Mibalik ang Babaye nga Taga-Shunem
1Usa ka higayon, giingnan ni Eliseo ang babaye kansang anak iyang gibuhi pag-usab, “Dad-a ang imong panimalay ug pamuyo kamo sa laing lugar, kay nagaingon ang Ginoo nga may kagutom nga moabot sa Israel sulod sa pito ka tuig.” 2Busa gisunod sa babaye ang giingon kaniya sa alagad sa Dios. Milakaw siya ug ang iyang panimalay ug mipuyo sa yuta sa mga Filistihanon sulod sa pito ka tuig.
3Pagkahuman sa pito ka tuig, mibalik siya uban sa iyang panimalay sa Israel ug miadto sa hari sa pagpakilooy nga tabangan siya nga mahibalik kaniya ang iyang balay ug yuta. 4Naabtan niya nga nakigsulti ang hari kang Gehazi nga sulugoon ni Eliseo. Miingon ang hari, “Suginli ako sa tanang kahibulongang mga butang nga gipanghimo ni Eliseo.” 5Ug samtang gisugilon ni Gehazi sa hari kon giunsa pagbuhi ni Eliseo ang bata nga namatay, miduol sa hari ang inahan sa bata ug nagpakilooy nga tabangan siya nga mahibalik kaniya ang iyang balay ug yuta. Miingon si Gehazi, “Mahal nga Hari, mao kini ang babaye ug mao kini ang iyang anak nga gibuhi ni Eliseo.” 6Gipangutana sa hari ang babaye mahitungod niadto, ug gisuginlan siya sa babaye. Busa nagsugo ang hari ug usa ka opisyal aron sa pagtabang sa babaye. Giingnan niya ang opisyal, “Tabangi siya nga mahibalik kaniya ang tanan nga iyang gipanag-iyahan, apil na ang tanang kita sa iyang uma sukad sa pagbiya niya hangtod sa iyang pagbalik.”
Gipatay ni Hazael si Ben Hadad
7Miadto si Eliseo sa Damascus, diin nagsakit si Ben Hadad nga hari sa Aram.8:7 Aram: o, Syria. Sa dihang gisuginlan ang hari nga anaa ang alagad sa Dios, 8miingon siya kang Hazael, “Pagdala ug gasa ug tagboa ang alagad sa Dios. Ingna siya nga pangutan-on ang Ginoo kon maayo pa ba ako sa akong sakit.”
9Busa gipakargahan ni Hazael ang 40 ka kamelyo sa labing maayong mga produkto sa Damascus ug gidala kini kang Eliseo ingon nga gasa. Pag-abot niya kang Eliseo, miingon siya, “Gisugo ako sa imong alagad8:9 alagad: sa Hebreo, anak. nga si Ben Hadad nga hari sa Aram, nga pangutan-on ka kon maayo pa ba siya sa iyang sakit.” 10Mitubag si Eliseo, “Pauli ug ingna siya nga sigurado nga mamaayo siya, apan nagpadayag usab ang Ginoo kanako nga sigurado nga mamatay siya.” 11Unya gitutokan niya pag-ayo si Hazael hangtod nga naulaw kini. Unya mihilak si Eliseo. 12Gipangutana siya ni Hazael, “Sir, nganong mihilak ka man?” Mitubag siya, “Tungod kay nahibaloan ko ang daotan mong pagahimuon sa mga Israelinhon. Sunogon mo ang ilang pinarilan nga mga lungsod, pamatyon mo ang ilang mga pamatan-on, dugmokon mo ang ilang gagmayng mga bata, ug yasyason mo ang tiyan sa ilang mga babayeng mabdos.” 13Mitubag si Hazael, “Sir, unsaon ko kana paghimo? Wala akoy abilidad sa paghimo niana.8:13 Wala akoy… niana: sa literal, Sama lang ako sa isa ka iro.” Mitubag si Eliseo, “Gipadayag sa Ginoo kanako nga mahimo kang hari sa Aram.”
