Charitable Gift Annuity

Frequently Asked Questions

How long has Biblica offered Charitable Gift Annuities?
Biblica has offered annuities since 1920.

How is my annuity rate determined?
Your annuity rate is based on your age at the time of annuity purchase. Biblica subscribes to the American Council on Gift Annuities (ACGA) for recommended rates.

Will my annuity rate change over time?
Your annuity rate will not change regardless of economic conditions or market fluctuations. It will remain fixed through your lifetime.

Can an annuity with Biblica be for more than one person?
An annuity may be purchased on the life or lives of one (one-life) or two individuals (two-life). The rate on a two-life annuity will take into account the ages of both annuitants. The rate and payments will remain consistent through both lives.

How can I fund a Charitable Gift Annuity?
The minimum funding amount for an annuity is $5,000. An annuity may be funded with cash or appreciated publically traded securities. The use of appreciated publically traded securities gives you the added benefit of spreading out the capital gains over the life of the annuity.

Do I need to have a medical examination to purchase an annuity?
No medical examination is required for the purchase of an annuity. Rates are based solely on the age of the annuitant(s) at the time of purchase.

At what frequency can I receive my annuity payments?
Payments may be received annually, semi annually, quarterly, or monthly (for annuities over $20,000).

Will I have access to the principal of my annuity?
A Charitable Gift Annuity is an irrevocable agreement. Because a charitable deduction is received at purchase, there is no access to the principal during the life of the agreement.

Can I have multiple annuity contracts?
Yes! Many of our current annuitants purchase multiple contracts with us. Remember, as you get older, the annuity rate generally increases, so it may be beneficial for you to establish additional annuities.
