Pasidaan alang sa mga Pangulo sa Israel nga Nagasimba sa mga Dios-dios
1Usa ka higayon, mianhi kanako ang mga pangulo sa Israel ug nanglingkod sila sa akong atubangan aron sa pagpangayo ug mensahe gikan sa Ginoo. 2Miingon ang Ginoo kanako, 3“Tawo, kini nga mga tawhana nagmahal pag-ayo sa ilang mga dios-dios nga mao ang nagtukmod kanila sa pagpakasala, busa nganong tugotan ko man sila nga mangayo ug mensahe gikan kanako? 4Karon, ingna sila nga ako, ang Ginoo nga Dios, nagaingon: Si bisan kinsa nga Israelinhon nga nagmahal pag-ayo sa iyang mga dios-dios nga nagtukmod kaniya sa pagpakasala, unya mangayo ug mensahe sa Dios gikan sa propeta, ako, ang Ginoo, mao mismo ang motubag kaniya pinaagi sa silot basi sa gidaghanon sa iyang mga dios-dios. 5Himuon ko kini aron mobalik kanako ang tanang mga Israelinhon nga nahilayo kanako tungod sa ilang mga dios-dios.
6“Busa karon, ingna ang katawhan sa Israel nga ako, ang Ginoo nga Dios, nagaingon, ‘Paghinulsol kamo ug isalikway ang inyong mga dios-dios, ug biyai ang tanan ninyong mangil-ad nga mga buhat. 7Si bisan kinsa nga Israelinhon o langyaw nga nagapuyo sa Israel, nga mobiya kanako ug magmahal pag-ayo sa iyang mga dios-dios nga mao ang magtukmod kaniya sa pagpakasala, ug unya mangayo ug mensahe kanako pinaagi sa propeta, ako, ang Ginoo, mao mismo ang motubag kaniya pinaagi sa silot. 8Kontrahon ko siya ug himuon ko siya nga usa ka pasidaan ngadto sa mga tawo, ug mahimo siyang hilisgotan. Hinginlan ko siya gikan sa akong katawhan. Unya mahibaloan ninyo nga ako mao ang Ginoo.
9“ ‘Apan kon ang usa ka propeta nadani sa paghatag ug panagna niana nga tawo, kini tungod kay ako, ang Ginoo, mao ang nagdani kaniya. Silotan ko siya ug hinginlan gikan sa akong katawhan nga mga Israelinhon. 10Managsamang silotan ang propeta ug ang tawo nga nangayo kaniya ug mensahe. 11Himuon ko kini aron ang mga Israelinhon dili na mobiya kanako, ug dili na nila hugawan ang ilang kaugalingon pinaagi sa ilang pagpakasala. Mahimo silang akong katawhan, ug ako mahimo nga ilang Dios. Ako, ang Ginoo nga Dios, ang nagaingon niini.’ ”
12Miingon ang Ginoo kanako, 13“Tawo, kon makasala kanako ang usa ka nasod pinaagi sa pagluib kanako, silotan ko kini, ug kuhaon ko ang tinubdan sa ilang pagkaon. Padad-an ko silag kagutom aron mangamatay sila ug ang ilang mga mananap. 14Bisan pag anaa uban kanila si Noe, si Daniel, ug si Job, sila lang ang maluwas tungod sa ilang pagkamatarong. Ako, ang Ginoo nga Dios, ang nagaingon niini.
15“O kaha padad-an ko ug mabangis nga mga mananap kana nga nasod aron sa pagpatay sa iyang mga lumulupyo, ug mahimo nga mingaw kini nga dapit ug wala nay mag-agian niini tungod sa kahadlok sa mabangis nga mga mananap. 16Bisan pag anaa uban kanila si Noe, si Daniel, ug si Job, ako, ang Ginoo nga Dios nga buhi, nanumpa nga dili gyud niini nga tulo maluwas ang ilang mga anak kondili ang ila rang kaugalingon. Ug ang mao nga nasod mahimo nga mingaw.
17“O kaha padad-an kog gubat kana nga nasod aron sa pagpatay sa mga nagpuyo niini ug sa ilang mga mananap, 18bisan pag anaa uban kanila si Noe, si Daniel, ug si Job, ako, ang Ginoo nga Dios nga buhi, nanumpa nga dili gyud niini nga tulo maluwas ang ilang mga anak kondili ang ila rang kaugalingon.