14Mibalik si Hazael sa iyang agalon nga si Ben Hadad ug gipangutana siya niini, “Unsa may giingon ni Eliseo kanimo?” Mitubag si Hazael, “Miingon siya kanako nga sigurado nga mamaayo ka.” 15Apan pagkasunod nga adlaw, mikuha si Hazael ug baga nga panapton ug gituslob niya kini sa tubig ug gitaklap sa nawong sa hari hangtod nga namatay kini. Ug si Hazael ang mipuli ingon nga hari.
Ang Paghari ni Jehoram sa Juda
(2 Cro. 21:4-20)
16Nahimong hari sa Juda si Jehoram nga anak ni Jehoshafat sa ikalimang tuig sa paghari ni Joram, nga anak ni Ahab, sa Israel. 17Nagaedad si Jehoram ug 32 ka tuig sa dihang nahimo siyang hari. Sa Jerusalem siya nagpuyo, ug naghari siya sulod sa walo ka tuig. 18Gisunod niya ang binuhatan sa mga hari sa Israel, sama sa gihimo sa panimalay ni Ahab, kay ang iyang napangasawa anak man ni Ahab. Daotan ang iyang gihimo atubangan sa Ginoo. 19Apan tungod kang David, wala laglaga sa Ginoo ang Juda, kay nagsaad ang Ginoo kang David nga hangtod sa kahangtoran dili siya mawad-ag kaliwat nga magahari.8:19 nagsaad… magahari: sa literal, nagsaad ang Ginoo nga hatagan niya si David ug ang iyang mga kaliwat sa suga hangtod sa kahangtoran.
20Sa panahon sa paghari ni Jehoram, nagrebelde ang Edom sa Juda, ug nagpili sila ug ilang kaugalingong hari. 21Busa miadto si Jehoram sa Zair uban sa tanan niyang tigkarwahe. Apan gilibotan siya ug ang mga komander sa iyang mga tigkarwahe sa mga Edomihanon. Sa pagkagabii, gisulong nila ang mga Edomihanon, ug nakaikyas sila ug namauli. 22Hangtod karon nagarebelde pa gihapon ang Edom sa Juda. Niadtong panahona, nagrebelde usab ang Libna.
23Ang uban pang sugilanon mahitungod sa paghari ni Jehoram, ug ang tanan niyang gihimo, nahisulat sa libro sa mga sugilanon bahin sa mga hari sa Juda. 24Sa dihang namatay si Jehoram, gilubong siya didto sa gilubngan sa iyang mga katigulangan sa Lungsod ni David. Ug si Ahazia nga iyang anak mao ang mipuli kaniya ingon nga hari.
Ang Paghari ni Ahazia sa Juda
(2 Cro. 22:1-6)
25Nahimong hari sa Juda si Ahazia nga anak ni Jehoram sa ika-12 nga tuig sa paghari ni Joram, nga anak ni Ahab, sa Israel. 26Nagaedad si Ahazia ug 22 ka tuig sa dihang nahimo siyang hari. Sa Jerusalem siya nagpuyo, ug naghari siya sulod sa usa ka tuig. Ang iyang inahan mao si Atalia nga apo ni Omri nga hari sa Israel. 27Gisunod niya ang mga binuhatan sa pamilya ni Ahab. Daotan ang iyang gihimo atubangan sa Ginoo, kay nakapangasawa man siya sa usa sa mga miyembro sa pamilya ni Ahab.
28-29Nakig-uban si Ahazia kang Joram nga anak ni Ahab sa pagpakiggira kang Hazael nga hari sa Aram. Naggira sila didto sa Ramot Gilead, ug nasamdan si Joram. Busa mipauli si Haring Joram sa lungsod sa Jezreel aron magpaayo sa iyang mga samad. Ug samtang didto siya, mibisita kaniya si Ahazia nga hari sa Juda.
The Shunammite’s Land Restored
1Now Elisha had said to the woman whose son he had restored to life, “Go away with your family and stay for a while wherever you can, because the Lord has decreed a famine in the land that will last seven years.” 2The woman proceeded to do as the man of God said. She and her family went away and stayed in the land of the Philistines seven years.
