Ang Pasidaan kang Zedekia
1-2Gisulong ni Nebucadnezar nga hari sa Babilonia ang Jerusalem ug ang mga lungsod sa palibot niini. Uban niya sa pagsulong ang tanan niyang sundalo lakip ang mga sundalo gikan sa tanang gingharian nga sakop niya. Niadtong higayona miingon ang Ginoo, ang Dios sa Israel, kang Jeremias: “Adto kang Zedekia nga hari sa Juda ug ingna siya nga ako, ang Ginoo, nagaingon: Itugyan ko kini nga siyudad sa mga kamot sa hari sa Babilonia ug sunogon niya kini. 3Dili ka gayod makaikyas gikan kaniya. Madakpan ka ug itugyan ngadto kaniya. Ipaatubang ka kaniya ug unya bihagon ka ngadto sa Babilonia. 4Apan Haring Zedekia, patalinghogi kining akong saad kanimo: Dili ka mamatay sa gira; 5mamatay ka nga malinawon. Ug sa imong lubong, magsunog ug insenso ang imong katawhan sa pagpasidungog kanimo, sama sa ilang gihimo sa lubong sa imong mga katigulangan nga naghari una kanimo. Magsubo sila alang kanimo ug moingon, ‘Hala, patay na ang atong hari!’ Mahitabo gayod kini, kay ako, ang Ginoo, ang nagaingon niini.”
6Unya miadto si Jeremias sa Jerusalem, ug gisulti kining tanan kang Zedekia nga hari sa Juda. 7Gisulong na niadto sa mga sundalo sa hari sa Babilonia ang Jerusalem, Lakish, ug Azeka. Mao na lang kini ang pinarilan nga mga lungsod sa Juda nga wala nila mailog.
Ang Paghatag ug Kagawasan sa mga Ulipon
8May gisulti ang Ginoo kang Jeremias human maghimo ug kasabotan si Haring Zedekia uban sa tanang katawhan sa Jerusalem nga hatagan nilag kagawasan ang mga ulipon. 9Nagkasabot sila nga kinahanglan hatagan sa tanan ug kagawasan ang ilang mga ulipon nga Hebreo, lalaki man o babaye, ug kinahanglan nga wala nay Judio nga moulipon sa iyang isigka-Judio. 10Miuyon niini nga kasabotan ang tanang mga tawo lakip ang mga opisyal, ug gihatagan nilag kagawasan ang ilang mga ulipon, lalaki man o babaye. 11Apan pagkahuman, nausab ang ilang hunahuna ug gikuha nila pagbalik ang mga ulipon nga gihatagan na nilag kagawasan, ug gipugos nga magpaulipon pag-usab.
12-13Busa miingon ang Ginoo, ang Dios sa Israel, kang Jeremias, “Naghimo akog kasabotan sa inyong mga katigulangan sa dihang gipagawas ko sila gikan sa yuta sa Ehipto diin sila giulipon. Miingon ako kanila, 14‘Matag ikapito ka tuig kinahanglang hatagan ninyog kagawasan ang inyong isigka-Hebreohanon nga nagbaligya sa iyang kaugalingon diha kaninyo ingon nga ulipon. Human siya makaalagad kaninyo ug unom ka tuig, kinahanglan hatagan gayod ninyo siyag kagawasan.’ Apan wala gayod motuman o maminaw ang inyong mga katigulangan kanako. 15Dili pa lang dugay, naghinulsol kamo ug gihimo ninyo ang husto sa akong panan-aw pinaagi sa paghatag ug kagawasan sa inyong katagilungsod. Naghimo pa gani kamo ug kasabotan kanako bahin niini didto sa templo diin ginapasidunggan ang akong ngalan. 16Apan karon, nausab ang inyong hunahuna ug gipakaulawan ninyo ako. Gikuha ninyo pagbalik ang mga ulipon nga inyong gihatagan ug kagawasan sumala sa ilang gusto, ug gipugos ninyo sila nga mahimo na usab ninyong mga ulipon.
17“Busa ako, ang Ginoo, nagaingon nga tungod kay wala ninyo ako tumana ug wala ninyo hatagig kagawasan ang inyong mga kadugo ug katagilungsod nga giulipon ninyo, hatagan ko kamog kagawasan—kagawasan nga mamatay sa gira, kagutom, ug balatian. Tungod sa mahitabo kaninyo mahadlok ang tanang gingharian sa kalibotan. 18-19Ang mga opisyal sa Jerusalem ug sa ubang bahin sa Juda ug ang mga opisyal sa palasyo, apil ang mga pari ug ang uban pang mga lumulupyo, naghimog kasabotan kanako pinaagi sa pagpikas ug nating baka ug pag-agi sa taliwala niini. Apan wala nila tumana ang ilang kasabotan kanako, busa himuon ko kanila ang ilang gihimo sa nating baka. 20Itugyan ko sila sa kamot sa ilang mga kaaway nga gustong mopatay kanila. Ug ang ilang mga patayng lawas mahimong kalan-on sa mga langgam ug ihalas nga mga mananap.
