Ang Ubasan ni Nabot
1Karon, may usa ka tawo nga taga-Jezreel nga ginganlag Nabot. May ubasan siya sa Jezreel tapad sa palasyo ni Ahab nga hari sa Samaria. 2Usa niana ka higayon, miingon si Ahab kang Nabot, “Tungod kay duol sa akong palasyo ang imong ubasan, ihatag na lang kana kanako aron akong himuon nga tamnanan ug mga utan. Bayloan ko kini ug mas maayong ubasan, o kon gusto ka, bayran ko ikaw sa ensakto nga presyo.” 3-4Apan mitubag si Nabot, “Hinaut nga dili gayod itugot sa Ginoo nga ihatag ko kanimo ang gipanunod ko sa akong mga katigulangan.”
Mipauli si Ahab nga naguol ug naglagot tungod sa gitubag ni Nabot kaniya. Mihigda siya nga nagaatubang sa dingding, ug wala mokaon. 5Giadtoan siya ni Jezebel nga iyang asawa ug gipangutana, “Nganong naguol ka? Nganong dili ka mokaon?” 6Mitubag siya sa iyang asawa, “Giingnan ko si Nabot nga paliton ko ang iyang ubasan o kaha bayloan ko kini ug mas maayong ubasan kon gusto siya, apan wala siya mosugot.” 7Miingon si Jezebel, “Dili ba hari ka man sa Israel? Bangon ug kaon! Paglipay kay ihatag ko kanimo ang ubasan ni Nabot nga taga-Jezreel.”
8Busa nagsulat si Jezebel sa ngalan ni Ahab. Giselyohan niya kini sa selyo sa hari, ug gipadala sa mga tigdumala ug sa uban pang mga opisyal sa lungsod diin nagpuyo si Nabot. 9Mao kini ang mensahe sa iyang sulat: “Tigoma ninyo ang mga katawhan aron magpuasa, ug palingkora ninyo si Nabot atubangan sa mga tawo. 10Unya palingkora ninyo atbang kaniya ang duha ka daotang tawo aron sa pag-akusar kaniya nga gitunglo niya ang Dios ug ang hari. Dad-a dayon ninyo si Nabot sa gawas sa lungsod ug batoha hangtod mamatay.”
11Gihimo sa mga tigdumala ug sa uban pang mga opisyal ang giingon kanila ni Jezebel sa sulat. 12Gitigom nila ang mga tawo aron magpuasa ug gipalingkod nila si Nabot atubangan sa mga tawo. 13Unya may miabot nga duha ka daotang tawo ug milingkod atubangan ni Nabot, ug giakusar nila siya atubangan sa mga tawo. Miingon sila, “Gitunglo ni Nabot ang Dios ug ang hari.” Busa gidala nila si Nabot sa gawas sa lungsod ug gibato hangtod namatay. 14Unya nagsulat sila kang Jezebel nga gibato nila si Nabot ug patay na.
15Pagkahibalo ni Jezebel nga patay na si Nabot, miingon siya kang Ahab, “Patay na si Nabot. Busa lakaw ug panag-iyaha ang ubasan ni Nabot nga dili niya ibaligya kanimo.” 16Pagkadungog ni Ahab nga patay na si Nabot, milakaw siya dayon sa pagpanag-iya sa ubasan niini.
17Miingon ang Ginoo kang Elias nga taga-Tishbe, 18“Lakaw ug adtoa si Ahab nga hari sa Israel, nga atua magpuyo sa Samaria. Atua siya sa ubasan ni Nabot aron sa pagpanag-iya niini. 19Ingna siya nga mao kini ang akong giingon: ‘Human mo patya ang tawo, kuhaon mo pa apil ang iyang yuta? Tungod sa imong gihimo, tilapan usab sa mga iro ang imong dugo sa dapit diin gitilapan nila ang dugo ni Nabot.’ ”
20Pagkakita ni Ahab kang Elias miingon siya, “Nakit-an ra gayod ako sa akong kaaway!” Mitubag si Elias, “Oo, mianhi ako kanimo tungod kay gitugyan mo ang imong kaugalingon sa paghimo ug daotan atubangan sa Ginoo! 21Mao kini ang giingon sa Ginoo kanimo: ‘Padad-an ko ikaw ug katalagman. Pamatyon ko ang tanan mong kaliwat nga lalaki, ulipon man o dili. 22Laglagon ko ang imong panimalay sama sa gihimo ko sa panimalay ni Jeroboam nga anak ni Nebat, ug sa panimalay ni Baasha nga anak ni Ahia, tungod kay gipalagot mo ako ug ikaw ang nahimong hinungdan sa pagpakasala sa mga taga-Israel.’
23“Ug mahitungod kang Jezebel, miingon ang Ginoo nga kan-on siya sa mga iro didto sa paril sa Jezreel. 24Ang mga miyembro sa imong panimalay nga mangamatay sa lungsod kan-on sa mga iro, ug ang mangamatay sa uma kan-on sa mga langgam.”
