Ang Paghari ni Abia sa Juda
(1 Hari 15:1-8)
1Nahimong hari sa Juda si Abia sa ika-18 nga tuig sa paghari ni Jeroboam sa Israel. 2Sa Jerusalem siya nagpuyo, ug naghari siya sulod sa tulo ka tuig. Ang iyang inahan mao si Maaca13:2 Maaca: o, Micaya. nga anak ni Uriel nga taga-Gibea.
Unya may nahitabong gira tali kang Abia ug Jeroboam. 3Misulong si Abia uban ang 400,000 ka maisog nga mga sundalo, ug nangandam usab si Jeroboam ug 800,000 ka maisog nga mga sundalo alang sa pagpakiggira. 4Pag-abot ni Abia sa kabungtoran sa Efraim, mitindog siya sa Bukid sa Zemaraim ug misinggit ngadto kang Jeroboam ug sa mga taga-Israel, “Pamati kamo kanako. 5Wala ba kamo makahibalo nga ang Ginoo, ang Dios sa Israel, naghimog walay kataposan nga kasabotan kang David nga siya ug ang iyang mga kaliwat mao ang magahari sa Israel hangtod sa kahangtoran? 6Apan ikaw Jeroboam nga anak ni Nebat nagrebelde sa imong agalon nga si Solomon nga anak ni David. 7Nagtigom diha kanimo ang mga tawong walay hinungdan, ug nakigbatok kang Rehoboam nga anak ni Solomon niadtong batan-on pa kini ug wala pa kaayoy eksperyensya ug walay ikasarang sa pagsukol kaninyo. 8Ug karon gusto kamong makigbatok sa gingharian sa Ginoo nga ginadumalahan sa kaliwat ni David, tungod kay daghan kamog mga sundalo, ug uban kaninyo ang mga bulawan nga baka nga gipahimo ni Jeroboam ingon nga inyong mga dios. 9Giabog ninyo ang mga pari sa Ginoo, nga mga kaliwat ni Aaron, ug ang mga Levita. Ug nagpili kamog inyong mga pari sama sa gihimo sa ubang mga nasod. Alang kaninyo si bisan kinsa nga may toriyong baka ug pito ka hamtong nga laking karnero mahimo nang idedikar ingon nga pari sa inyong dili tinuod nga mga dios.
10“Apan alang kanamo, ang Ginoo mao ang among Dios, ug wala namo siya isalikway. Ang among mga pari nga nagaalagad sa Ginoo mga kaliwat ra gayod ni Aaron, ug ang nagatabang kanila mao lang ang mga Levita. 11Buntag ug gabii nagahalad sila sa Ginoo ug mga halad nga sinunog ug humot nga insenso. Ipahimutang nila ang pan diha sa sagradong lamisa. Ug kada gabii dagkotan nila ang mga suga nga anaa sa bulawan nga mga tungtonganan. Nagatuman kami sa mga sugo sa Ginoo nga among Dios. Apan kamo, inyo siyang gisalikway. 12Ang Dios kauban namo; siya ang among pangulo. Ang iyang mga pari mopatingog sa mga trumpeta sa pagpanguna kanamo sa pagpakiggira kaninyo. Mga katawhan sa Israel, ayaw kamo pagpakigbatok sa Ginoo, ang Dios sa inyong mga katigulangan, kay dili gayod kamo magmalampuson.”
13Samtang nagsulti si Abia, hilom nga nagpadala si Jeroboam ug mga sundalo sa luyo sa mga taga-Juda aron sa pag-atang kanila. 14Sa dihang nakita sa mga taga-Juda nga gisulong sila gikan sa likod ug sa atubangan, nangayo sila ug tabang sa Ginoo. Gipatingog dayon sa mga pari ang mga trumpeta, 15ug naninggit ug kusog ang mga taga-Juda. Sa ilang pagsinggit gipildi sa Dios si Jeroboam ug ang mga sundalo sa Israel. Gigukod sila ni Abia ug sa mga sundalo sa Juda. 16Miikyas ang mga taga-Israel ug gitugyan sila sa Dios ngadto sa mga taga-Juda. 17Daghan kaayo ang napatay ni Abia ug sa iyang mga sundalo—500,000 ka labing maayong mga sundalo sa Israel. 18Napildi sa mga taga-Juda ang mga taga-Israel tungod kay misalig sila sa Ginoo, ang Dios sa ilang mga katigulangan.