21“Itugyan ko si Haring Zedekia nga hari sa Juda ug ang iyang mga opisyal sa mga sundalo sa hari sa Babilonia. Itugyan ko sila ngadto sa ilang mga kaaway nga gustong mopatay kanila. Bisan ug miundang na ang mga sundalo sa hari sa Babilonia sa pagsulong kaninyo, 22mandoan ko sila sa pagsulong pag-usab sa inyong siyudad. Sulongon nila kini ug ilogon, ug unya sunogon. Himuon kong awaaw ang mga lungsod sa Juda ug wala nay magpuyo niini. Ako, ang Ginoo, ang nagaingon niini.”
1The word which came unto Jeremiah from the LORD, when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and all his army, and all the kingdoms of the earth of his dominion, and all the people, fought against Jerusalem, and against all the cities thereof, saying,34.1 of his…: Heb. the dominion of his hand 2Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel; Go and speak to Zedekiah king of Judah, and tell him, Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire: 3And thou shalt not escape out of his hand, but shalt surely be taken, and delivered into his hand; and thine eyes shall behold the eyes of the king of Babylon, and he shall speak with thee mouth to mouth, and thou shalt go to Babylon.34.3 he shall…: Heb. his mouth shall speak to thy mouth 4Yet hear the word of the LORD, O Zedekiah king of Judah; Thus saith the LORD of thee, Thou shalt not die by the sword: 5But thou shalt die in peace: and with the burnings of thy fathers, the former kings which were before thee, so shall they burn odours for thee; and they will lament thee, saying, Ah lord! for I have pronounced the word, saith the LORD. 6Then Jeremiah the prophet spake all these words unto Zedekiah king of Judah in Jerusalem, 7When the king of Babylon’s army fought against Jerusalem, and against all the cities of Judah that were left, against Lachish, and against Azekah: for these defenced cities remained of the cities of Judah.
8¶ This is the word that came unto Jeremiah from the LORD, after that the king Zedekiah had made a covenant with all the people which were at Jerusalem, to proclaim liberty unto them; 9That every man should let his manservant, and every man his maidservant, being an Hebrew or an Hebrewess, go free; that none should serve himself of them, to wit, of a Jew his brother. 10Now when all the princes, and all the people, which had entered into the covenant, heard that every one should let his manservant, and every one his maidservant, go free, that none should serve themselves of them any more, then they obeyed, and let them go. 11But afterward they turned, and caused the servants and the handmaids, whom they had let go free, to return, and brought them into subjection for servants and for handmaids.
12¶ Therefore the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, 13Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel; I made a covenant with your fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondmen, saying, 14At the end of seven years let ye go every man his brother an Hebrew, which hath been sold unto thee; and when he hath served thee six years, thou shalt let him go free from thee: but your fathers hearkened not unto me, neither inclined their ear.34.14 hath been…: or, hath sold himself 15And ye were now turned, and had done right in my sight, in proclaiming liberty every man to his neighbour; and ye had made a covenant before me in the house which is called by my name:34.15 now: Heb. to day34.15 which…: Heb. whereupon my name is called 16But ye turned and polluted my name, and caused every man his servant, and every man his handmaid, whom ye had set at liberty at their pleasure, to return, and brought them into subjection, to be unto you for servants and for handmaids. 17Therefore thus saith the LORD; Ye have not hearkened unto me, in proclaiming liberty, every one to his brother, and every man to his neighbour: behold, I proclaim a liberty for you, saith the LORD, to the sword, to the pestilence, and to the famine; and I will make you to be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth.34.17 to be…: Heb. for a removing 18And I will give the men that have transgressed my covenant, which have not performed the words of the covenant which they had made before me, when they cut the calf in twain, and passed between the parts thereof, 19The princes of Judah, and the princes of Jerusalem, the eunuchs, and the priests, and all the people of the land, which passed between the parts of the calf; 20I will even give them into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of them that seek their life: and their dead bodies shall be for meat unto the fowls of the heaven, and to the beasts of the earth. 21And Zedekiah king of Judah and his princes will I give into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of them that seek their life, and into the hand of the king of Babylon’s army, which are gone up from you. 22Behold, I will command, saith the LORD, and cause them to return to this city; and they shall fight against it, and take it, and burn it with fire: and I will make the cities of Judah a desolation without an inhabitant.
