga mensahe sa imong mga propeta dili tinuod, walay pulos ug nagapahisalaag lang kanimo. Wala nila ipadayag ang imong mga sala aron dili ka unta mabihag.
15Ang tanang manglabay diha kanimo mamalakpak, mangatawa, ug magpanglingo sa pagbiaybiay kanimo. Moingon sila sa Jerusalem, “Mao ba kini ang siyudad nga gitawag nga ‘Labing Matahom’ ug ‘Kalipay sa Tibuok Kalibotan?’ ” 16Ang tanan mong kaaway nagabiaybiay kanimo. Mangyam-id sila ug magpangagot sa ilang mga ngipon nga nagaingon, “Nalaglag ra gayod nato siya! Miabot na gayod ang adlaw nga atong gipaabot!”
17Gibuhat gayod sa Ginoo ang iyang giplano. Gituman gayod niya ang iyang giingon kaniadto. Gilaglag ka niya, O Jerusalem, sa walay kalooy. Gilipay niya ang imongmga kaaway pinaagi sa imong kalaglagan, ug gitugotan sila nga manghambog sa ilang gahom. 18Mga katawhan sa Jerusalem, pagpakitabang kamo sa Ginoo. Pabahaa nga daw suba ang inyong mga luha adlaw ug gabii. Ayaw kamo pag-undang sa paghilak. 19Bangon kamo sa kagabhion ug pangayog tabang sa Ginoo. Ipahungaw ang tanan ninyong gibati ngadto kaniya, nga daw sa nagayabo kamo sa tubig. Ibayaw ang inyong mga kamot sa pag-ampo alang sa kinabuhi sa inyong mga anak nga nangakuyapan na sa kagutom diha sa kadalanan.
20O Ginoo, tan-awa kami! Hunahunaa kon kinsay imong gipaantos ug sama niini. Makatarunganon ba nga tungod sa labihan nga kagutom, kaonon sa mga inahan ang ilang hinigugma nga mga anak? Makatarunganon ba nga pamatyon ang mga pari ug mga propeta sa imong templo? 21Nagbuy-od sa mga kadalanan ang mga patay nga lawas sa mga bata ug tigulang. Nangamatay sa gira ang mga putli nga babaye ug ang mga batan-ong lalaki. Gipamatay mo sila sa walay kalooy tungod sa imong kasuko. 22Giimbitar mo ang mga kaaway ko sa akong palibot sa pagsulong kanako nga daw sa nagaimbitar ka ngadto sa usa ka kombira. Sa adlaw nga gipakita mo ang imong kasuko, wala gayoy nakaikyas o nahibiling buhi. Gipamatay sa akong mga kaaway ang akong mga anak nga akong giatiman ug gipadako.
1How hath the Lord covered the daughter of Zion with a cloud in his anger, and cast down from heaven unto the earth the beauty of Israel, and remembered not his footstool in the day of his anger! 2The Lord hath swallowed up all the habitations of Jacob, and hath not pitied: he hath thrown down in his wrath the strong holds of the daughter of Judah; he hath brought them down to the ground: he hath polluted the kingdom and the princes thereof.2.2 brought…: Heb. made to touch 3He hath cut off in his fierce anger all the horn of Israel: he hath drawn back his right hand from before the enemy, and he burned against Jacob like a flaming fire, which devoureth round about. 4He hath bent his bow like an enemy: he stood with his right hand as an adversary, and slew all that were pleasant to the eye in the tabernacle of the daughter of Zion: he poured out his fury like fire.2.4 all…: Heb. all the desirable of the eye 5The Lord was as an enemy: he hath swallowed up Israel, he hath swallowed up all her palaces: he hath destroyed his strong holds, and hath increased in the daughter of Judah mourning and lamentation. 6And he hath violently taken away his tabernacle, as if it were of a garden: he hath destroyed his places of the assembly: the LORD hath caused the solemn feasts and sabbaths to be forgotten in Zion, and hath despised in the indignation of his anger the king and the priest.2.6 tabernacle: or, hedge 7The Lord hath cast off his altar, he hath abhorred his sanctuary, he hath given up into the hand of the enemy the walls of her palaces; they have made a noise in the house of the LORD, as in the day of a solemn feast.2.7 given up: Heb. shut up 8The LORD hath purposed to destroy the wall of the daughter of Zion: he hath stretched out a line, he hath not withdrawn his hand from destroying: therefore he made the rampart and the wall to lament; they languished together.2.8 destroying: Heb. swallowing up 9Her gates are sunk into the ground; he hath destroyed and broken her bars: her king and her princes are among the Gentiles: the law is no more; her prophets also find no vision from the LORD.
10The elders of the daughter of Zion sit upon the ground, and keep silence: they have cast up dust upon their heads; they have girded themselves with sackcloth: the virgins of Jerusalem hang down their heads to the ground. 11Mine eyes do fail with tears, my bowels are troubled, my liver is poured upon the earth, for the destruction of the daughter of my people; because the children and the sucklings swoon in the streets of the city.2.11 swoon: or, faint 12They say to their mothers, Where is corn and wine? when they swooned as the wounded in the streets of the city, when their soul was poured out into their mothers’ bosom. 13What thing shall I take to witness for thee? what thing shall I liken to thee, O daughter of Jerusalem? what shall I equal to thee, that I may comfort thee, O virgin daughter of Zion? for thy breach is great like the sea: who can heal thee? 14Thy prophets have seen vain and foolish things for thee: and they have not discovered thine iniquity, to turn away thy captivity; but have seen for thee false burdens and causes of banishment. 15All that pass by clap their hands at thee; they hiss and wag their head at the daughter of Jerusalem, saying, Is this the city that men call The perfection of beauty, The joy of the whole earth?2.15 by: Heb. by the way 16All thine enemies have opened their mouth against thee: they hiss and gnash the teeth: they say, We have swallowed her up: certainly this is the day that we looked for; we have found, we have seen it. 17The LORD hath done that which he had devised; he hath fulfilled his word that he had commanded in the days of old: he hath thrown down, and hath not pitied: and he hath caused thine enemy to rejoice over thee, he hath set up the horn of thine adversaries. 18Their heart cried unto the Lord, O wall of the daughter of Zion, let tears run down like a river day and night: give thyself no rest; let not the apple of thine eye cease. 19Arise, cry out in the night: in the beginning of the watches pour out thine heart like water before the face of the Lord: lift up thy hands toward him for the life of thy young children, that faint for hunger in the top of every street.
20¶ Behold, O LORD, and consider to whom thou hast done this. Shall the women eat their fruit, and children of a span long? shall the priest and the prophet be slain in the sanctuary of the Lord?2.20 of a span…: or, swaddled with their hands? 21The young and the old lie on the ground in the streets: my virgins and my young men are fallen by the sword; thou hast slain them in the day of thine anger; thou hast killed, and not pitied. 22Thou hast called as in a solemn day my terrors round about, so that in the day of the LORD’s anger none escaped nor remained: those that I have swaddled and brought up hath mine enemy consumed.
