Giluwas ni David ang Lungsod sa Keila
1Sa dihang gisultihan si David nga gisulong sa mga Filistihanon ang Keila ug gipanguha ang ilang mga naani didto sa ilang mga giokanan, 2nangutana siya sa Ginoo, “Sulongon ko ba ang mga Filistihanon?” Mitubag ang Ginoo kaniya, “Sige, sulonga sila ug luwasa ang Keila.” 3Apan miingon ang mga tawo ni David, “Nahadlok na gani kami dinhi sa Juda, unsa pa kaha kon moadto kita sa Keila ug makiggira sa mga Filistihanon.” 4Nangutana pag-usab si David sa Ginoo, ug miingon ang Ginoo kaniya, “Adto sa Keila, kay padag-on ko ikaw batok sa mga Filistihanon.” 5Busa miadto si David ug ang iyang mga tawo sa Keila ug nakiggira sa mga Filistihanon. Daghang mga Filistihanon ang ilang napatay, ug gipanguha nila ang ilang mga mananap. Naluwas nila ang taga-Keila.

Gigukod ni Saul si David
7May nakasulti kang Saul nga si David miadto sa Keila. Busa miingon si Saul, “Gitugyan na siya sa Dios kanako, kay sama ra nga gibilanggo niya ang iyang kaugalingon sa iyang pagsulod sa lungsod nga gilibotan ug paril.” 8Unya gitigom ni Saul ang tanan niyang mga sundalo aron sa pag-adto sa Keila ug sa pagdakop kang David ug sa mga tawo niini. 9Pagkahibalo ni David sa plano ni Saul, giingnan niya si Abiatar nga pari sa pagkuha sa efod. 10Unya miingon si David, “O Ginoo, Dios sa Israel, nabalitaan niining imong alagad, nga nagplano si Saul sa pag-anhi dinhi sa Keila aron sa paglaglag niini nga lungsod tungod kanako. 11Moanhi ba dinhi si Saul sumala sa akong nadunggan? Itugyan ba ako sa mga lumulupyo sa Keila ngadto kang Saul? O Ginoo, Dios sa Israel, sultihi kining imong alagad.” Mitubag ang Ginoo, “Oo, moanha si Saul.” 12Nangutana pag-usab si David, “Itugyan ba ako ug ang akong mga tawo sa mga lumulupyo sa Keila ngadto kang Saul?” Mitubag ang Ginoo, “Oo, itugyan kamo nila.” 13Busa mibiya sa Keila si David uban sa iyang 600 ka mga tawo, ug nagbalhin-balhin sila ug dapit. Sa dihang nabalitaan ni Saul nga miikyas na si David gikan sa Keila, wala na siya moadto didto.
14Nagtago-tago si David didto sa mga kuta sa bungtod sa kamingawan sa Zif. Adlaw-adlaw gipangita siya ni Saul, apan wala gayod siya itugyan sa Dios kang Saul.
15Usa niana ka adlaw, samtang didto si David sa Horesh sa kamingawan sa Zif, nabalitaan niya nga padulong na didto si Saul aron sa pagpatay kaniya. 16Miadto si Jonatan kang David didto sa Horesh aron sa pagdasig kaniya sa pagsalig sa Dios. 17Miingon si Jonatan, “Ayaw kahadlok kay ang akong amahan dili makahilabot kanimo. Nahibaloan mismo sa akong amahan nga ikaw ang mahimong hari sa Israel, ug ako ang ikaduha kanimo.” 18Naghimo silang duha ug kasabotan sa presensya sa Ginoo. Unya mipauli si Jonatan, apan si David nagpabilin sa Horesh.
19Unya, may mga taga-Zif nga miadto kang Saul sa Gibea ug miingon, “Si David nagatago didto sa among dapit sa mga kuta sa Horesh sa bungtod sa Hakila, sa habagatan sa Jeshimon. 20Busa, mahal nga Hari, adto didto kon kanus-a mo gusto kay bahala na kami sa pagtugyan kaniya nganha kanimo.” 21Mitubag si Saul, “Panalanginan kamo sa Ginoo sa inyong kahangawa kanako. 22Sige, pauli na kamo ug panid-i ninyo kon asa siya kanunayng moadto ug kon kinsa ang nakakita kaniya didto. Kay nasayod ako nga abtik kaayo kini si David. 23Tultola ninyo ang tanang dapit nga iyang gitagoan, ug balik kamo dinhi kanako kon sigurado na gayod. Unya mouban ako kaninyo; ug kon atua gayod siya sa maong dapit gukdon ko gayod siya bisag latason ko pa ang tibuok yuta sa Juda.” 24Busa miuna sila kang Saul sa Zif.
