Ang Paghari ni Amazia sa Juda
(2 Cro. 25:1-28)
1Nahimong hari sa Juda si Amazia nga anak ni Joas sa ikaduhang tuig sa paghari ni Jehoash, nga anak ni Jehoahaz, sa Israel. 2Nagaedad si Amazia ug 25 ka tuig sa dihang nahimo siyang hari. Sa Jerusalem siya nagpuyo, ug naghari siya sulod sa 29 ka tuig. Ang iyang inahan mao si Jehoadan nga taga-Jerusalem. 3Gihimo ni Amazia ang maayo atubangan sa Ginoo, apan dili gayod sama sa gihimo ni David nga iyang katigulangan. Gisunod niya ang iyang amahan nga si Joas. 4Wala usab niya ipaguba ang mga simbahanan diha sa habog nga mga dapit, busa nagpadayon ang mga tawo sa paghalad ug sa pagsunog ug mga insenso didto.
5Sa dihang lig-on na ang paghari ni Amazia, gipapatay niya ang mga opisyal nga nagpatay sa iyang amahan nga hari. 6Apan wala niya ipapatay ang ilang mga anak, kay sumala sa nahisulat sa Libro sa Kasugoan ni Moises, nagaingon ang Ginoo, “Dili angay patyon ang mga ginikanan tungod sa sala sa ilang mga anak, ug ang mga anak dili usab angay patyon tungod sa sala sa ilang mga ginikanan. Patyon lang ang tawo tungod sa iyang kaugalingon nga sala.”
7Nakapatay si Amazia ug 10,000 ka mga taga-Edom sa kapatagan nga gitawag ug Asin. Nailog usab niya ang Sela, ug gitawag niya kinig Jokteel, ug mao gihapon ang ngalan niini hangtod karon.
8Unya, nagpadala si Amazia ug mga mensahero ngadto sa hari sa Israel nga si Jehoash nga anak ni Jehoahaz ug apo ni Jehu. Mao kini ang iyang mensahe: “Dali, atubanga ako sa usa ka panag-away.” 9Apan gitubag siya ni Haring Jehoash pinaagi niini nga estorya: “Didto sa Lebanon, may sampinit nga nagpadala niini nga mensahe ngadto sa kahoyng sedro: ‘Ipaasawa ang imong anak nga babaye sa akong anak nga lalaki.’ Apan may miagi nga ihalas nga mananap ug gitunob-tunoban niini ang sampinit. 10Amazia, tinuod nga napildi mo ang Edom ug mibukad na ang imong atay tungod niini. Makontento ka nalang sa imong kadaogan ug pagpuyo diha sa imong palasyo. Nganong mangita ka pa man ug samok nga magdala ug kalaglagan kanimo ug sa Juda?”
11Apan wala mamati si Amazia, busa gisulong siya ni Haring Jehoash ug sa mga sundalo niini. Naggira sila didto sa Bet Shemesh nga sakop sa Juda. 12Napildi sa Israel ang Juda, ug nangikyas ang mga sundalo sa Juda ngadto sa ilang mga balay. 13Nadakpan ni Haring Jehoash si Haring Amazia didto sa Bet Shemesh. Unya miadto si Jehoash sa Jerusalem ug giguba niya ang mga paril niini gikan sa Pultahan sa Efraim paingon sa Pultahan sa Eskina, nga mga 600 ka piye ang gilay-on. 14Gipanguha niya ang tanang bulawan, pilak, ug kagamitan nga iyang nakita sa templo sa Ginoo ug sa bodega sa palasyo. Nagdala usab siyag mga bihag sa iyang pagbalik sa Samaria.
15Ang uban pang sugilanon mahitungod sa paghari ni Jehoash, ang tanan niyang gihimo ug ang iyang mga kadaogan, apil ang iyang pagpakiggira kang Amazia nga hari sa Juda, nahisulat sa libro sa mga sugilanon bahin sa mga hari sa Israel. 16Sa dihang namatay si Jehoash, gilubong siya didto sa gilubngan sa mga hari sa Israel didto sa Samaria. Ug ang iyang anak nga si Jeroboam II mao ang mipuli kaniya ingon nga hari.
17Nagkinabuhi pa si Amazia nga hari sa Juda ug 15 ka tuig human mamatay si Jehoash nga hari sa Israel. 18Ang uban pang sugilanon mahitungod sa paghari ni Amazia nahisulat sa libro sa mga sugilanon bahin sa mga hari sa Juda.