19“O kaha padad-an kog sakit kana nga nasod aron mangamatay ang mga nagpuyo niini ug ang ilang mga mananap, 20bisan pag anaa uban kanila si Noe, si Daniel, ug si Job, ako, ang Ginoo nga Dios nga buhi, nanumpa nga dili gyud niini nga tulo maluwas ang ilang mga anak kondili ang ila rang kaugalingon tungod sa ilang pagkamatarong.
21“Sa pagkatinuod, ako, ang Ginoo nga Dios, nagaingon nga alaot ang Jerusalem kon padad-an ko kini sa upat ka bug-at nga mga silot—gubat, kagutom, mabangis nga mga mananap, ug mga balatian—nga mopatay sa mga nagpuyo niini ug sa ilang mga mananap. 22Apan may mahibilin nga buhi kanila, ug pagadad-on sila dinhi sa Babylon ug iipon kaninyo ingon nga mga bihag. Makita ninyo kon unsa kadaotan ang ilang gawi ug ang ilang mga binuhatan, ug mawala ang kalain sa inyong buot sa akong pagsilot sa Jerusalem. 23Mawala ang kalain sa inyong buot kon makita ninyo ang ilang gawi ug ang ilang mga binuhatan, ug masabtan ninyo nga may hinungdan ngano nga gihimo ko kadto sa Jerusalem. Ako, ang Ginoo nga Dios, ang nagaingon niini.”
Idolaters condemned
1Some of the elders of Israel came to me and sat down in front of me. 2Then the word of the Lord came to me: 3‘Son of man, these men have set up idols in their hearts and put wicked stumbling-blocks before their faces. Should I let them enquire of me at all? 4Therefore speak to them and tell them, “This is what the Sovereign Lord says: when any of the Israelites set up idols in their hearts and put a wicked stumbling-block before their faces and then go to a prophet, I the Lord will answer them myself in keeping with their great idolatry. 5I will do this to recapture the hearts of the people of Israel, who have all deserted me for their idols.”
6‘Therefore say to the people of Israel, “This is what the Sovereign Lord says: repent! Turn from your idols and renounce all your detestable practices!
7‘ “When any of the Israelites or any foreigner residing in Israel separate themselves from me and set up idols in their hearts and put a wicked stumbling-block before their faces and then go to a prophet to enquire of me, I the Lord will answer them myself. 8I will set my face against them and make them an example and a byword. I will remove them from my people. Then you will know that I am the Lord.
9‘ “And if the prophet is enticed to utter a prophecy, I the Lord have enticed that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand against him and destroy him from among my people Israel. 10They will bear their guilt – the prophet will be as guilty as the one who consults him. 11Then the people of Israel will no longer stray from me, nor will they defile themselves anymore with all their sins. They will be my people, and I will be their God, declares the Sovereign Lord.” ’
Jerusalem’s judgment inescapable
12The word of the Lord came to me: 13‘Son of man, if a country sins against me by being unfaithful and I stretch out my hand against it to cut off its food supply and send famine upon it and kill its people and their animals, 14even if these three men – Noah, Daniel14:14 Or Danel, a man of renown in ancient literature; also in verse 20 and Job – were in it, they could save only themselves by their righteousness, declares the Sovereign Lord.
15‘Or if I send wild beasts through that country and they leave it childless and it becomes desolate so that no-one can pass through it because of the beasts, 16as surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, even if these three men were in it, they could not save their own sons or daughters. They alone would be saved, but the land would be desolate.
17‘Or if I bring a sword against that country and say, “Let the sword pass throughout the land,” and I kill its people and their animals, 18as surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, even if these three men were in it, they could not save their own sons or daughters. They alone would be saved.
19‘Or if I send a plague into that land and pour out my wrath on it through bloodshed, killing its people and their animals, 20as surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, even if Noah, Daniel and Job were in it, they could save neither son nor daughter. They would save only themselves by their righteousness.
21‘For this is what the Sovereign Lord says: how much worse will it be when I send against Jerusalem my four dreadful judgments – sword and famine and wild beasts and plague – to kill its men and their animals! 22Yet there will be some survivors – sons and daughters who will be brought out of it. They will come to you, and when you see their conduct and their actions, you will be consoled regarding the disaster I have brought on Jerusalem – every disaster I have brought on it. 23You will be consoled when you see their conduct and their actions, for you will know that I have done nothing in it without cause, declares the Sovereign Lord.’