25(Wala gayoy tawo nga sama kang Ahab nga nagtuygan sa iyang kaugalingon sa paghimo ug daotan atubangan sa Ginoo, nga sinulsolan sa iyang asawa nga si Jezebel. 26Gihimo niya ang labing ngil-ad nga butang pinaagi sa pagsimba ug mga dios-dios, sama sa gihimo sa mga Amorihanon nga giabog sa Ginoo gikan niini nga yuta sa pag-abot sa mga Israelinhon.)
27Pagkadungog ni Ahab sa gisulti ni Elias, gigisi niya ang iyang bisti ug nagbistig sako, ug nagpuasa. Natulog siya nga nagbistig sako ug naglakaw-lakaw nga masulob-on.
28Miingon ang Ginoo kang Elias nga taga-Tishbe, 29“Nakita mo ba kon giunsa pagpaubos ni Ahab sa iyang kaugalingon sa akong atubangan? Tungod kay nagpaubos siya, dili ko ipadala ang kalaglagan sa iyang panahon, ipadala ko kini sa iyang panimalay kon ang iya nang anak ang maghari.”
1And it came to pass after these things, that Naboth the Jezreelite had a vineyard, which was in Jezreel, hard by the palace of Ahab king of Samaria. 2And Ahab spake unto Naboth, saying, Give me thy vineyard, that I may have it for a garden of herbs, because it is near unto my house: and I will give thee for it a better vineyard than it; or, if it seem good to thee, I will give thee the worth of it in money.21.2 seem…: Heb. be good in thine eyes 3And Naboth said to Ahab, The LORD forbid it me, that I should give the inheritance of my fathers unto thee. 4And Ahab came into his house heavy and displeased because of the word which Naboth the Jezreelite had spoken to him: for he had said, I will not give thee the inheritance of my fathers. And he laid him down upon his bed, and turned away his face, and would eat no bread.
5¶ But Jezebel his wife came to him, and said unto him, Why is thy spirit so sad, that thou eatest no bread? 6And he said unto her, Because I spake unto Naboth the Jezreelite, and said unto him, Give me thy vineyard for money; or else, if it please thee, I will give thee another vineyard for it: and he answered, I will not give thee my vineyard. 7And Jezebel his wife said unto him, Dost thou now govern the kingdom of Israel? arise, and eat bread, and let thine heart be merry: I will give thee the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite. 8So she wrote letters in Ahab’s name, and sealed them with his seal, and sent the letters unto the elders and to the nobles that were in his city, dwelling with Naboth. 9And she wrote in the letters, saying, Proclaim a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people:21.9 on high…: Heb. in the top of the people 10And set two men, sons of Belial, before him, to bear witness against him, saying, Thou didst blaspheme God and the king. And then carry him out, and stone him, that he may die. 11And the men of his city, even the elders and the nobles who were the inhabitants in his city, did as Jezebel had sent unto them, and as it was written in the letters which she had sent unto them. 12They proclaimed a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people. 13And there came in two men, children of Belial, and sat before him: and the men of Belial witnessed against him, even against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying, Naboth did blaspheme God and the king. Then they carried him forth out of the city, and stoned him with stones, that he died. 14Then they sent to Jezebel, saying, Naboth is stoned, and is dead.
15¶ And it came to pass, when Jezebel heard that Naboth was stoned, and was dead, that Jezebel said to Ahab, Arise, take possession of the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, which he refused to give thee for money: for Naboth is not alive, but dead. 16And it came to pass, when Ahab heard that Naboth was dead, that Ahab rose up to go down to the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, to take possession of it.
17¶ And the word of the LORD came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying, 18Arise, go down to meet Ahab king of Israel, which is in Samaria: behold, he is in the vineyard of Naboth, whither he is gone down to possess it. 19And thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus saith the LORD, Hast thou killed, and also taken possession? And thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus saith the LORD, In the place where dogs licked the blood of Naboth shall dogs lick thy blood, even thine. 20And Ahab said to Elijah, Hast thou found me, O mine enemy? And he answered, I have found thee: because thou hast sold thyself to work evil in the sight of the LORD. 21Behold, I will bring evil upon thee, and will take away thy posterity, and will cut off from Ahab him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel, 22And will make thine house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah, for the provocation wherewith thou hast provoked me to anger, and made Israel to sin. 23And of Jezebel also spake the LORD, saying, The dogs shall eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel.21.23 wall: or, ditch 24Him that dieth of Ahab in the city the dogs shall eat; and him that dieth in the field shall the fowls of the air eat.
25¶ But there was none like unto Ahab, which did sell himself to work wickedness in the sight of the LORD, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up.21.25 stirred…: or, incited 26And he did very abominably in following idols, according to all things as did the Amorites, whom the LORD cast out before the children of Israel. 27And it came to pass, when Ahab heard those words, that he rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his flesh, and fasted, and lay in sackcloth, and went softly. 28And the word of the LORD came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying, 29Seest thou how Ahab humbleth himself before me? because he humbleth himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days: but in his son’s days will I bring the evil upon his house.