3At the end of the seven years she came back from the land of the Philistines and went to appeal to the king for her house and land. 4The king was talking to Gehazi, the servant of the man of God, and had said, “Tell me about all the great things Elisha has done.” 5Just as Gehazi was telling the king how Elisha had restored the dead to life, the woman whose son Elisha had brought back to life came to appeal to the king for her house and land.
Gehazi said, “This is the woman, my lord the king, and this is her son whom Elisha restored to life.” 6The king asked the woman about it, and she told him.
Then he assigned an official to her case and said to him, “Give back everything that belonged to her, including all the income from her land from the day she left the country until now.”
Hazael Murders Ben-Hadad
7Elisha went to Damascus, and Ben-Hadad king of Aram was ill. When the king was told, “The man of God has come all the way up here,” 8he said to Hazael, “Take a gift with you and go to meet the man of God. Consult the Lord through him; ask him, ‘Will I recover from this illness?’ ”
9Hazael went to meet Elisha, taking with him as a gift forty camel-loads of all the finest wares of Damascus. He went in and stood before him, and said, “Your son Ben-Hadad king of Aram has sent me to ask, ‘Will I recover from this illness?’ ”
10Elisha answered, “Go and say to him, ‘You will certainly recover.’ Nevertheless,8:10 The Hebrew may also be read Go and say, ‘You will certainly not recover,’ for. the Lord has revealed to me that he will in fact die.” 11He stared at him with a fixed gaze until Hazael was embarrassed. Then the man of God began to weep.
12“Why is my lord weeping?” asked Hazael.
“Because I know the harm you will do to the Israelites,” he answered. “You will set fire to their fortified places, kill their young men with the sword, dash their little children to the ground, and rip open their pregnant women.”
13Hazael said, “How could your servant, a mere dog, accomplish such a feat?”
“The Lord has shown me that you will become king of Aram,” answered Elisha.
14Then Hazael left Elisha and returned to his master. When Ben-Hadad asked, “What did Elisha say to you?” Hazael replied, “He told me that you would certainly recover.” 15But the next day he took a thick cloth, soaked it in water and spread it over the king’s face, so that he died. Then Hazael succeeded him as king.
Jehoram King of Judah
16In the fifth year of Joram son of Ahab king of Israel, when Jehoshaphat was king of Judah, Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat began his reign as king of Judah. 17He was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years. 18He followed the ways of the kings of Israel, as the house of Ahab had done, for he married a daughter of Ahab. He did evil in the eyes of the Lord. 19Nevertheless, for the sake of his servant David, the Lord was not willing to destroy Judah. He had promised to maintain a lamp for David and his descendants forever.
20In the time of Jehoram, Edom rebelled against Judah and set up its own king. 21So Jehoram8:21 Hebrew Joram, a variant of Jehoram; also in verses 23 and 24 went to Zair with all his chariots. The Edomites surrounded him and his chariot commanders, but he rose up and broke through by night; his army, however, fled back home. 22To this day Edom has been in rebellion against Judah. Libnah revolted at the same time.
23As for the other events of Jehoram’s reign, and all he did, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Judah? 24Jehoram rested with his ancestors and was buried with them in the City of David. And Ahaziah his son succeeded him as king.
Ahaziah King of Judah
25In the twelfth year of Joram son of Ahab king of Israel, Ahaziah son of Jehoram king of Judah began to reign. 26Ahaziah was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem one year. His mother’s name was Athaliah, a granddaughter of Omri king of Israel. 27He followed the ways of the house of Ahab and did evil in the eyes of the Lord, as the house of Ahab had done, for he was related by marriage to Ahab’s family.
28Ahaziah went with Joram son of Ahab to war against Hazael king of Aram at Ramoth Gilead. The Arameans wounded Joram; 29so King Joram returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds the Arameans had inflicted on him at Ramoth8:29 Hebrew Ramah, a variant of Ramoth in his battle with Hazael king of Aram.
Then Ahaziah son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to Jezreel to see Joram son of Ahab, because he had been wounded.