19May mga tawo nga nagplano sa pagpatay kang Amazia sa Jerusalem, busa miikyas siya ngadto sa Lakish. Apan gipasundan nila siya sa Lakish, ug gipatay siya didto. 20Gikarga nila ang iyang patayng lawas sa kabayo ug gidala balik sa Jerusalem, ug unya gilubong sa gilubngan sa iyang mga katigulangan sa Lungsod ni David. 21Ang gipuli sa katawhan sa Juda kang Amazia ingon nga hari mao ang iyang anak nga si Azaria14:21 Azaria: o, Uzia. nga nagaedad ug 16 ka tuig. 22Siya ang mibawi sa Elat ug nagtukod niini pag-usab human mamatay ang iyang amahan nga si Amazia.
Ang Paghari ni Jeroboam II sa Israel
23Nahimong hari sa Israel si Jeroboam II nga anak ni Jehoash sa ika-15 nga tuig sa paghari ni Amazia, nga anak ni Joas sa Juda. Sa Samaria siya nagpuyo, ug naghari siya sulod sa 41 ka tuig. 24Daotan ang iyang gihimo atubangan sa Ginoo. Gisunod niya ang tanang mga sala nga gihimo ni Jeroboam nga anak ni Nebat, nga nahimong hinungdan sa pagpakasala sa mga taga-Israel. 25Siya ang nagbawi sa mga lugar nga gipanag-iyahan kanhi sa Israel, gikan sa Lebo Hamat paingon sa Patay nga Dagat.14:25 Patay nga Dagat: sa Hebreo, Dagat sa Araba. 28Ang uban pang sugilanon mahitungod sa paghari ni Jeroboam II, ug ang iyang bantogan nga mga binuhatan ug ang uban pa niyang gihimo, apil na ang pagbawi sa Damascus ug Hamat nga kanhi sakop sa Juda,14:28 Juda: Ang buot ipasabot, ang tibuok nasod sa Israel sa wala pa mabahin sa duha ka gingharian. nahisulat sa libro sa mga sugilanon bahin sa mga hari sa Israel. 29Sa dihang namatay si Jeroboam II, gilubong siya sa lubnganan sa mga hari sa Israel. 1In the second year of Joash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel reigned Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah. 2He was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem. 3And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, yet not like David his father: he did according to all things as Joash his father did. 4Howbeit the high places were not taken away: as yet the people did sacrifice and burnt incense on the high places.
5¶ And it came to pass, as soon as the kingdom was confirmed in his hand, that he slew his servants which had slain the king his father. 6But the children of the murderers he slew not: according unto that which is written in the book of the law of Moses, wherein the LORD commanded, saying, The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children be put to death for the fathers; but every man shall be put to death for his own sin. 7He slew of Edom in the valley of salt ten thousand, and took Selah by war, and called the name of it Joktheel unto this day.14.7 Selah: or, the rock
8¶ Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash, the son of Jehoahaz son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, Come, let us look one another in the face. 9And Jehoash the king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son to wife: and there passed by a wild beast that was in Lebanon, and trode down the thistle. 10Thou hast indeed smitten Edom, and thine heart hath lifted thee up: glory of this, and tarry at home: for why shouldest thou meddle to thy hurt, that thou shouldest fall, even thou, and Judah with thee?14.10 at home: Heb. at thy house 11But Amaziah would not hear. Therefore Jehoash king of Israel went up; and he and Amaziah king of Judah looked one another in the face at Beth-shemesh, which belongeth to Judah. 12And Judah was put to the worse before Israel; and they fled every man to their tents.14.12 put…: Heb. smitten 13And Jehoash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash the son of Ahaziah, at Beth-shemesh, and came to Jerusalem, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim unto the corner gate, four hundred cubits. 14And he took all the gold and silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king’s house, and hostages, and returned to Samaria.
15¶ Now the rest of the acts of Jehoash which he did, and his might, and how he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel? 16And Jehoash slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel; and Jeroboam his son reigned in his stead.
17¶ And Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah lived after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel fifteen years. 18And the rest of the acts of Amaziah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? 19Now they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem: and he fled to Lachish; but they sent after him to Lachish, and slew him there. 20And they brought him on horses: and he was buried at Jerusalem with his fathers in the city of David.
21¶ And all the people of Judah took Azariah, which was sixteen years old, and made him king instead of his father Amaziah.14.21 Azariah: also called, Uzziah 22He built Elath, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.
23¶ In the fifteenth year of Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel began to reign in Samaria, and reigned forty and one years. 24And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD: he departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin. 25He restored the coast of Israel from the entering of Hamath unto the sea of the plain, according to the word of the LORD God of Israel, which he spake by the hand of his servant Jonah, the son of Amittai, the prophet, which was of Gath-hepher. 26For the LORD saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter: for there was not any shut up, nor any left, nor any helper for Israel. 27And the LORD said not that he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven: but he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.
28¶ Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, and all that he did, and his might, how he warred, and how he recovered Damascus, and Hamath, which belonged to Judah, for Israel, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel? 29And Jeroboam slept with his fathers, even with the kings of Israel; and Zachariah his son reigned in his stead.