Niadtong higayona didto na si David ug ang iyang mga tawo sa kamingawan sa Maon sa Kapatagan sa Jordan,23:24 Kapatagan sa Jordan: sa Hebreo, Araba. sa habagatan sa Jeshimon. 25Pag-abot ni Saul ug sa iyang mga tawo sa Zif, gipangita nila si David. Sa dihang nahibaloan kini ni David, mitago siya sa dakong bato sa kamingawan sa Maon, ug didto siya nagpundo. Sa dihang nabalitaan kini ni Saul, miadto siya sa kamingawan sa Maon aron sa pagpangita kang David. 26Si Saul ug ang iyang mga tawo didto sa usa ka bahin sa bukid, samtang si David ug ang iyang mga tawo didto usab sa pikas bahin sa bukid nga nagdali-dali sa pag-ikyas gikan kang Saul. Sa dihang hapit na maapsi ni Saul ug sa iyang mga tawo si David ug ang iyang mga tawo, 27may mensahero nga miadto kang Saul ug miingon, “Dali, balik una! Kay gisulong sa mga Filistihanon ang atong nasod.” 28Busa miundang si Saul sa paggukod kang David ug mibalik siya aron sa pagpakiggira sa mga Filistihanon. Tungod niini, ang maong dapit gitawag nga “Bato sa Panagbulag.” 29Gikan didto, miadto si David sa En Gedi ug mipuyo sa mga kuta didto.
David Saves Keilah
1When David was told, “Look, the Philistines are fighting against Keilah and are looting the threshing floors,” 2he inquired of the Lord, saying, “Shall I go and attack these Philistines?”
The Lord answered him, “Go, attack the Philistines and save Keilah.”
3But David’s men said to him, “Here in Judah we are afraid. How much more, then, if we go to Keilah against the Philistine forces!”
4Once again David inquired of the Lord, and the Lord answered him, “Go down to Keilah, for I am going to give the Philistines into your hand.” 5So David and his men went to Keilah, fought the Philistines and carried off their livestock. He inflicted heavy losses on the Philistines and saved the people of Keilah. 6(Now Abiathar son of Ahimelek had brought the ephod down with him when he fled to David at Keilah.)
Saul Pursues David
7Saul was told that David had gone to Keilah, and he said, “God has delivered him into my hands, for David has imprisoned himself by entering a town with gates and bars.” 8And Saul called up all his forces for battle, to go down to Keilah to besiege David and his men.
9When David learned that Saul was plotting against him, he said to Abiathar the priest, “Bring the ephod.” 10David said, “Lord, God of Israel, your servant has heard definitely that Saul plans to come to Keilah and destroy the town on account of me. 11Will the citizens of Keilah surrender me to him? Will Saul come down, as your servant has heard? Lord, God of Israel, tell your servant.”
And the Lord said, “He will.”
12Again David asked, “Will the citizens of Keilah surrender me and my men to Saul?”
And the Lord said, “They will.”
13So David and his men, about six hundred in number, left Keilah and kept moving from place to place. When Saul was told that David had escaped from Keilah, he did not go there.
14David stayed in the wilderness strongholds and in the hills of the Desert of Ziph. Day after day Saul searched for him, but God did not give David into his hands.
15While David was at Horesh in the Desert of Ziph, he learned that23:15 Or he was afraid because Saul had come out to take his life. 16And Saul’s son Jonathan went to David at Horesh and helped him find strength in God. 17“Don’t be afraid,” he said. “My father Saul will not lay a hand on you. You will be king over Israel, and I will be second to you. Even my father Saul knows this.” 18The two of them made a covenant before the Lord. Then Jonathan went home, but David remained at Horesh.
19The Ziphites went up to Saul at Gibeah and said, “Is not David hiding among us in the strongholds at Horesh, on the hill of Hakilah, south of Jeshimon? 20Now, Your Majesty, come down whenever it pleases you to do so, and we will be responsible for giving him into your hands.”
21Saul replied, “The Lord bless you for your concern for me. 22Go and get more information. Find out where David usually goes and who has seen him there. They tell me he is very crafty. 23Find out about all the hiding places he uses and come back to me with definite information. Then I will go with you; if he is in the area, I will track him down among all the clans of Judah.”
24So they set out and went to Ziph ahead of Saul. Now David and his men were in the Desert of Maon, in the Arabah south of Jeshimon. 25Saul and his men began the search, and when David was told about it, he went down to the rock and stayed in the Desert of Maon. When Saul heard this, he went into the Desert of Maon in pursuit of David.
26Saul was going along one side of the mountain, and David and his men were on the other side, hurrying to get away from Saul. As Saul and his forces were closing in on David and his men to capture them, 27a messenger came to Saul, saying, “Come quickly! The Philistines are raiding the land.” 28Then Saul broke off his pursuit of David and went to meet the Philistines. That is why they call this place Sela Hammahlekoth.23:28 Sela Hammahlekoth means rock of parting. 29And David went up from there and lived in the strongholds of En Gedi.23:29 In Hebrew texts this verse (23:29) is numbered 24:1.