19Gigukod ni Abia si Jeroboam ug nailog niya gikan niini ang mga lungsod sa Betel, Jeshana, ug Efron, ug apil ang mga baryo sa ilang palibot. 20Wala na gayod mabawi ni Jeroboam ang iyang gahom sa panahon ni Abia, ug sa kaulahian gisilotan siya sa Ginoo ug namatay siya. 21Nahimong gamhanan si Abia. Nakaangkon siya ug 14 ka mga asawa ug 22 ka mga anak nga lalaki ug 16 ka mga anak nga babaye. 22Ang uban pang sugilanon mahitungod sa paghari ni Abia, ang iyang gipanulti ug ang iyang mga binuhatan, nahisulat sa Libro ni Propeta Iddo.
1Now in the eighteenth year of king Jeroboam began Abijah to reign over Judah. 2He reigned three years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name also was Michaiah the daughter of Uriel of Gibeah. And there was war between Abijah and Jeroboam. 3And Abijah set the battle in array with an army of valiant men of war, even four hundred thousand chosen men: Jeroboam also set the battle in array against him with eight hundred thousand chosen men, being mighty men of valour.13.3 Abijah set: Heb. 4¶ And Abijah stood up upon mount Zemaraim, which is in mount Ephraim, and said, Hear me, thou Jeroboam, and all Israel; 5Ought ye not to know that the LORD God of Israel gave the kingdom over Israel to David for ever, even to him and to his sons by a covenant of salt? 6Yet Jeroboam the son of Nebat, the servant of Solomon the son of David, is risen up, and hath rebelled against his lord. 7And there are gathered unto him vain men, the children of Belial, and have strengthened themselves against Rehoboam the son of Solomon, when Rehoboam was young and tenderhearted, and could not withstand them. 8And now ye think to withstand the kingdom of the LORD in the hand of the sons of David; and ye be a great multitude, and there are with you golden calves, which Jeroboam made you for gods. 9Have ye not cast out the priests of the LORD, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, and have made you priests after the manner of the nations of other lands? so that whosoever cometh to consecrate himself with a young bullock and seven rams, the same may be a priest of them that are no gods.13.9 to consecrate…: Heb. to fill his hand 10But as for us, the LORD is our God, and we have not forsaken him; and the priests, which minister unto the LORD, are the sons of Aaron, and the Levites wait upon their business: 11And they burn unto the LORD every morning and every evening burnt sacrifices and sweet incense: the shewbread also set they in order upon the pure table; and the candlestick of gold with the lamps thereof, to burn every evening: for we keep the charge of the LORD our God; but ye have forsaken him. 12And, behold, God himself is with us for our captain, and his priests with sounding trumpets to cry alarm against you. O children of Israel, fight ye not against the LORD God of your fathers; for ye shall not prosper.
13¶ But Jeroboam caused an ambushment to come about behind them: so they were before Judah, and the ambushment was behind them. 14And when Judah looked back, behold, the battle was before and behind: and they cried unto the LORD, and the priests sounded with the trumpets. 15Then the men of Judah gave a shout: and as the men of Judah shouted, it came to pass, that God smote Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah. 16And the children of Israel fled before Judah: and God delivered them into their hand. 17And Abijah and his people slew them with a great slaughter: so there fell down slain of Israel five hundred thousand chosen men. 18Thus the children of Israel were brought under at that time, and the children of Judah prevailed, because they relied upon the LORD God of their fathers. 19And Abijah pursued after Jeroboam, and took cities from him, Beth-el with the towns thereof, and Jeshanah with the towns thereof, and Ephrain with the towns thereof. 20Neither did Jeroboam recover strength again in the days of Abijah: and the LORD struck him, and he died.
21¶ But Abijah waxed mighty, and married fourteen wives, and begat twenty and two sons, and sixteen daughters. 22And the rest of the acts of Abijah, and his ways, and his sayings, are written in the story of the prophet Iddo.
